Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

IIRC, it’s turbo slider all of the way to the right and hold down Turbo.

bought a vlx from someone with a kitty installed. works fine but the mic jack doesnt seem to work. when i plug in the stick i cant hear anything in a xbox party chat with or without the mic plug in but once i unplug the stick i can hear the party talk.

There’s a mod to fix VLX headset issues shown here:

Please give it a try and report back if it helps.

Turns out it was turbo slider to the right to “3 bars” and hold down “Back/Select” upon plug in.
But yeah I got it working. Thanks.

Installed in a TE-S. I fucked something up (probably the usb wires into the screw terminals) and got a pop and smoke. I’m pretty sure shit is done, but I wanted to see if anyone bounced back from it without having to buy a whole new stick

Update: Blew the original Xbox PCB thankfully. It still works on PS3 so I can deal with that.

Any update on a VX kitty kit? Or does the VLX work in the VX?

i may figure this out in the 5-15 mins but i thought i ask in case anyone has had this be4.

te-s kitty kit

ps3 mode: works fine but the 1P led does not light up on the turbo panel. I check the button input on the pc and the signal is there.
Xbox mode (and forced xbox mode): all leds around the guide button are lit. So, nothing happens, checked on the pc and same result…i think wired it right. have the te-s big harness, both 7 pin connectors go to the led pcb and main xbox360 pcb and have the two 6 pins go to the kitty pcb. strange…i know i either can reflash it or trace and see what I plugged in wrong.

So Kitty in a Brawlstick is a no go officially? That sucks if true as I had plans to mod two of em :frowning:

Nothing to stop you using a ChImp SMD or MC Cthulhu instead.

Just installed my TE Kitty in my Round 2 stick yesterday; Process went very smoothly. Closest thing to a setback was connecting the joystick cable backwards, which was ID’d during the excellent and thorough testing process. Thumbs up for this product and for the documentation, thanks!

reflash didn’t work. I didnt think it would. back to re-plugging everything and putting each point to the meter

No updates. I want to do it, just havent been able to do it yet.

1P LED: Verify it lights up when you turn on turbo in xbox360 mode. I suspect it does. Problem is the resistor or diode for that LED line on the bottom of the kitty board.
Xbox Guide LEDs: Check the ‘V’ ribbon cable connecting the Kitty to the TE board. Guide LED signals are carried through there. Since Im assuming it works fine in other modes, displaying the stick direction, then the problem is between the TE pcb and the MUX on the Kitty that handles it. Sounds like one end is entirely not connected.

Yeah, not supported. The installation would require soldering of wires and dremelling of cases, and I would want no part in that.

Heh, both symptoms are pretty specific to hardware or connection problems. Reflashing wont help.

i will try just seeing with the 360 pcb by itself do. seems after i unplugged and replugged. same result with the all guide leds light in 360 mode and not recognized. but like u said, its between the kitty and the 360 pcb since the top panel works fine in ps3/pc mode

EDIT: i may have found the issue. the v ribbon like you said. I am running the widget led controller from that. let me take it off and see if there is change

EDIT: negative…not the case

Im unclear, is the 360 pcb showing up and working on the 360 and PC in forced 360 mode?

I have the EXACT same problem as KetchupNinja.
Only difference is my stick is a TE and not a TE-S
I have went through all the trouble shooting steps as he did and I guess you had to send him another board. The kitty board works fine but does not pass through to the 360 board. 360 does not recognize it and the computer says unknown device malfunction when I plug it in via forced 360 mode. I continuity checked the usb cables and they are fine. As with ketchupninja I then reconnected the usb cables together and bypassed the kitty board and the computer saw the 360 stick fine.

I fixed his, which I’d be happy to do for yours as well. It’d be a bit easier if I knew what the resistance values you measured were.

no worries Toodles sir. I got it working. i will attempt to fix the 1P turbo LED later this weekend hopefully. Not my best work but here are some photos or my te kitty and widget setup in a sfxt stick

^ all buttoned up

^ Test fit. The wiring to the widget was redone since it was too long as u can see. I also re-organized the kitty wiring since i got lost in it all. This was right after i did some cutting to fit the pcb. After my difficulties above, i re-did the wiring to clean up this nasty mess.

Is this what you want me to do?

as you see i still need to figure out the 1P and 4P LED issue but i had music going and made a quick video

I did the test, put it in xbox mode with ony usb out wires connected. Removed green/white, resistance between white out/xbox is 6.7 and Green out/xbox is 149.5. Does that sound right?
