Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

The Neutrik is made for 24mm hole.
Which is why people choose to place it in the hole for Select.

I used a 24mm hole saw to make the hole inside cable compartment.

That makes sense. Thanks!

consider me jealous, I’m always looking out for the latest stuff to pimp out a stick!

why did you reveal K.O.B.R.A.?!?!?!
the secret organization is out

no one must know, anyone in the know must now die

Still looking to know what is the default (before installing Kitty; I forgot to write it down, doh!) name under Windows of the VLX. ^^

Edit: Okey im sorry, it looks like i got a TE-S stick and need thoes extra ribbons to fix it. You guys think that i can buy them at a normal store or do i need to order one from USA and pay for Shipping :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi
I just got my first TE kitty board i wanted to mod my Round 2 xbox 360 TE.
I now im in real trubbel, it looks like my TE board is diffrent and cant be moded with TE kitty and i have already cut up my USB cabel.

My XGUILD, Guide button, contackt from TE board is 7 pin while the one im to connect from TE Kitty to it is 6pin.
And same goes for other port on my TE board.
" Plug the other
end of the ribbon cable into the smaller five pin header on the original TE board maked
with ‘BE6’ and ‘BE7’" this one is a 6pin on my board while the cable is 5pin.

I was thinking that maybe maybe it’s still gonna work if i left out 1 pin on them but then i got to the part that i have to plug my original ribbon cabel from the stick to TE Kitty board. And that does not work ofc, my ribbon is 7pin while it’s a 6pin contackt on TE kitty board.

Is there anyway that i can still mod it or fix it?

You can force Xbox360 mode and see for yourself. Although I really wouldnt recommend making the USB string the same for both. It’d be a good idea to keep them different so you can see what mode you’re in.

You need to order them from me. They are not standard ribbon cables by any stretch of the imagination.

Aww well then I’ll order it when i get home :<

Oh, I didn’t knew about that.
I checked the manuals, but didn’t see anything about how I can force 360 mode. feeling stupid How do I do that?

Turbo to 3, hold Back.

Thank you very much.

Installing my Kitty now, putting the wires in the screw terminals is like the biggest bitch ever. );

After doing this recently myself I would highly suggest doing two things. First thing is pull a bit more of the USB cable through the whole coming from the storage compartment. The extra few inches will be used to make an L out of the cable so that it easily goes around the bottom part of your joystick. Doing this may save you a lot of frustration when you go to put the top of your stick on and pressure is put on the wires in the screw terminals. The second thing, and I highly recommend this, is if you have access to a solder gun (they are stupid cheap) I would highly advise tinning the wires to make them stronger. The green one especially is a bitch and can easily break. It doesn’t take long to do and it helped me a ton. You can also solder the wires to the PCB right next to the terminal (Toodles pointed that out to me earlier).

Or, you can just do what I should have done. Order a Neutrik and get an RJ45 to USB cord and not even mess with the wires.

You still have to mess with the USB and Screw Terminals even with RJ45.
From the TE PCB to the TE Kitty, go Screw Terminal.

It is only the Outgoing USB on the TE Kitty that you have choices.
I’m guessing you two are having difficult with the Outgoing USB?

Yeah. That’s exactly it. I have everything secure now, so lets’ see if it gets power.

I only had issues with the top one (as you are looking down on them). If that is the Outgoing, then yes, that one caused me a few headaches. Nothing major but I definitely would have benefited from a few examples/options in the documentation. Overall it was easy to install but I had some weird issues (burnt out LED that caused confusion and the stick name showing up differently on XPS laptops compared to other computers) along with that damn green wire not staying in or breaking (white wire wasn’t much better).

Fucking right, it works. Let’s see if I can finish this up. Thanks for the assistance, thread.

Hm, it seems like “VIRTUA STICK High Grade” is showing up even after I tried flashing the board? Is that good or no?

Open the front end, ‘Open’ the hex, make a new USB string, ‘Save’ the hex, then flash the firmware and select the new .hex file you just saved. That should force it to use a different PID/VID pair and show up with the name you specified.

That’s EXACTLY what I saw with my laptop (and two other similar Dell XPS’s). However, when I plug the stick into my main PC it shows up properly and it showed up properly on two other laptops (one HP and one Toshiba). The actual name did not seem to affect anything though as it worked fine. Re-flashing did not change this.
