How much protection did the RAP Pro Travel Bag provide? To be honest, when I get my VLX, the only way it’s going out is in the travel bag. I have my dual modded RAF3 stick as my travel stick.
rtdzign made a thread for it. Check it out here:

Loving this beast.
Oh and this non slip board that comes with the VLX is perfect (well I suppose it could have been slightly larger to be considered perfect) for use as a control panel for a 2p stick lol.
Can anyone here offer me some advice. Maybe it’s just SSF2T related, but I’m having a difficult timing pulling moves off with Ryu whether it be his Hadouken, Shoryuken, and sometimes Tatsu.
Now, I’ve played on sticks for years and have a Mas stick that I can do everything I want to easily without thinking twice. I know it’s a square gate on the VLX. Could that be the problem as I’ve never really played on jap sticks before? I haven’t had a chance to try super 4 yet with the VLX unfortunately.
I’d say you just need to give it time. Moving from American to Japanese parts is quite a change. My advice is to try to not ride the gate when you do moves. It takes a lighter touch but you get used to it.
Huzzahhh!!!
I managed to get one of these bad boys to the U.K(!) whilst taking full benefit of the ‘black Friday sale’ from Amazon.com in the USA. All in all including shipping, I paid £200 not bad really considering they retail in the US @ $299 and Japan @ 30,000yen.
Yipeeeee!

Awesome! Thanks for the link, I wonder when Amazon.ca will start stocking these bags, it’s obviously going to make the free delivery but stupid provincial taxes is gonna be an extra $5 or more…
From what I noticed, it’s sorta like pad to stick transition but quicker in my opinion. Different types of sticks will give you a different initial experience so you could either try to get used to the Sanwa JLF stick in the VLX or you can try to mod the VLX with the MAS stick you’re used to.
It’s the same at the local casuals I attend, there are so many players used to JLF sticks there that when people try my stick with a Seimitsu LS-56, the majority of them find it too sensitive/responsive and hate it for what they’re not used to while a small number of people really like it. I plan to swap out the JLF in the VLX with another LS-56 when I get mine.
I will also rewire/move the buttons on the 360 version so I can just default the button configuration without going to TYPE-C(Xbox 360 whereas the MvC2 TE stick is TYPE-B). Pretty much figured out the reason why there are so many pre-loaded button configs since the casuals have almost all types of sticks there.
worth the price?
Sure if you got $300 to blow. If you think about it, there are absolutely no other manufacturers that sells a stick for double the price of a standard TE/HRAP stick which are regarded as the best out of the box sticks so far. Also makes a nice novelty collector’s item as well for gaming fans like the Sega HSS sticks which are pretty much CPs out of Sega Astro/Net/Blast City cabs.
Other than that, the VLX Premium doesn’t boost your skill so it’s one of those “To each his own” situations.
Anyone here got the balls to try to put a custom graphic on their VLX or has tried to make a template yet? I know there is that awesome custom VLX Premium in Japan where the dude changed out the metal plate for a Sega Astro City layout with the Otomedius girls on it a couple pages back.
Actually just found out that there’s someone who has done a couple of them from jyo-customize:

Got an extra $145? The creator sells the plexi-glass + metal plate on Yahoo Auctions Japan for 7,800 JPY opening bid/8,800 JPY buy it now. Add in the proxy service fees(700 JPY + 10% auction fee plus double shipping) and it’s just about $145.

wow thats sick and expensive too, if i ever have $450 extra, ill grab it, IMO astro city layout > viewlix
hakdizzle is the only owner in U.S. that I have seen with custom artwork on a VLX. (purple, of course!) There was a slight problem with the start button and he was going to get it reprinted. It is #10073 in “Check out my new arcade stick!” thread on page 403. :looney:
I am all for modding but, the VLX looks dope as is. The Astro layout above looks nowhere near as good IMO, Asro city layout looks best on an Astro City stick or cab.
I have found that the VLX sounds hollow and tinny (guess that’s a given with the construction) to the point that friends can hear me mashing!! (K I don’t mash really, but everyone I play can now hear me through there headsets lol)
I like the size and weight of the stick and based on the sale Amazon had for Black Friday it was a great purchase … are my custom builds better? … yes, by a mile (modest) but it is still a great stick … realistically though, you get get a TE for around £50-£60 these days, nothing can come close to the TE based on these prices.
^I hope not to the point of what the HRAP EX SE sounds like, that thing sounds really hollow whereas the HRAP V3/VX sounds a little more solid.
So if I have a stock LS-56, can I mount it on to the Premium VLX with no problems? My Qanba that came stock with Sanwa JLF + buttons only mounted with the two bottom screws in whereas I was about to get some Loctite for the top since the screws were completely off. Either that or I’ll get my buddy to spring mod the stock JLF in the VLX. Again, I have to mention that if you want a next to custom mass produced stick, grab a Qanba, mine should weigh one pound less than the VLX at the size of a regular sized stick. Again, even though I got a dual modded awesome stick, I still had to get the VLX because it looks like a treasure for enthusiasts.
Mine just arrived today, next to my Qanba, looks like jUtmAN22!'s picture

Seimitsu LS-56 fits like a glove"

Finally, a seller offers TAITO ashtrays. I ordered one immediately for my VLX setup. I don’t smoke. It’s only for the appearance.
where can i get one??!!
nvm i found it lol

Yes, I purchased it there!
Any word if the bag for the VLX will be available again? Any place to order them other than the Hori website?
This is my current upgrade-idea for the VLX-base:

It can be built around the current design. Details might change here and there. I’m considering to mount speakers left and right from the FADC instructions sticker. My monitor has built-in speakers, so extra speakers would be purely for better audio and cosmetics.
OMG !!! I quit smoking years ago but that Taito Ashtray will be godlike for holding my screws!!
Must… resist… consumerism… URGE!!!
