What stick is that? The button layout is different. Did he just make a whole new cover?
It appears that he removed the stock top plate and replaced it. I am considering removing my top plate and making a replacement, but probably wonāt because I donāt need to.
Got mine today, first took it out of the box, something is loose and rattling around inside the right white edge. And most annoying of all the figment is off so when u close the panel it doesnāt line upā¦
Just wanted to confirm the PS3 version does indeed work with PC.
Mine has a couple small scratches but nothing worth me bickering about as Iām sure Iāll add a couple more in time. Understand people who would be upset by that though.
Nice to find out the screws inside the cord compartment are thumbstyleā¦so it was easy to open up. I guess design would have been an issue but a thumbscrew on the far right might have been nice as on the far right top corner of the panel thereās a slight gapā¦like I can push down on the panel and there is a little bit of playā¦just constructive criticismā¦Iām well happy with purchase.
I like how it follows the curve of her hip.
I ordered both at Evo for $269.99 each. Iāve ordered from the Hori booth in past Evos and remembered that they free shipped because I wasnāt about to take these beasts on a plane with me when I only did carryon. When you order at the booth, they do it off their USA Shop website anyway.
I got both my PS3 & 360 models yesterday as well. Carrying this beast of a box up 3 flights of stairs sucked (packaged shipped at 42lbs according to UPS).
Quick unfocused pictures with the iPhone 4. Thereās pictures of the box, and the main box both came in if anyone gives a damn. I also put them next to the 2 sticks (in relation to the boxes) Iām replacing for another size comparison.
Overall Iām happy, but I need to check the stick surface when I get home from work to see if I have any of the problems a few of you posters had. I find the stick incredibly comfortable to play on though.
The only modding I think I would do is change the stick to bubble top because I love the clearness.
I really love the feel of this stick, but the construction is really bugging me, Iām in talk with hori usa right now, hopefully they will replace mine with a better unit.

Lugged this thing clear through downtown Chicago. Ordered it at work 'cause I didnāt want it standing outside my house for hours till I got home.
Not fun carrying a big box through crowded rush hour to and out the train station. Still, itās a great stick. I did find some minor hairline nicks on the top, but nothing for me to worry about. I did, after all, shove this thing underneath my TV when I was done. Iāll be working on adjusting some space for it later.
The only issues I had with the stick were that I heard some clanging around the inside of the box. I found out it was just the middle thumbscrew that holds the top closed that had become loose. Not a big deal.
My only other worry was that I heard some weird snap when I was about to close the top. Not the snap you hear when you actually close it, but a strange snap coming from somewhere near the joystick.
I didnāt hear it again, and I didnāt notice any problems thereafter.
Is this the best stick then available? Best as in actual stick and button responsiveness? Iām looking for a better stick than my current Hori Fighting Stick 3 which I find too light and cheap feeling.
It uses the same sanwa buttons as the hori hrap 3 sa, and the madcatz te. and any other stick you put your sanwa buttons in.
Sad to see so many production problems. That stand that someone someone made was an awesome idea though. I might have to get something like that made for myself as well.
Hori told me that this product is mass produced and even if they send me another one it might have the same defects and wont give me a refund. Ive had it with hori this is the third stick from them i have. im switching to mad catz
tried to take the stick out, first screw i tried stripped extremely easy. just a heads up.
Madcatz isnt any better with quality
So Iād be better off getting a HRAP 3 SA for a lot cheaper than the VLX version?
yes for sure. unless you realllly love the vlxās looks, but its not like its better in anyway that would make you play better, unless you like the vewlix layout better than the hrap3ās astro/blast city layout.
Glad they decided to bring those over here. I might purchase one of each. I hope Hori decides to bring the RAP V3-SA and RAP VX-SA.
No.
if you can afford the VLX, go for it. Donāt let someone who cant afford / or own the stick tell you otherwise.
Mine is in perfect condition and doesnt have any flex or stripped screws ( I opened the top panel like 8times already too)
Iām sorely tempted by the VLX. Iāve had a few people say avoid it though and go for the HRAP V3 SA.
