Official Diablo 4 Thread : Hype train departing

D3 doesn’t ask for authenticator as long as you are logging in from a recognized location (one where you have already used an authenticator code).

Excellent analogy, it is an episode of Inu Yahsa where at the end everything is back to normal.

I just meant, two quests in Act 2 have this problem of making the random map design a big issue, where initially finding the dungeons can take a long time. It leaves open the problem, ‘you went exactly the wrong way so your trip took maximum time.’ It just so happens maximum time is relatively long compared with the rest of the game (and Diablo 2).

This is how the authenticator works in general (works the same way in WoW and SC2). It will only prompt you to authenticate about once a week until your recognized location changes. You can change this in your B.net account settings to prompt you every time you log on. I might do that just to stay extra safe.

what exactly is this hack going on? I have never had an authenticator message pop up in WoW or D3.

Also, as I was telling Clu earlier today, I wouldn’t touch Hardcore if it came with free blowjobs.

Some ways to lose your character forever:

  1. Poison + lag
  2. the servers fucking suck
  3. exploding enemies that do 2x your health
  4. wierd combinations of uniques that make it impossible to do anything but die (yaaaay fast mortar knockback leapers, my DH will easily be able to…oh im dead)

seriously, when I died in D2, it was because I didn’t use pots properly, or ran out, or got swarmed. In this game, one on one fights will kill me, because the enemy has a dozen was to instant kill you. And GET RID OF THE FUCKING POTION COOLDOWN. If I wanna spam ‘q’ like a mother fucker, damn well let me.

anywho, lemme know if anybody knows any info on updates or patches for this game. Whatever happened to the enchanter, or being able to add an empty socket to an item?

ummm or PvP?

sorry for double post

did a bit of reading:

basically, looks like u REALLY need to turn off public games. Anybody who plays with you, ensure they were invited, and you know them. There is a list of players to keep out of your games in that link, too

Diablo 2 also had instant death scenarios such as LEMS, ESFE death corpse explosion, and others which are very dangerous with lag spikes.

Since I cannot play on bnet without lag spikes, I won’t play a hardcore character.

I noticed a unique with walls and ice are also a hardcore character’s worse enemy in D3.

^Fuck those wall and ice uniques. Getting frozen and walled in is lame as shit when trying to set caltrops.

Game Master Kahillissa here, I wish I could have spoken to you directly. I see your Diablo III account has been compromised and I am really glad you contacted us about this. I know it’s upsetting and we’ll try to help as best we can, please read below for more information.

You may not have known but restorations for Diablo III accounts are limited, and we cannot guarantee the availability of future restorations after one is performed. Additionally, compromises are restored from a "snapshot" of your account prior to the compromise so the restoration process is extremely exact in scope and no changes can be made to the process. Because of this, we require your approval to use a limited restoration to address this compromise situation. If you would like us to proceed, please respond to this ticket and clearly say that you would like to use a limited restoration.

The following will be true of your restoration:
   1) There may be items still missing after the restoration.
   2) Any progress gained on any characters after the date of the compromise will be lost. So we suggest not progressing any further until a restoration is made which should not take long at all.
   3) It will affect your ability to use in game features such as the Real money auction house. You will be required to attach an authenticator to your account before the RMTAH is available for use.

If you do not respond, no restoration will be made for this issue. For additional information on how compromise restorations are handled for Diablo III accounts, see (http://www.battle.net/support/article/compromised-diablo-iii-account).

Note: After the first compromise restoration occurs on a Battle.net account, that account's access to the Diablo III Real Money Auction House will be restricted until an authenticator is attached. If the account is compromised a second time, access to the Diablo III Real Money Auction House will be permanently revoked. For more information on authenticators, see (http://www.battle.net/support/article/battle-net-authenticator-faq).

If you have further questions, please reply to this ticket. Thank you again for contacting us. We hope you continue to enjoy your experience in Diablo III and I hope this info I gave you helps you be able to make an informed decision!

   Warmest Regards,

Asking for further clarification on when this “snapshot” will be.

Also, I appreciate the offer Sleazoid. I think I’ll stick with the Wiz for now even if I get boned, since I still have my gear. I’ll just have to suck it up and try to earn my stuff back through grinding…

Does hardcore result in higher level loot at least?

Wow.

I’m kind of sad that Monks and Barbs seem to be forced into going into boring tank builds in Inferno. So far I have been doing okay with a dual-wield build with my Monk, but I’m going to be pretty frustrated if I’m going to be forced to put on a shield for the rest of Inferno. Hopefully Blizzard will make adjustments soon.

try wall and arcane…basically put me in a box, and surround me with lasers of doom. You would literally HAVE to grind the really easy levels, until its safe enough to emerge from your shell. I’m talking about finishing normal, already at level 60. Which would likely take months if not years. I shudder to think of the sad sad group that eventually will forsake sex forever, and take down inferno diablo hardcore.

Another thing that really, and I mean REALLY pisses me off about this game, is the lack of distance possible for distance characters.

In D2, it was possible to create quite a bit of space between your toon and the enemies.

Not so, in D3.

This is partially due to the toons being a bit bigger.

But it is primarily due to the angle of the isometrics in D3.

I find them to be absolutely horrid.

Ranged in D3 is not about getting distance, and keeping up a steady stream of DPS.

It is about blasting everything into oblivion before mobs close the 4 inch gap between your toon and the edge of the screen.

This is beyond dumb.

Diablo 3 is a bad game.

Blizzard-Activision makes games badly.

Period.

Last I heard, there was a European player who was level 58 in hardcore in Act I Hell. Pretty much you have to play super cautiously, farm a lot of easy content, and over level everything. Not sure how Inferno would go.

Most likely a luck game. I.E hope the elites/champions aren’t dumb combinations and buttfuck you.

I don’t think it’s a bad game, it’s just not Diablo 2. Seems to be the general consensus around these parts. Diablo 2 was on such a high pedestal. (and rightfully so, 11 year gap) But setting the bar extremely high will result in disappointment.

MvC3 is a text book example of this.

Last couple pages made me order a physical Blizzard authenticator to link to my account despite living in Canada and having to pay the extra shipping fees. Yeah, I could d/l the mobile app but I’ve had 3 ipod’s die since they were released. I have a feeling the keychain authenticator will live longer than another apple product.

As a Wizard, I can’t play solo. Pretty much…yeah.

Alternatively, TL2 feelt like I was watching my character from space. However, its probably because I’ve put my last 50 gaming hours into D3.

I’ve been soloing as a wiz so far. I’m almost to the end of act 1 inferno and have been keeping 5 stack on the neph buff. So far I’m running snowbound blizzard, venom hydra, with arcane orb as my damage. I never really skip the mobs too but the real tough ones I revive then spawn back and try to get back before they regen any health, but most of the uniques i can kite down. If it’s something like a unique leaper, then they seem to be much harder than anything else. If it’s something like a unique grotesque or goatmen, they just seem so much easier to kite, even if they have fast. I think it’s because of their slow base move speed and the fact their attack animation is slow that I can move out.

I find solo much easier than grouping for hell and up. I know thats the opposite story for many people, but I feel that my damage is much more significant by myself because the mobs get something like 115% per person. So it’s much easier to wear down uniques or burst down trash mobs.
