Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

You using a Kitty board? Because I believe the USB for PS3 goes threw the same USB cable that the 360 uses.

yeah i know…just thought i could of made a usb rj45 cord or some sort…thought it was just my crummy work but guess it wont work

It works fine. I use an RJ-45 -> USB cable to test the boards after programming.

Received, assembled, and works great Thanks ~<3

So can you use the regular TE USB for 360 AND PS3, and if so, can you also use it for Xbox (assuming I have an xbox to USB converter)?

…and an extension of that, is it possible to use RJ45>USB cable for 360 or do you have to use the default USB?

Yes, yes, and yes. PS3/360/Xbox1 all work through built in USB or via RJ-45. (with USB -> Xbox1 adapter required for USB to Xbox1, natch)

Thanks for the quick reply Toodles.

what program i need to open hex file? i have windows 7 64 bit i wanna change my buttons on the ps3 side of my vlx

change the button mapping because you rewired your button layout? you can just use the on the fly button remap which i believe is holding guide + back for like 10 seconds. its mentioned someone in the first few pages.

o so to do the button mapping i just plug it in holding the guide button for 10 seconds ? i thought i needed the hex part

yeah i changed the 360 layout to te layout now its all messed up on ps3 and other systems i wanted to figure it out if not i would have to change 360 side back to hori layout

Hey Toodles, I know EVO’s happening right now so you’re probably busy and whatnot, but when you see this I’d like to know what you suggest I do here

toodles explains how to use the OTF remap in this post:

I have a TE Round 2, I got the “Toodles TE Kitty Kit”

I tried to download the instalation manual but seems like the site is off line, someone can send me the manual?

I’ve run into another minor problem, when I force 360 mode or have my vlx plugged into my 360 itself the select button doesn’t function I’ve confirmed it working on pc, I’ll check my ps3 here in a moment, but I don’t think that there will be any problems there.

Hey Toodles! Ive recently bought a VLX Kitty second hand on the Trading Outlet from Masturfader, Ive made sure my VLX was working properly and went ahead with the install. Once installed and testing, I get player lights 1 and 4 (Top Left, Bottom Right) when holding guide. I check my connections, flip them around, and get nothing still. Plugged into the PC, it doesnt get recognized. Took the Kitty out and returned the VLX back to stock and is working properly. Whats my next step for troubleshooting?

Remember me? The one with the bad PCB from a few pages back?

So I got my hands on one of the WWE Brawlsticks on the cheap because I was under the impression that they have the same PCB as the SEs. Looks like this is not the case. On the PCB from my round 1 TE (the dead one), the RSTICK and XGUILD plugs have 6 pins. On the PCB from the Brawlstick (the new one), they each have 8 pins. Similarly, the BE6 & BE7 plug on the TE board has 5 pins, whereas the Brawlstick PCB has 6 pins on that plug.

The back of the TE board has the label STF4718(U-COMM)-1 Main REV.B. The Brawlstick reads MVC47187(SED)-1 MAIN REV.A1

So… am I screwed? Is there any chance in hell that this is something I could fix if I got one of the TE-S harnesses?

For clarity’s sake, here are pictures of what I’m talking about: Brawlstick PCB top and Brawlstick PCB bottom. (As opposed to the TE PCB I had that broke).

Wire the buttons so the 360 layout is how you want. Then remap the buttons on the Kitty modes you use.
Pro-tip: For the majority of supported controllers, the street fighter standard layout you probably expect can be set without knowing anything; hold down the buttons to get into button config mode, then press 1P 1K 2P 2K 3P 3K 4P 4K and you’re done. For PS3/PSX, that would be the normal layout with R1 and R2 for fierce and roundhouse.

Murphy’s Law; like 2 days before Evo, the DNS servers hosting the files goes tits up and they still havent fixed it. Im working on getting the URLs updated so they’ll work, stay tuned.
In the meantime, Strogg was nice enough to upload it to his server:

Sounds like a connection problem between the VLX Kitty and the black box, specifically the 6 pin ribbon. Plug it into a 360, and start playing with turbo; verify if the turbo slider works as it should, and that the green turbo LED works as it should.

The lights when holding guide are correct; that’s the bootloader. what happens when you plug it into a PC without holding the guide button? Does it show up in the game controller’s applet?

I finally saw one of the Brawl sticks in person at Evo for the first time, and the wiring between main board and LED panel is slightly different; a 6 pin, and two eight pin connectors, instead of either three 6 pin connectors (TE) or two 6 pin and one 7 pin (TE-S).
Could you get hacky and try to salvage it? Probably, but it’d be better to let a pro do it, at least until that board is documented. I havent done any testing on those additional lines, and couldn’t tell you anything about how they need to be handled.

i convod you idk if it is cause i have the first vlx kitty but when i hold the buttons stated the lights never turn off they end up all on
and xbox mode does not work 260/ps3/dreamcast/ps2 all work on xbox mode the light stays on top left amd the xbox does not pick up the controller am i suppost to hold something in xbox mode?

hit me back here on in convo thanks

Damn. That’s what I was expecting. Okay, thanks Toodles. I’ll pack this lil’ bastard back together and see if I can’t get someone to take it off my hands.

A word of warning, then, to others looking to Kitty up: stay away from the Brawlsticks!

its fine to convo me, but I’ve been digging into the thread backlog first. I’ll get to the convo later today.
Xbox1 mode currently doesn’t update the Guide LEDs like the other modes do, so please make sure to test the buttons and stick for a reaction in the Xbox1 dashboard.
