yeah I just found out about elective mode myself. haven’t had time to turn it on just yet because I was making some smoked salmon, but it’s all done so I’m about to hop on and see what I can do.

Nothing is wrong with playing a sequel to a game because of fond memories of the original. If you want to know why Nintendo’s Mario series is so successful, its because it doesn’t change at all except for a fresh can of paint. Kids today enjoy Mario about as much as I did when I was a kid (okay, maybe some exaggeration but you get the point).
Blizzard had a money maker with Diablo 3. Any “idiot” could have made the game and it would have sold as well as it did on opening day. Does game sales make Diablo 3 a success? Depends on who you ask I guess. unfortunately, Blizz-Activision may view this as a success, but its like I said before… any “idiot” could have made D3 and it have it sell like hot cakes. The real question is: how well subsequent titles in the series fare based on what we were served this week? I’m no accountant, guru, or Azzure figure, but my initial impressions tell me that there’s a chink in Blizzard’s armor and it is being exposed. If they wanted continued success, they should have keyed into what made Diablo 2 KING of ARPGs instead of trying to re-invent the wheel.
With the amount of time spent making the game, they could have re-made Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 with updated graphics/visuals and inserted it into Diablo 3 to REMIND people why it is the KING.
With brands such as Torchlight, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile on the horizon, I hope the pluses and negatives of Diablo 3 are taken into consideration and implemented. There’s now room for other games in the genre now that the big elephant in the room is withering…
Finally have time to post in here again…aka at work.
Hit 60 last night, cleared Act I Inferno. Wizard is a lot of fun, but even with mostly survivability (I’m running Diamond Skin and Force Armor constantly) you’ll still get shit on. Nature of the game. Current skill setup is:
Disintegrate is reliant on party play, if you’re solo, Arcane Orb is probably better. Shock Pulse Orbs are too good for a primary attack, they hit everything in their path.
Force Weapon boosts up your DPS. The rest is all survivability.
I believe I’m currently at ~30k life and ~17k DPS.
Blacksmith is level 10, I’m looking around for plans. I just got a plan off the AH for rare 60 shoulders with +4 properties for only 50k. Crafting one of those costs more than 50k -_-. Need to keep looking for those and grab some legendary ones if they ever get put up for something reasonable, not 99999999999999999999.
Speaking of reasonable, when I sell my stuff on the AH, I set my items at reasonable prices, and they go like candy. Meh rares that might still be upgrades go for anywhere from 30-80k. Really good 1h weapons have gone for 120k, I probably should’ve priced it higher than that, but it was a blue. Maybe people are just relisting them, but the average prices for items are just bullshit right now.

Also…monks. They may seem broken, but if they get nerfed, I’m not sure playing on Hell/Inferno will be truly plausible without full troll hit and run builds. The mantra spam seems kind of broken, but there are also enemies that just shut monks down hard. Shit doesn’t matter when they can’t do a damn thing to generate their spirit. (Arcane Molten Vortex Invulnerable huehuehuehuehuehuehuehuehuehue)
Edit - D2 bosses we definitely harder…especially solo. Andariel/Duriel didn’t let you just sit there and DPS, they poisoned you/slapped you for half your life.

Do people really think that Diablo III would’ve been THE BEST GAME ever if they just literally took D2 and updated it with a new graphics engine? Hahaha. People these days. Nigga they’ve had, what? 11 years worth of research done with Diablo 2? God forbid they took all the experience and knowledge and used it to make something amazing. Similarly to what happened with MvC3: they had players that would’ve helped for free just for a shot at working on MvC3. What did they do instead? TACs and X-factor.
Yeah, there’s a handful of items on the AH that are reasonably priced. But still…most of that shit makes no sense. I swear one person was trolling the AH with a 3 million gold buyout for some bullshit rare item and everyone else just followed suit. And I don’t even see the point in having no buyout on some low-mid level blues/yellows. Who’s going to sit there for 2 days and bid on an item you’ll outlevel in 2 hours? 0_o
I need to stop trash talking the game. It has it’s flaws, but I think Blizzard knows what they are doing (and the game is actually good). If I stop and take a step back, Blizzard’s line up isn’t all to bad.

For the AH, I set my Search for max buyout price of like 600 gold. And I find tons of good shit for that price. Don’t have to spend much to raise that DPS.
Wizard is awesome. I LOVE how I approached this game like D2, going “I’m planning a Melee Wizard,” and now that I’ve tried it, I’m okay with a more mixed ranged/close range hybrid, with the ability to switch as I get new runes/skills on the fly. Awesome awesome awesome.
Loving Wizard. Will try another class sometime, but likely not soon.

Yeah, it seems to be the norm. Early in the morning when less people are playing my ping drops down to to a steady 80 ms.
I love Spectral Blades as a Wizard, but at the higher difficulties I’m scared shitless to get close to any mob, so I can’t have fun with it. I did go back to Normal and use Spectral Blades to get that achievement to kill all the early bosses.
No. There is simply a single dungeon in its place.
I get that on the Americas server. I get around 100 on the Europe server. I live in North Carolina.
