Official Diablo 4 Thread : Hype train departing

Got the rest of the day off.

And beers cooling in the fridge, with a go to bottle icing in the freezer.

If I get drunk enough, I might be arsed to play.

Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt using SRK Technology.

Do it. Normal and Nightmare are essentially extended tutorials. I made it to SK on NM and he was actually pretty tough. He nearly 1 shot me, and he slapped my dogs shit pretty hard. I enjoyed the fight.

This talk of D3’s skill system being terrible is noise. Yes, let’s go back to D2’s. Where you either put a single point into a skill and let +Skills do the rest, or you max it. Let’s go back to skills that were completely useless (post-nerf Jab). Let’s all put only just enough points into STR and DEX to wear gear (factoring in charms), the rest in VIT, and no Energy. AWESOME!

Seriously, about the only downside to the way D3 does it is that people with the absolute wrong idea about gaming in general (YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT BY CLICKING!) are angry, and that’s not even a downside. Automatic learning of skills and runes? Easily swap skills and runes in and out? Tons of customization but ZERO need to either reroll or jump through hoops for a respec? Outright dismissal of the “dumb down” argument that was never valid to begin with? YES PLEASE.

I remember the hatestorm I created when I first heard of no stat/skill points.
And once I took off the nostalgia goggles, I realized that they WERE useless, because everyone did the exact same thing over and over.
So in reality, people miss clicking 300 points into vitality?

Not only do they miss it, they are the only thing keeping Torchlight 2 on the radar!

But seriously. TL2 is gonna be fun as heck.

Yes it’s bad… Kind of like one button combos in fighting games.

Damn right it is. Between TL-2 and D3, my Summer is shaping up quite nicely. Everyone has a good chance of getting a TL-2 key this weekend since they are doing a stress test.

i am getting raped in hell. WTB a good monk or barb tank…ffs…

Diablo 2: Plan everything ahead at the start. You have to know before level 1 what you want to do. Essentially screwed if you waste points on the wrong skill/stat.

Diablo 3: Instead of planning ahead at the start, you have the capability of changing play styles by hot swapping skills. If you join a party or enter a specific area, you can optimize your skill set for max damage without sacrificing survivability. You can even change your gear if it makes sense.

Yesterday I had a friend join me. He saw I was a ranged witch doctor with some support spells so he switched it up to melee wizard (normal difficulty). It worked out perfectly. Normally he plays with a monk and uses ranged spells while the monk gets up close and personal.

I don’t care for the art style TL2 has, but eh. Some of it looks IDENTICAL to D3.

It’s nothing like that. Not even remotely.

I like the versatility of the new skill system.

For example, yesterday I was having problems with mobs with my witch doctor using the slowdart. So I switched to the aoe firebomb. Whenever I expect a strong single target, I can just stick to the slowdart.

Also, I like how the skills get additional effects from the weapons/armors. I have some on-hit stuff like 1.6% chance to fear, etc. and it’s cool having those effects transfer to the skills. In addition, spells get crit hits, had a dog explosion hit 2k in nightmare yesterday.

So good news for all you Wizards out there. Inferno right now Wizard seems to be fairing the best. There is an OP combo that allows the Wizard to tank basically and almost never die depending on the opponent. For Example Wizard can solo Bailel on Inferno with this combo.

What it is is Energy Armor + Force Armor Rune which increases defense by 60% and reduces all damage that would be dealt to your character over 35% to 35%. Then Diamond Skin + Crystal Shell Rune which gives you 21000+ damage absorption. These two combined make it incredibly hard to kill the Wizard. That is of course PLUS all of your armor, resistance, and other stuff. Right now this is what people are running for Wizards in Inferno so keep it in mind if you plan on playing the Wiz.

I wish there was something in game where I could save builds, but that’s just because I’m lazy and sometimes I forget. :frowning:

That would be cool.

Monks do fine against non-uniques in inferno. Spirit gen combo + heal of mantra gives me a 18k shield + 8k heal with no cooldown. I literally just tanked inferno belial and never even dodged his attacks except when he puts down all the pits.

Imo all the bosses in this game are way easy even on inferno. Champions are also really easy, except certain combo’s with invulnerable minion but even than a monk can stun lock them in the corner with kick x infinity. Only thing hard is uniques … fuck uniques … some are fucking unsoloable … seriously …

The problem isn’t really the skill trees; its the fact that you had to roll a whole new character if you messed up. The ability to respec solves that issue. What the new system does not offer the players is that feeling of actually building stuff that going down a skill tree gives you. For better or worse the emotional satisfaction that it brought to many players is what is missing when people complain about the new system.

Its whatever though, niggas in the place have a hard time understanding that people engage things emotionally significantly more than they do so logically. Wanting to address something that is an emotional concern with logical is like hiring an electrician to work on your plumbing.

Secretly I love moving stats around for weapons. I, on the other hand, am completely terrified of messing up in this games because then what you get is a really crappy character.

Picked it up without having played D1 or D2 and I’m digging it. Currently just a fledgling level 15 monk. Get at me: Smalls90#1740

What the fuck? You guys are already on Inferno? And its easy?

not necessarily. Sometimes you have to fight uniques but depending on the random set of elite skills they have some of them are mother fucking impossible. There really isn’t an in between in this game. Champion fights can be “hard” though so I enjoy them unlike cheap ass uniques. Like fire chains x shield x vampiric is nightmarish. Sometimes I literally aggro uniques and run them to a part of the map I know I don’t have to go and purposely die just so I don’t have to fight them.

Think if you’re a ranged though you can probably handle uniques better than melee. I don’t understand how a melee is supposed to beat fire chains without stacking a shit ton of fire resist. There’s no way to avoid it without kiting them which as a melee is a really arduous and annoying process. And if they have vortex you can’t kite them so …

Once you hit hell you’ll have a bit of a problem but it’s just because you need to rearrange your skills as the same tired level 20 crap you’ve been spamming through 20-50 stops working. After you get a hell quality weapon and mess with your skills it’s pretty easy as a monk. Honestly since act II of hell I haven’t died to anything but uniques with firechain : /
