Closest thing to offline in D3 is starting a game to play by yourself and not allowing anyone to join it. You still have to be connected to the Bnet servers in order to do that however. However you can pause the game if you’re in a private game in case you need to go afk.
Might be pushing it. It may run, but it may not run well.
Surprised you didn’t mention DFO. For example, when Cinder enrages he reflects all damage back to you. I know this isn’t a great example. I wanted to mention how 70 OV has a lot of do x y z in specific order in a specific time frame with exact timing or everyone dies in your party but very few people on SRK are actually up to 70 OV and I’m still planning to carry people through King Primal to get them to 70 OV. I can rush you too if you want.
I think Blizzard is trying to encourage people to gear properly and work together as a team instead of everyone just laming out a boss.
I read that the max you can sell for is only $250, which is a huge turn off. The limit on how many items you can have up is annoying as well.
I also didn’t really give the game a try yet. With Diablo 2, I usually played 3 characters at the same time. 200 cast light sorc tele Baal merc infinity, perfect cry Barb, and perfect hammerdin. In throne, position hammerdin and shift hammer. Other hand is prewave cry to stun and then switch to light sorc to kill while hammers also instantly take out. Teleport with barb and sorc on Baal and WW and lightning to death. All 3 characters panni/ptorch/skill gc maxed. Sometimes partied with CS Zon to save a couple seconds on Baal.
I will probably make a private guild for D3.
Is there any kind of formal guild or clan system in D3?
The game calls home for single play, so yes. You need an active internet connection to play single player without a hack. There is no LAN for multiplay either.
I didn’t read anything concrete about it yet but I heard a while ago they were going to implement something.
Two things I left out which completely killed annoyed me in D2. Getting connection interrupted for playing too fast (skill cycling anti-bot detection) and having characters expire after a couple months. I hope that won’t carry over to D3. Was especially annoying because with bots you could set timers and attack patterns and timeout/cooldown between games to never get “realm down” or expand farming from Baal to +Diablo +Nili or other places of interest like 85+ areas.
Since we can’t created games with certain names, and search for them in a lobby, I doubt it will be a problem.
I looked at the recommended requirements and they’re Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz with the same video card I have
As someone who currently plays WoW and has BEATEN PVE (meaning cleared all current tier PvE content on the hardest difficulty), allow me to shed some light on the enrage timer thing.
Blue bringing up that it’s more about a “strat check” than a “gear check” is more or less true. Back in Vanilla WoW, most raid bosses did not have hard enrage timers that would wipe your raid if you failed to kill them under a certain amount of time. There were even bosses that lasted up to twenty minutes on average and could last even longer if some DPS were dead. Hell, even the current end boss on hard mode has a fifteen minute enrage timer (and that fight can be pretty draining on your mental stamina, especially when you’re wiping in the last phase and have to spend another 10+ minutes to get there). Typically the way the bosses are tuned is so that you should be able to kill all the bosses in the minimum amount of gear required if you’re an elite player (and I mean top world 100 guild). To put it in Diablo’s terms, you should be able to kill a boss of that difficulty in blues to get rares, and kill a boss in rares to get uniques. That’s putting it pretty simply.
For example, the world first normal mode clears of the first tier of Catalcysm (newest expansion in WoW) were done by guilds that had more or less just hit max level and jumped straight into raiding, clearing bosses in green quality (or magical quality as a straight comparison to Diablo). Those were the elite guilds. Your average good guild should have been able to clear the first tier of content in blue (rare equivalent in Diablo) gear.
Point being that player skill will overcome gear. Gear will definitely make the fight easier, but it’s more about player skill and strategy more than anything. If there were no enrage timers in WoW, it would make DPS’s job hold much less weight. Group composition is very important too.
While I think enrage timers in Diablo are kind of weird and foreign, at the same time I can see where Blizzard is coming from. They want Inferno to be about strategy, not cheesing the entire mode by making a group of four Demon Hunters and kiting everything to death.
Wow… for the RL Auction house its 15% for Blizzard + 1 Dollar for equipment + 15% to transfer it to Paypal + whatever Paypal fees… thats fucking ridiculous. Over 30% of your profit gone is so terrible.
oh man, please dont remind me of the horrors of when i played WoW. if none of my guildies were on I always PuGed ICC or Trial of the crusader. my god people were so bad, fucking enrage timer would go off and shit. raid wipe! im glad those days are behind me, I hope people arent as bad in d3…but there are baddies in every game, so…
As a general rule, the recommended settings are usually what they recommend to run “well enough”. Either way, if you look into upgrading it should be pretty cheap.
I for one welcome rage timers and anything else that makes Diablo more than “right click to win”.
Frost Orb was the only skill in D2 as far as I’m concerned.
ohhhh yeeaaah, gonna be some really terrible players out there. Thats for damn sure.
Hey… some us may be terrible but we’re still going to try our best!
Enrage is a fucking retarded mechanic.
Will still play, even in my sleep.
That is all.
Cursing is my religion. And Jesus fucking Christ, religion has continuity issues.

Its either 15% or 1$ dollar for the sold item. 1$ is flat fee for items (Helm, shield, etc…), 15% is for stackable items.
The 15% transfer fee to paypal sucks, but im sure they (blizz/pp) negotiated that deal because Blizz isn’t going to reinvent the wheel… at the end of the day worst case is 33-35% fee rape, but if you think about it what did you invest to make free money?? On D3 forums I have seen so many whiny ass kids complaining about the fee rape, but has no one heard of iTunes?
This shit isn’t new but people just like to complain when it starts to affect them. It cost more money and manpower to make a secure transaction than people think, not to mention you have auditors out the ass all the time making sure you are in compliance. They can have my 30% while I sit worry free.
Time.
You invested time.
Further, every item sold is an investment in Bliz’s cred as a profitable company.

hey im all for that, i dont consider those kind of people bad, its the people that dont LISTEN and try to improve that are bad. raid leader could be like “hey, dont stand in that fire, move out of it asap, and make sure u burst down those monkeys when they spawn on people” , what does a bad player do? the motherfucking opposite, lol!!!
Agreed. Doesn’t have much of a place in DIablo IMO.
Still intend to try to get through Inferno though.
I like the idea behind them, but I don’t like the way they are implemented. Just seems weird to have x amount of time before shit hits the fan. Why not just… add those things to the boss already? I don’t see the point in a timer.
