Official HORI RAP Premium VLX (VEWLIX) - VX (360); V3 (PS3) - Arcade Stick Thread

Im still thinking it isn’t worth the price. His quality/construction doesnt match the price. You can see at this video its not strong solid construction by light reflects moving when playing. Its OK for an average stick; absolutely not for one of this price.

I think for any large panel you’ll notice movement. Minimize that surface area and of course, it’s not going to appear to move.

Higashibashi, will you be transporting the stick around? I’d say if you are, then go with the V3SA, as it’s a reasonable size to carry around. The VLX is a good stationary-at-home stick that’s good for table top play. Want to make it feel the most like an arcade? Then you get a VLX.

I actually yesterday ordered the VLX. Where I am there aren’t any V3SAs available anywhere at all for anywhere near the retail price. So I cracked and went for the big one. I won’t be paying any delivery charges so that’s one good thing.

Yeah I mean
i had all 3 at the same time (VX, V3, and VLX)
vlx is worth the money if u have it. If you don’t, and you need a tourney carry stick, then don’t get the vlx. and of course light reflects of the panel, its a metal panel with a CHROME sticker on top of it. So visibly it might seem like it has some flex, MAYBE? but i haven’t felt it at all. It really does feel close to the BB vewlix cabinet i played on quite a bit in maryland for a while.

Its not about the reflecting surface quality, but the “not-for-the-price” solid construction that you can check by panel moving when playing, and you can see this by light reflects. You have to see the video to know what Im talking about.

Looks like the whole Arcade Stick is moving though.

Still looks awesome to me

The VLX does not move. It has rubber through the whole bottom surface and the stick is very heavy (7 kg). If you see it move in any video, it’s the table that’s moving on wobbly legs.

LOL video. From reading reviews with people that have first hand experience, I wouldn’t think this is an issue and just an assumption of the quality. Heck you might even think the Hori line up seems cheap because it has a hollow sound when rocking the joystick back and forth.

Indeed. I have this stick and can assure anyone that it is 100% solid. The stick’s panel is made of heavy steel and the bottom’s rubber has such a large surface that the only way to move it is to lift it up. You can’t even forcefully push it aside because the rubber and weight won’t let you. It is absolutely impossible to move during play, unless the platform on which it stands isn’t stable.

Thats the case would be even worse.

Its not the whole arcade stick, but the surface top panel not perfectly attached to it, as you can appreciate by light reflectings on that video.

Perhaps paying $400 on the stick, has something to do with subjective perceptions after purchasing.

I just believe and talking about an issue easily seen on that video demostration. Jesus!! can you all see the video before talking? Am I the only one with eyes here?

Im just saying if Im going to put $400 on a device, I cant overlook this kinda issues. you dont care? its OK, but thats my opinion.

$400? so it has to be ABSOLUTELY rock solid. Otherwise, absolutely NO WAY.

Just saw the video. I think it’s the camera on the table moving.

But this isn’t even an “issue”. The top panel isn’t even “moving” out of place. You know you can make the top of any arcade stick flex like that right? I’m assuming this top panel has artwork for the Taito/Vewlix look. Now if you were to take off that and use some type of thinner sticker/vinyl artwork over the metal control panel, then it wouldn’t “flex”. I’m not saying you have to do that, but just a solution for your crybaby issue.

If it was an issue, then in a couple months, I’d see that artwork sticker start lifting off of the panel and flopping around. Or in the case, one of the previous posters has one VLX with all sorts of QC issues such as his panel not matching up.

The best recommendation that I can give you is to NOT buy this stick.

really?

It’s kind of like a TV purchase. People are finding little quirks like scratches and misaligned parts that have been present. A lot of the people in this thread are " overlooking " it, and I’m not sure why. Some people have went as far as trying to get something done about it, and the reply from the manufacture was, " Sorry, this stuff just happens. "

If you’re going to spend $400 you would expect something of high quality without ANY FAULTS WHAT-SO EVER. What some of the people in this thread are reporting back is unacceptable, in my opinion. Unless I knew my product was going to be shipped to me in %100 working order without any faults, I would never lay down the cash like that.

Mine does not flex or shake at all, so I’m content. it’s not $400 either btw, nor is the VLX the most expensive stick I own.

mine is absolutely fine

Finally someone who gets my point.

I think the flexing of the panel is a non issue. It has to do with the fact that all metal arcade panels are made with 18 gauge steel, like this one, and have some small amount of negligible flexibility, but is bolted down in 8 places so it isn’t moving around anymore than a official vewlix. In a official japanese metal panel arcade machine, if it had a mirrored surface it would do exactly the same.

With that said, If I got a VLX like EvilBento and Kyouske with the construction flaws, I would threaten a credit card chargeback right away if they refuse to replace the unit.
