MvC3, like D3, is a textbook example of “try to fix what isn’t broken, add goofy shit that doesn’t need to be added, and ruin everything in the process, but it doesn’t matter because people will buy it.”
Couldn’t make it past two minutes of stupid emoting. So does Zach Braff like Diablo 3?
I think the game is solid enough, act 4 is too lax on the maps and the atmosphere isnt there. Dont understand why you’d let people unsocket gems though (thus making them less rare). Obvious the game wants to to use gold/real money and buy the best stuff from the AH.
Another thing that is complete and utter bullshit in the game: the fact that only one of the three controlling stats matters to any given class.
If classes were a little bit more nuanced, then items would be far more interesting.
Something with massive int + str would potentially have a major market, if, say, a WD were controlled by int as its primary, str as its secondary stat.
As opposed to being a pocketful of silver, or scrap.
I am genuinely upset because I desperately want to like this game, but I am having an outrageously difficult time in doing so. I’m having to work so much harder for enjoyment than I should have to, and not in the good way like say… Dark Souls or STALKER where working to figure out the world and digging around for your fun is, well, part of the fun. This is just… frustrating.
I want to like this, so I keep telling myself that if I keep playing it that it will be more fun and its not getting there for me. D2 is my number 1 PC game, and possibly favorite game, of all time. This just doesn’t FEEL like it should. I’m not having fun dying, and running from bosses because they immediately slap your shit. I’m not enjoying the mobs. I’m not enjoying the combat. I don’t enjoy the graphics, or the setting.
Hell, the only thing I really do like is the way gear looks, and the story that the followers tell.
But I’m apprehensive about Torchlight 2 because its so cartoony. I feel dumb like, putting hours in and showing off my big handed, big headed, shiny goofy looking character while I run around and slap skeletons that look like they are from Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Though I will say that TL2 is what a D3 sequel would have been had it been released 6 years ago.
I want my grimdark game with realistic human shapes, and exploding bloated corpses that spray acid all over me and melt my skin off. ):
I’m kind of confused, Rabbit, because you said you wanted the game to be challenging, but you’re not having fun dying when it gets challenging? :wonder:
Have you seen what is needed to craft a Radiant Star Ruby?
I support any action that makes gems less rare
Only in NM, but I think it’s because challenge in D3 is kinda random depending on what modifiers Champions spawn with. You never really know what’s coming up. In D2 when I played a Zealot Paladin Act 4 always made me shit bricks because of Iron Maiden, but at least I knew it was coming and could prepare for it. D3 you can be cakewalking through a zone then suddenly run into a Unique that’s near impossible to beat because of the modifiers. I suppose that’s the equivalent of getting hit with a random maximum wesker crossup in Marvel 3?
EDIT: Compared to a game like Demon’s Souls (haven’t played Dark Souls, waiting for PC version) nobody, at least I don’t think, has a problem with dying or the challenge in those games. You knew that if you died it was on you and it was rewarding whenever you managed to progress. Dying in D3 is more I ran into a mob with x, y and z perks which outright counters my character/build, time to re-roll the map.
I understand what Rabbit is saying with the uniques/rare bosses which spawn with way out there too strong abilities.
I think this is where the next two patches for this game will come in handy. I think by the second patch, the enemies will be more balanced with all the information people [S]with no life[/S] who really love D3 are feeding them.
I agree that the random modifiers on elite packs can make things pretty randomly challenging. It also depends on what kind of mobs you run into as well. However, D2 was very similar with the elite packs, although many combinations were not that threatening. The only really scary one that stood out was Multiple Shots, Extra Fast, Lightning Enchanted before they nerfed the MS/LS combo on mobs.
Overall, Act I Inferno has been challenging but pretty rewarding. We have run into some really bullshit combinations before but nothing that has really caused us to reroll the map. Act II completely bodied us though. Gotta farm up more of Act I before we can move on.
As melee, elite packs are much more challenging. There is a lot of kiting involved as you wait for defensive abilities to come back up. Fortunately, I’m doing all right with my current Monk build.
It isn’t a consistent challenge. D2 was like, okay, here is what is gonna happen, everything is going to 1 shot you pretty much. Deal with it. Which is fine, though sort of artificial.
D3 is floating back and forth between instant death and trying to be genuinely hard with tricky mobs and random skills, and it’s failing at the latter. It should be one or the other. Whenever I died in D2 it was because I let myself get hit. When I die in D3 its because the game reached into its bag of bullshit and tossed out a heaping handful of we dont give a fuck.
On top of that, getting killed means nothing in D3.
Public games are not on by default right? So basically if I just resume my game no one can get in except my friends right?
Looks like its time for me to use the mobile authenticator. I don’t want anyone stealing my chipped emeralds.
Side note, if you find a pack of mobs with Molten, but nothing that’s going to body you if you stand close (Plague, Molten, Arcane, etc), you should move close to the mobs if you are ranged. Molten has a minimum range AOE that it cannot hit, so this will save you a lot of grief.
I agree with Rabbit on the inconsistent AI. Just now with Diamond Armor on I had one of those Bulls Vampiric Pull me from across the screen right on to them and they 1HK me with a charge right after that and there was literally nothing I could have done about it. This is NOT a rare occurrence either.
Is anyone here with the btag GeNiE or something like that? If you are whispering me respond to this post and I’ll help you. I’m sort of paranoid since people have been saying they get hacked, so I’m not gonna join any games randomly and I’ve been hearing stuff about random friend requests.
Rare/Champion spawns are the new “bosses” of the game. The D3 Community Manager was talking about it in a thread on the Blizzard forums. Basically, Rare/Champion mobs have higher drop-rates than the bosses; these mobs are stronger than the bosses in order to reflect that. Blizz wants people to grind Rare/Champion mobs instead of bosses. On the other hand, since the bosses are the highest level mob in their respective Act, they have the potential for better loot, but at considerably lower drop-rates.
Asians love using names that alternate between upper and lower case characters. I’d be weary.
Grind mobs, get Neph stacks, try to get lewts. Exhaust mobs, go kill boss while buff is still get, try to get better lewts. Rinse repeat before going to Act II Inferno and realizing you need way better gear -_-
You are rather right. Since theres no restrictions on the name and you technically have 50 people with the same name, the upper and lower case thing does seem weird. I didn’t message him back or go into his game after he tried inviting me because it was out of the blue. Hopefully tomorrow all my stuff is there. I reached act 2 inferno and have like 14k dps now.
Act bosses will drop more loot than elite mobs if you have five stacks of the Nephalem buff.
Some things I noticed about Magic Find and the Nephalem buff.
- Magic Find increases the chance of getting higher quality loot in general, as well as make mobs drop more loot (e.g., a boss will drop more blues if you have a certain threshold of MF)
- The Nephalem buff always makes bosses and elites drop more loot; bosses will always drop 2-3 rares with five stacks, and elites will always drop something like at least three blues
- The Nephalem buff’s 75% magic find does NOT equal to gear’s magic find. The Nephalem buff has a special property of forcing more and better quality loot off of bosses and elites. You can experiment with this by killing a boss with 75% MF from your gear (and no Nephalem buffs). They will drop maybe one or two extra magic items. However, if you kill a boss with a five stack of the Nephalem buff, they will always drop at least two rares and a handful of blues, regardless of your passive MF from items.
Currently, passive MF on items just seems like ass. Don’t go out of your way to get it. The Nephalem buff seems to be more than enough for farming items at the moment.
Anyone playing a Monk with sword and board in Inferno? Possibly around Act 2? Looking to compare defensive stats to my DW Monk.
There is another reason D3 is dumb.
They ruined MF.
