Official Diablo 4 Thread : Hype train departing

You guys are kind of getting mad over nothing in regards to the enrage mechanic. What’s the point of Inferno difficulty if you can just cheese everything (everything to death with Demon Hunters as an example)? Do you have any better solutions?

Yeah. I said just give the bosses extra shit. Don’t make me try to steamroll it within x amount of time. Thats not fun.

Or do it Monster Hunter style, were bosses get all mad n shit.

I am looking at enrage timers from a Dante Must Die DT timer perspective

Their purpose is so you don’t just safely kite everything to death. You could, but once DT kicks in you’re looking to spend much much longer fighting that enemy than you would had you simply gone in and fought them in a riskier normal way.

You could still steadily make progress by kiting stuff to death with DT around, it would just take much longer than it normally would. It would probably be more feasible/efficient to go back and farm an area until your gear is good enough so that playing aggressive becomes the optimal option again.

I think that’s what their aiming for. They don’t want a safe and boring style of play to be the only or best way to get through Inferno, they want going back and grinding better gear to look like the more attractive route to success.

That makes much more sense, and is totally practical. I guess its more like “this is how long it should realistically take you to kill this boss, and if you’re too busy trying to cheese it, you will be punished”. Sound about right?

Okay. I’m good at listening :). I’m really excited to play with many of you. I’ve always loved Diablo but as has been explained to me, the Diablo I played (goofing around through normal to see the story and mess around with different classes) is not the Diablo many of you played (min / maxing scrutinizing builds, shooting for the hardest difficulty). So I know I’ve got catching up to do but I’m excited to get yelled at for being an idiot who doesn’t know how to play in 8 days. I’ll have that install button ready Thursday at midnight

This is what I just said… :wonder:

^ Seriously, I think I just read the same thing 5 times over now.

I think I’m going to take the 15th off work. Does anybody know if we get access at midnight? I would assume so since there are midnight releases all over the place.

Preordered mine on amazon, I’ll get it when the mailman comes on the 15th around 1PM:tup:

Googles enrage timers, DPS, kiting, and cheesing…Okay so enrage timers are basically a way of preventing zoning right? Well for a game that preaches about character customization it’s piss poor and hypocritical game design to punish a player who doesn’t go for the standard DPS oriented build. I love the idea of enrage timers on everything assuming the boost enemies get is minimal like maybe a %20 increase in life and/or damage output because that ups the intensity but anything beyond that is simply punishing healer/tank oriented builds and that is contradictory to everything D3 says it stands for.

Having only played D1 and 2 at my friends house for a few hours almost 8 years ago, I don’t have much knowledge of Diablo, but from what everyone is saying I’m worried it might be too complicated. Of course I want an optimal build but I was under the impression that in D3 I could have one without getting all complicated about it and just letting it happen as I progress though the game. This talk of +skill items, DPS, and everything else shouldn’t factor into a game that’s supposed to be simple mindless fun geez.

Bought mine through bnet. Already downloaded and ready to go.

And I don’t think you have to worry about it being complicated. Blizzard has a way of easing you into these things. I’d day D3 end game will be a lot of looking out for x move, killing x adds, and the floor is lava. Its not a very complicated game to begin with but who knows?

Oh God, I just remembered how stupid I used to be. Back in the early years of high school I had a black beanie with green embroidery on the side that said “shako”, and a pin with a yellow diamond on it.

I wore it.

A lot.

Here is Jay Wilson talking about Inferno.

You invested no more time than you would have anyway playing the game. The only difference is you get real money out of the situation instead of in game gold from the AH.
If by time you mean the amount of time I’ll be counting my money, then yes… you sir are correct!

Real money AH.

it’s an issue tho. pretend you find 100 bucks on the street and I come around and take 30 away and tell you “shut up you still got 70 for free”. justified?

I’m okay with 15% as their share, but I do NOT understand why they get it twice. the 1$ fee is meh as well, but I do understand their reasoning behind it. I’m not sure how I’d solve the flooding issue otherwise, but at least they have said that you gain an unknown number of “free” slots every now and then. will prolly be 10 slots per week or month or something. tho, they could have made it kinda like ebay, where you pay a fix price to list the item depending on the price you want.

ah yeah to the 1$ fee +15% of selling value +15% of shipping out + pay pal fee, there also comes the price a text message, since they’ll send you regularly a safety check message that YOU have to pay.

even worse if you live in Europe… in general we have to pay majorly more, because the general conversion is 1$ = 1€. I paid 60€ in the blizz store for the game (roughly 80(!)$). for XBLIVE and PSN it’s the same. a game that costs you 15$ costs 15€ in europe >> [thank god for an us account, yay].
it’s even worse in england tho, as there it’s 1$=1GBP. they have to pay 60 GBP I assume which translate to 75€ and almost 100$. edit: it’s 45 GBP. so it’s cheaper then for the rest of europe >
>

I hope in the future those companies will be forced to use a fair price globally for digital distributed items by some trade law, at least for europe <> usa. sadly, that is overlooked gladly as it means more cash for the companies AND countries… =/

the best thing are people who say “if there wouldn’t be a RMAH and their share, they would need to take monthly fees like WoW, so be glad!”. that’s so stupid that I don’t simply want to facepalm, but to palm their face. hard.

edit:
for equipment it’s 1$ + 15% transfer.
for commodities it’s 15% endprice + 15% transfer.
+Paypal fees
+SMS fees

but you explained it in wow terms so nobody understood it Kappa

Are you guys sure its not 15% total, instead of 15% from Blizz, and THEN 15% from paypal? Where does Paypal even come into the equation?

Just read it and you can hate on paypal for all of that ish. Paypal continually bends me over on every sale I make so this isnt surprising.

I related it to Diablo III just fine. People just can’t read. Kappa

well how much is the percentage usually for paypal fees? i sell stuff on ebay but i never pay attention, but i think ebay owns paypal now, so ebay charges you when u sell something then paypal charges you a paypal fee…so its like they double dipping. wouldnt be surprised if d3 is the same way.

Paypal is under 5% I believe.

heeees baaaaaaaack!

Not sure why people are upset about the large AH fee. Were people seriously considering quitting their jobs and just being AH monsters all day? It’s fairly obvious that the real money AH is just a perk and a way to control illegal use of selling in game items. Anyone going into this and expecting to make any kind of decent money from D3 is kind of out of their mind.
