Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

I wonder if anyone know about which PCB is in the X360 Asian TE (the all white one with no game branding).
I really want to get a TEKitty but it has the same color and button layout as the BlazBlue TE so I’m wondering it has the currently incompatible updated PCB too?

Same rules apply: If lock switch disables Start and Select, you’ll have to wait for the TE-S harness. If not, you’re good to go.
According to d3v in this thread:
http://shoryuken.com/f177/te-differences-233795/
It should be perfectly fine as-is and doesn’t require the TE-S harness.

Hey d3v, speaking of which, from what I’ve seen so far, the different Xbox360 models of TE that have different button layouts use identical pcb’s for the distribution block and main board; the only differences are different LED/Guide/Turbo pcbs, so that the LED signal go to the LED for that layout. Makes a ton of sense since the LED daughterboard would be the easiest and cheapest to make changes to and other versions. It also saves my ass so that the light up LED stuff works as it should as long as the button layout matches what that LED daughterboard was setup for.

TE Kitty install guide 1.0 posted up. Comments/criticism always welcome.
FML I hate writing.

will i have any clearance issues with the TE Kitty if i am not using the bezel to lift up the control panel? (full panel art)

@toodles, you may hate it, but the work is appreciated. just an fyi

offers up a high five

Nope, should be perfectly fine.

I’m thinking about picking a kitty for an xbox360 VLX. Does the Kitty PCB make hooking up the yet to be released SPARK any easier or more difficult? Will SPARK be compatible with Kitty?

Toodles, Will you be making RJ-45 system cables available through lizardlick? If I do the kitty mod I would be interested in PS3, Dreamcast and Gamecube compatibility.

Ok, Hori VLX purchase desire just went up 120%.

Hooking a Spark up to a TE Kitty will be stupid simple since the power wire will just screw into a screw terminal. VLX version has a through hole you can solder the power wire to, or you can jimmy rig it with the ‘shove wire into connector’ method.

Not sure about myself or LizardLick making them; no plans set in stone yet. But, I do know the Nitewalker and probably other techs have them for sale in the Trading Outlet.

On the TE, cutting off the nub from the usb wire that’s on the inside of the cable compartment would have no effect whatsoever on functionality–correct? I wanted to make the USB cable jusssst a bit shorter before wiring it to the Kitty board.

I don’t think I understand what you’re asking, and I’d hate to give a bad answer on something that could mess up the mod. Can you tell me more about what you’re trying to do and what you’re thinking of cutting?

TE Install guide updated to include screwdriver trick for removing the JST PH connectors (all of them except the headset and the joystick connectors) easily.

On a TE, when you pull out the entire length of the cable from the compartment… there’s that cylinder that prevents the cable going any furter into the case–that. Could I cut that off to shorten the cable a bit?

Sure. I think it is another ferrite ring meant to help with the stability of the signal, so I may not be too receptive if you have intermittant disconnects, but I’d expect it’ll work just peachy.

Well… would I be accomplishing that signal stability if I put back the ferrite ring that was taken off during installation? That larger one that’s inside the case that the cable was wrapped in & around? Or is that not the same thing?

Hey Toodles,
Do you still have some of the TE Kitty boards left? I’m waiting for payment on one of my Namco sticks I have for sale. Once I get that I would like to pick up one of these. I’d pick up 2 but my other X360 TE is a Chun Li, so I will have to wait for that reversion.

Thanks

It certainly won’t hurt, and could help. Go for it.

Yup, got bunches.

Sounds good–thanks.

Any chance you’d create a PS3 version of this, exactly the same just without the ability to use on 360? I don’t think I’m alone, but I’d love to use this board on my PS3 sticks but I’m not gonna buy a 360 stick just to get it :frowning:

Toodles, just completed the install. Any reason why 2p would trigger both 2p+3p at the same time (Windows XP buttons 4+5 in game controller applet)? I disconnected all the connections to the 360 TE because I thought there might be some bridged connections, but it’s still happening. I don’t see any exposed wires on either end of the harness that goes from the terminal block to the 360 end.

Also, the TE lights light up on button/directional press only sometimes. Is that indicative of something?

Edit - aha, getting somewhere, I think. 2p will only activate 2p+3p when the harness is connected to the Kitty. It doesn’t even have to be connected to the TE PCB; just being connected seems to bridge 2p & 3p. Pictures attached - note and compare the lights on the guide section.
