Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

That’s the one. Something’s messed up on the 4066 chip. It’s a pretty easy fix, but if you’re not an old hand with surface mount soldering, best to let me do it. You can either send it off to me, and I’ll fix it and send it right back. If you’d rather have a new one sent out and then ship back the fubared one, that’s an option too but I’d need you to put a deposit on the replacement. Let me know how’d you rather handle it and we’ll get it done.

Guess Ill do the deposit and ship the broken one back, moving from Idaho to California at the end of the month so best for me to get it resolved before then.

Will do. Order a TE Kitty as normal from the http://gdlk.co page and make sure to mark in the notes that its for a swap so I can put in a labelled box to ship the bad one back in. Once the defect is received back, I’ll refund the paypal. Inter-Idaho priority mail aught to take 2 days for shipping.

Toodles, the turbo and guide buttons suddenly stopped working in both consoles. Everything is working fine, including the LS-DP switch and all buttons, and the auto-detecting method. I disconnect and reconnect all, but nothing happens. What’s happening ? Yesterday everything was ok.

EDIT: Re-flashed the firmware and everything returned to normal. Any idea why this happened?

EDIT²: I can not customize the board with my name. The DOS prompt flashes and closes, but with the original firmware, is okay. Any tips?

  1. Lock switch.
  2. .Hex file need to be in the same as the the Kitty.exe and the firmware flash executable. Put 'em in the root of a thumb drive if you that happens, and make sure the stick is in bootloader mode before before clicking Ok. (Upper left/Lower right Guide LEDs.)

Question in regards to changing the lighting of the Turbo Panel. It seems that option 2 would be the most practical method of changing the order. But I have a question on what needs to be rearranged.
I have pics from the Kitty install guide and am a bit confused as to which wires need to be arranged.

Out of the pics I have pulled out, which wires would I need to rearrange to test the lighting? Is the ones plugged into the kitty in pic 1&3? Or do I need to arrange the ones in the middle of the LED board in pic 2?

Also there are 8 buttons on the TE stick, but on the ribbon, there are only 7 wires. Is the rearranging needed to be done on more than one cable?

Thanks.

It’d be a rearrangement over the other two ribbons, NOT the seven pin one.
If you look at the LED daughterboard, you’ll see labelling on the pins on the side opposite of the connector. ??X, ??RB, ??LT, etc. They specify the LED has it was originally made, so a Rnd1 original TE would have the spot labelled ??RB controlling the third LED in the top row. If you wanted, say, LB to go to that third LED in the top row, you’d move the wire that is currently plugged into ??LB and connect it to the spot labelled ??RB.

Thanks for the quick response, gonna test this out later tonight.

Installed the new one, works great. Just have an issue with it not working with my psx > dc converter its a Total Control Plus 5 from waaay back. Any ideas on that?

cut the end off that and make a cable for DC

I would lose memory card ability and have to have a actual dc controller plugged in also which would suck.
There was only one time that the kitty did something on the dreamcast, but it was odd like right input on the stick acted like hitting the B button then one of the buttons was A and another was like down, but like I said it only did that once now its back to doing absolutely nothing. I can plug in a normal ps2 controller and the converter works, kitty plugged in = nothing.

Thanks Toodles, this was exactly what I needed to have the lights go off in the right order.

Nope. Could be the converter, the psx cable, the cabling between the two, could be anything. Only way to get a definite answer would be to hook it up to an oscilloscope, so come to the gathering on the 30th; check the idaho thread.

Make an RJ-45 Dreamcast cable, and keep the converter in the player 4 spot with the VMU attached. Games will autoload from the VLU, and you wont have to sweat the possibility of lag from the converter.

Noob question time - with a Kitty TE is it possible to have ‘start+select’ activate ‘Home/Guide’?

A customer wants to have one installed in his TE which has had the turbo panel removed and no extra button installed. Currently no ‘back/select’ button signal as it’s been routed to ‘Guide’.

No, the S+S=G has been removed from the Kitty code. You’ll need to add a new button.

Thanks for the facts.

Is S+S=G still an option if using a ChImp SMD?

yes

I have this problem with an UNMODDED Hori stick; I don’t know what the cause is, but it’s definitely not the Kitty board (at least, not JUST a problem with the Kitty).

noob question >.> but,
hey toodles, is there a way to dual mod a ps3 vlx premium that’s solderless?

No.
