Official Diablo 4 Thread : Hype train departing

whats with rare items not dropping as much in nightmare? Bosses no longer drop them, and I seem to only seldomly get them from mobs

you watching the same stream im watching?

you only get a guaranteed rare the first time you fight a boss

after that, you need to hit 60 and get the nephalem valor buff to be getting rares from bosses

ooooooh…I was just wondering, cuz i thought it would reset each difficulty. So I could get rares from nightmare skeleton king, but only the first time, like in normal. OK, that makes a little sense

edit:

protip: I’ve NEVEr used a healing potion as a monk. Maybe early in the game, just to try it out. I just naturally heal, either by punching shit or healing with my abilities that heal. I die, dont get me wrong. But i sell every potion i get :stuck_out_tongue:

sadly, I die a lot as other classes, because I fucking forget how to heal.

I wish there was a lackey/sidekick feature in the game. If I take a night off, the next day all my buddies are like 5-10 levels above me and then it’s hard for me to team with them cuz I get killed easily.

Anyone else feel this way?

After like 3 days, Diablo III is FINALLY installing. Good shit Blizzard for being ready for the launch –

Since I’ve been partying with people as a Wiz, I just go full glass cannon even on hell, but solo I seem to do well with my defensive spells. There’s less need for dps when you solo because it’s much easier to burst enemies down. It actually works fine, going full glass cannon but some of the uniques just have some crazy affixes that just melt everyone even the tank, though we got by some of them by going around reviving while the others kite.

Mages actually have decent survivability if you want to skill yourself that way. I did something similar to sleepyzero mentioned except geared myself for crit heals with spectral and energy shield and got through hell leoric. You can just pop diamond skin and try to heal yourself up with your blades. I need to level some more to get the rune that doesn’t allow over 35% damage though.

One of the thing that sucks about this game is the difficulty is all depending on what items you have once you reach hell. Certain places in Inferno can be super easy as long as you have good gear. The problem is gear is random. So just cause someone is getting farther than you doesn’t even mean they are better than you, just means they got better loot which allowed them to advance easier.

Like your 60 you make it past Inferno Act 1 and then realize you can’t beat act 2 just simply because your gear isn’t up to snuff. Better head back to Act 1 or Hell Act 4 and farm until you get better items and then you reach Act 3 and you rinse and repeat. Kinda is lame. The level restriction is why this exists too. IF you could continue to level to 99 you wouldn’t get stuck by having a lack of solid gear. You could just keep leveling to make up for it. Not the case in this game.

Not sure why they made the level cap 60. Hopefully they plan to up it in updates/expansions.

I was trying this interesting Wizard build out, different than how I was playing it. Basically you skill yourself so you never run out of mana.

The skill calculator is bugged, because Frost Ray reduces to 12 mana and not 0 mana

However, with storm armor on, you can channel your beams for a long time, and with Diamond Skin popped you can maintain Disintegrate for a long time, and you can actually regenerate mana with Ice Beam. Basically you just drop a blizzard to damage/slow, then beam enemies until they close the distance. Then you pop diamond skin, continue to damage them with your lower cost beams, and then double teleport away to buld up distance/reset cooldowns and survive. Definitely less survivability than my frost nova/disintegrate/hydra build, but in nightmare having teleport is a godsend because otherwise you get corner trapped all the time from the wallers

if they’re aheead of you, they should just run back and rush you up to where they are. Such is the way of Diablo.

You have ANY idea how many times I’ve had to do Act 2 or 3? On normal, and nightmare so far? It’s oustanding.

fucking Auction House is all fucked up, and you cant buy or bid on things. Which sucks, cuz I have a good auction wrappign up, and somebody will snag it for only 200 gold :frowning:

I have 79% magic find. Let’s do this.

Oh wow, dat AV.

So, I dropped the Storm Shield in favor of Magic Weapon with the run that has a chance on hit to restore 1 mana… and now I can blast into crowds and lose no mana on disintegrate : ) Also gave up Blizzard for Ice Shield since I didn’t have to run storm shield, enjoying the survivability more

After much deliberation I have come to a single, and extremely resounding conclusion.

This game sucks, and I’m upset that Blizzard has 60 of my dollars.

I can’t bring myself to finish nightmare. I want to see Inferno since it has all of this mad Blizzard hype surrounding it, but I don’t give a fuck anymore. This is not up to the quality of Diablo 2. This is a step backwards in everything except graphics.

This game is not hard. It is artificially hard. Adding extra damage to mobs, and more health does not increase difficulty. It increases frustration.

The story telling, the story, characters, monsters, mob sizes, mob threat, drops, dungeons, maps, lore, voice acting, and crafting system is completely ridiculous and should be shunned by gamers. This is an insult to their fans, and there is no reason that this horrible excuse for a Blizzard game shouldn’t undergo the same outrage that Mass Effect 3 has.

At every possible turn this game caters to the casual crowd, the Call of Duty kids. The disposable gamers who don’t give clue to begin with, so as soon as someone says “this game is good” they all nearly spit out their natty lite, and collectively high five each other before chest bumping each time they think they’ve achieved something because a boss dies in a few seconds. Fuck this.

I’d rather be treated like shit than treated like an ignorant child, Blizzard. I tried to like this. I really really did.

And before anybody starts talking about how TL2 is going to be better, it wont be. TL2 has its own problems.

Nothing will ever be as good as Diablo 2, which is my single favorite PC game of all time.

I’ve had my fill.

People who hate this game sound like people who hated MVC3 coming from MVC2.

Same deal with the Capcom fans – if this game isn’t as good to you as Diablo 2, go ahead and play Diablo 2 instead.

Thats a pretty dope build.

Beat the story/normal mode. Is one of the writers at Blizzard an anon? One of Diablo’s lines was I am Legion. Seriously, I was expecting him to follow that up with an I do not forgive, I do not forget.

Another thing, if we’re allowed to respec skills whenever we wanted then we should have been given the option to re-assign stat points at will. Certain stat combinations may be more suitable for certain builds. Afraid of players fucking up the stats? Include a reset to default button.

We beat nightmare yestereday and for a laugh got all the stuff to go to whimsyshire… it’s pretty funny. After that I read up on how to do the nightmare version and we did that. We got a legendary, was totally worth the 350K it cost in total to get the nightmare version lol.

diablo 2 was a lot of “more damage and health” too and it wasnt hard either…?

i dont get where all the hate is coming from

something cool about the demon hunter’s smoke screen skill is that you are invincible (i’ve stood in traps, fire, enemy attacks while ss’d and came out untouched). i think its possible to do a build where you can be in smoke screen indefinitely 90-100% of the time provided you have something to shoot. it involves stacking crit, rapid fire, and the “crits sometimes give you 1 discipline” passive. would be pretty cool if it worked, since it would be literally untouchable. too bad i cant test it yet since im short a bunch of levels and gear :\
