Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

I’m looking at ordering the TE Kitty today for my SE stick. The PCB is identical to that of the TE so I’m positive it will work in mine.

If I order from http://godlikecontrols.com/ how soon will it ship/arrive? I’m in the continental US, I just don’t know is there is a waiting list or anything. There’s a few tourneys coming up in the following weeks and I’d like to have this before then.

Thanks for photos put up in the SC5 stick thread, Im perfectly comfident that a TE Kitty + TE-S harness will work beautifully in the new transparent FightStick Soul Edition.

I’ve got tons in stock and almost always ship out next business day, via priority mail. If you were to order right this exact instant, it’d be out in Saturday’s mail to get to your house probably monday, possibly Tuesday for east coast or hawaiians. If you decide to wait until way late tonight instead to order, it may not go out until Monday’s mail.

Great, just ordered one. I look forward to installing it.

This is so cool. I can’t believe how far this stuff has come.

I just installed my Kitty into my Femme Fatale and now I am looking to get one for my SC5 stick. Much thanks to Toodles. I love your products.

Your ass had better let me know if you ever come outta retirement! I never got a chance to pick one of your cases up.

Enjoy! And tell your friends. But in that order.

If I could recommend one other thing to try as well, grab a short piece of wire, strip a little insulation off of the ends, and put each end into one of the VCC screw terminals. That’ll skip the diode protection on the USB line. On the VLX, this helped with 360 disconnect issues, and along with trying another USB cable or different RJ45 cable, would be the last suggestion I could have.

Can i ask what RJ 45 jack do you suggest to put in the usb storage case in a TE or TE-S case?

The neutrik’s are tried and true, and super simple to put into the spot the ‘back’ button is in. It’s in the Kitty installation guide even. I have not tried any others personally.

I am looking for an internal install. Hidden in the usb storage.

Just had the luck to test my install on a Windows 7 64bit virtual machine (using Parallels for Mac), and I have some questions:

  1. From the manual : "The upper left and lower left player LEDs should come on and stay on."
I had the upper left and lower right that came and stayed on. Is anything wrong?

  2. On the Game Controllers control panel, all buttons work perfectly, but what are buttons 11 and 12 for?

Edit: Forgot to tell that I use an HRAP VLX Premium for 360, and that I successfully (I guess, I had no error messages, the DOS window just disappeared; could you add a log ability to the updater?) updated the firmware to 1.3 (if I understood well). Tested again the buttons and all, everything seems OK. Also tried on my Xbox 360, worked flawlessly.

So far I am very glad and satisfied.

I was installing the TE-Kitty I got in the mail yesterday and during it I may have caused a problem. I don’t know if it is or not yet as I’m still part way through the install but I figured I’d post this to find out if I would probably end up having a problem or not. I was removing the H wire that leads to where the Home button is and there was an excessive amount of glue there and I slipped while removing it using a small hobby x-acto and I cut into the board. I have no clue if this will cause a problem or not but here is a picture I took. You can see the scratch directly to the right of the middle connector next to the CN4 label.

I know this isn’t your problem but if you have the time I would definitely appreciate the help.

i love the kitty :), just did an install on location at CEO Winterfest in the back of my hatch for someone … its too easy.

Just ordered mine! Hopefully it’s not too hard to install!

its cake walk. just read instructions before you begin working to help you setup your workstation. gl with the mod

During step 12 while testing I am having some issues. For reference I have a Madcatz TE SSFIV Type-S.

“Make sure the lock switch is set to ‘unlock’. Plug the USB cable into a computer with the
Guide button held down. You should see the upper left and lower right player LEDs light
up.”

When I press the Guide button and plug in my stick I do not get the upper left and lower right LED’s to light up. When I first turned it on all 8 LED’s would light up when the button was pressed as expected, but at some point during testing the 4th LED on the top (far right) stopped working. What would I do to fix these two issues?

I know I need these 2 LED’s to turn on before I start the flash for the Kitty (my controller shows up as VIRTUA STICK High Grade) and obviously I have something hooked up wrong if one of the LED’s simply won’t turn on anymore. I’m going to assume it’s a connection from one of the USB wires but which one?

Hopefully none of this is related to my post up above :frowning: Thanks in advance.

Im sorry but I dont have any recommendations. I’ve seen folks use Neutriks in the cord compartment of VLX’s, but those have crazy room available. I dont recall seeing an internal one on a TE.

  1. The only thing wrong is the guide. THose two LEDs you specified are the correct ones. Nothing is wrong with the parts or install.
  2. R3 and L3 (analog stick clicks). They aren’t activated by anything, just ignore them.
  3. The DOS windows should stay open long enough for you to see the completion percentage tick by. If its a quick open and shut with no chance to read anything, the flash didnt take.

That looks like just a scratch. I doubt you cut the trace, but you’d have to check it with a meter to know for sure.

Glad ya like it, tell your friends

It’s hard to determine for anyone if its hard or easy. Just please read through the installation guide carefully and slowly and you should be just fine.

First thing is to get the firmware flashed. That’s the most important part. Trying to flash the board cannot hurt it. Plug it in with Guide held down, and try to update the firmware. If you can see the percentages ticking, you know it worked. If not, it’d be helpful if you mentioned what LEDs came on when you plugged it in. Also, test all of the eight play buttons, and list if all of them worked, or if some of them didnt work, or which ones were in the wrong location.

Well, the install instructions said to make sure the LED’s turned on before you flashed. I didn’t feel like potentially frying the board by me being a bit over eager! I’ll go ahead and try to flash it and see what happens since you said it can’t be hurt.

No LED’s come on when it’s plugged in to my computer.

I did test all 8 buttons. When I originally turned the stick on all 8 LED’s worked fine. Each LED matched up with the button pressed. Now the top rightmost LED does not come on when I press the corresponding button.

I’ll go up and flash now and respond when it’s done.

I’ve more TE I did the same to.
I cannot find pictures right now, but they the same placement as above.

Thanks so much. I only mod my own sticks and am slowly learning how to do this. Those picture placements helped greatly.

Ok, so I flashed my Kitty and it apparently didn’t do anything. It still shows up as a Virtua Stick High Grade if I simply plug it in or hold down home and plug it in. If I put the switch on RS and hold turbo/back the stick is then named Arcade Stick (Super SFIV Fightstick TE S).

The LED’s are still the same too. When I turn on the stick as stated the 2 LED’s that are supposed to come on do not. Also, the top rightmost LED does not come on when LB is pressed (the top right most button). All other button presses match up with the LED’s.

When I go into the game controller properties and I press LB in either mode (Virtua Stick or Arcade Stick) and I press LB it lights up in windows as if it’s registering just fine.

So I guess I am having three problems:

  1. LED’s that are supposed to flash when you plug the stick in while holding home do not flash.
  2. The firmware says it flashes but the stick still does not identify as the TE Kitty as it should (making me believe it failed the firmware update).
  3. The LED for LB button does not light up but windows sees the button press without issue in both modes.

I could plug it into my 360 and see if everything works I guess.
