Now you have to decide between getting your stuff back but losing any gear you recently earned (and it’s likely none of that equipment is old), or losing your loot and keeping your gear.
I will be rushing (as DH, so it will actually be fast) through normal and nightmare for the speedrun achievements Wednesday evening. If you were thinking about rerolling as another class and want to get rushed to hell (I can probably do a few azmo runs too to get you closer to lv50), let me know. No charge, but I do appreciate goldly donations and/or assistance through Inferno. The whole run should take at most 8 hours, but I think it will be closer to 5-6.
I can’t say for certain. I can only repeat what I’ve read on the Blizzard forums; people have been saying that it is a 48 hour rollback from when the suspicious account activity occurred.
The current theory is that the hack takes control of an account by stealing the information sent through the Blizzard servers when an achievement is unlocked because that information does not go through an authorization process. Again, I can’t say this for certain, but that’s the current theory.
Unusual theory, but it’s not like you can really stop people from getting achievements.
If the theory is true then it’s also likely the hackers target people earning specific end-game achievements… like high tiers of the gold earned achievement or the inferno diablo achievement.
That’s a really strange hack and how it works. With how authenticators work, I’m not sure how they would be able to log on to your account. Authenticator codes are only valid for like 20 seconds before they expire. If the log in IP changes, it’s supposed to ask for another code. Strange how hackers are getting past authenticators…
On the topic of lol making Diablo III as Diablo II with pretty graphics, it’s already been done. I don’t know if you guys were aware, but most of the major members of the Diablo II team left Blizzard and made their own game company. They pretty much made a Diablo II clone that was something like an FPS RPG… that failed and made the company go bankrupt. Point being being that just remaking D2 with pretty graphics is kind of dumb.
I believe I’m over my initial blinding rage. I enjoy the game a little more now, but I still don’t think there is an excuse for this terrible story, and progressively shitty act progression. Act I, amazing, Act II, awesome, Act III, okay, Act IV, wtf is Act IV?
I have an authenticator attached to my account (I got hacked for an old, unushed WOW account from Burning Crusade days, and they added an authenticator onto it preventing me from playing SC2. So I got it removed and added my own authenticator to prevent it. Ugh).
But never once has D3 prompted me for an authenticator code. I don’t think it’s integrated into D3 yet, which really surprised me because I’d be more worried about people getting into my D3 account than my SC2 one, which happily prompts me all the time
Roommate has a phone authenticator and I’ve seen him get prompted.
This “unstoppable hack” thing is bullshit though. Also he started a hardcore character as his first thing while having never played these games before. I warned him that he’d be instant-wiped later since he doesn’t know what it is ahead, or killed because of some stupid lag spike, but he thinks he can handle it.
Haha, just logged in and got prompted for my authentication code for the first time in a long time. Maybe they cache the IP over from SC2 or something, but glad to know it’s actually in use.
I still dunno what people expect in the story. I go in with literally no expectations for plot and everything is about how much fun was it to kill monsters and collect items. Everything about the mood and variety is awesome in D1, D2, and D3.
I also really enjoyed Act 3 and Act 4, more so than act 2. In both normal and nightmare I found two of Act 2’s quests to be slow, much like maggot lair is one of those quests no one wants to do.
I expect 6 years worth of development to be better than an episode of Inuyasha. Also, when the main arc is compared to the side stories of each individual, it looks like Where the Wild Things Are vs Atlas Shrugged.
Probably felt slow because its longer than Act 3 and 4 combined.
Level 26 Wizard not bad for only starting on Friday and only playing for a bit . But im over 100% MF and have high EXP gain on all the items too which will help when I get the time to play a lot.
Seriously RL sux , I should have taken this week off work.
I have no major complaints yet about the game.
So is anyone else a bit disappointed with the final product? The whole game should have been more like act 1. It’s fun, no doubt, but a lot seems like a step backwards as far as design goes. The skill swapping has grown on me, even if a lot are completely useless. I also don’t get the point of the AH. It seems like using a cheat code when you can just buy whatever you want. All of the fun to me is finding stuff on my own, but to each their own
