Been doing some searching for a connector that will work with the JST-RA for cleanest modding. According to JST’s site, the RA series is designed to work with other brand’s same-pin connectors.
I looked over previous PCB pics and saw the 26 on the bottom of the PCB near the RA, and I counted at least 24 wires coming off the CP harness, so I’m assuming its a 26-pin JST RA connector since I don’t see a 24-pin model in production. I think I also saw 13 solder points. On the board too.
I think this connector should fit:
Connectors - IDC Sockets - IDCMHL26
If so, I think I have my solution for a PS360 Dual mod. Option #1 would be to just solder directly to the exposed pin backs then heat shrink/tape up the exposed joints, but I think a cleaner idea (Option #2) is to try and get a small PCB fabbed to solder this connector to and then just solder from the PS360 directly to this PCB. Hopefully all this can be stashed in the PCB housing as well.
Any ideas? Anyone know a cheap/easy place to make a PCB like this for me? I wonder if Toodles would be interested in a one-off project like this…
Edit:
Did some digging, found this Connector and I think it will fit spot-on with the female end coming off the CP harness. Its also IDC, so ordered a 26-wire ribbon cable to go along with it, should be a pretty clean mod once I get the USB situation sorted out and the PS360 PCB in hand.
