Hey Benjamin. Are you going to enter my OldSkoolBeatdown tournament!?
My PS3 VLX arrived today! I knew it was gonna be big, but DAMN! I am very impressed with the quality of this stick, and I think it’s worth every penny! I must admit, the Amazon packaging was HORRIBLE! The outer box was extremely thin, and you could stick your arms through the side flaps. I am really surprised that my stick arrived undamaged.

Well it sounds better than what the Hori Store did to mine. They put the UPS label directly on the Stick box, no outer packaging. Just a 1/8inch of cardboard separating my VLX from the elements. To top it off the UPS guy just left it on my doorstep. No doorbell ring or nothing. Was walking through the living room watching the UPS guy getting into his truck from the window. Good thing I was home and I live in a neighborhood where I don’t think I’ve had anything stolen from my porch.
Quoted for truth.
I just got my PS3 variant yesterday, and damn, it is one fine piece of hardware; not only did I not find any scratches or any other careless defects (cough Madcatz cough), but the wiring job in the inside was actually done in an agreeable way. It’s the complete opposite for my MvC2 TE – cramped wiring job and incorrect placement of inputs (inside the box, it states which wires are what – some of them, such as “L1” iirc, wasn’t correct, as it would be connected to a different button). Sure, you’re re-using the bases, but try to at least stick with whatever’s written >.>.
I gotta admit that $300 is a bit too much, but meh, after the upgrade that my PC recently endured (got a really good deal on an i7 950 + XFX 5870), there’s nothing else to buy… for now
Come on guys, let’s face it, there’s really no point in asking regular people who just spent 300 on an arcade stick if they’re happy or not with their purchase of the vlx. Most people will force themselves to like their purchase just to justify their decision in pumping out so much money on a single piece of accessory which has the same costing buttons and stick as a regular madcatz TE which is less than half the price.
The stick looks great, almost like in the arcade, but paying $150 extra just for different art work / cabinet shape? Count me out, at least until they get a price cut.
Thank you for your opinion.
The JLF-stick and buttons are irrelevant. Those parts are cheap. You buy this stick 100% because of the housing. The HRAP.EX Premium VLX housing is gigantic, has an aluminum-printed textured mirror top panel, a steel outer shell that weighs a ton and the Vewlix cabinet shape. You can’t call this just “an accessory”. That would be like calling an expensive photo camera lens “just an accessory” while the lens + body of the camera are equal. The same goes for the VLX. It is so extremely high quality and essential that it is 100% equal to the gaming console. I have both a VLX and a TE stick (I even had 2 TE sticks). While the TE is a very good stick, the housing of the TE is not in the VLX’s league.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Here’s mine: This stick is like going from SDTV to HDTV. It’s that good. :badboy:
i can’t wait to get mine. it should be here on monday when I’m in school
You know what gets me about the logic that those of us who bought the VLX have to justify our purchases to ourselves? That logic can be reversed, and VLX owners can simply state that 99% of complaints about the VLX’s relate to the price, how we are stupid for paying so much; yet they’re really jealous because they simply cannot afford one. Of course this isn’t the TRUTH, but I do think those of us who BOUGHT a VLX are in a far better position to judge whether or not it’s a good purchase than yet another person pointing out that the VLX is $300… like we didn’t know that already.
I’m not sure about the others, but I can honestly say that my money was well spent. Initially, I was very skeptical of this stick first as well. Then I gave into the hype, figuring I could sell it if I didn’t like it. Honestly, the stick is amazing to me. The reason I’m so amazed by the stick is the weight and sturdiness. I like to play tabletop whenever possible, and this beast just FEELS solid. Honestly, you can’t get the feeling of “pounding the shit out of an arcade stick, knowing it’s not going to even budge” with a TE that you can on a VLX. It pretty much doesn’t feel like a stick on a tabletop, but a cabinet.
Then again, this is all simply my opinion. In the end, I really don’t regret my purchase and found it to be money well spent. But it could be because I always remember that some people paid $500 - $600 for these earlier this year…
EDIT: I just noticed how all the owners of the VLX quickly had a response to Uno_Ken’s opinion, lol.
I think if Ueno_Ken actually used this stick he would understand what an incredible arcade cabinet experience it gives. Photos just don’t do justice to how good it really is.
Should of ordered from my sponsor!
I made a video of the VLX in action:

I wouldn’t sell my VLX stock for $500 once it is sold out. Actually the way I multi-console modded and installed an ASCII optical stick and discontinued Sanwa buttons, If I was at an event holding my VLX and if someone waved $700 cash to offer to buy it, I would tell them to keep walking.
i say light blue. aqua is nice but it might stand out a bit. unless you want it to but idk. my preference…i suck at color matching so my opinion isn’t the best XP
i love my vlx
You have like 9 of them ><
