About $1000. like the portability of a laptop though. I do plan on getting a solid desktop in the near future, that’s why I’m trying not to spend too much right now.
To be honest, you are going to need to spend 1500 on a “gaming” laptop for it to be worth a damn. Even then its going to be a dinosaur in a year or two.
True. That’s why I’m just trying to find the right video card to max D3 on max settings on a 1080p monitor without spending too much. I just want something that I can bring over to my friends when we play.
TBH, $1000 is probably enough to play D3 on max settings in 1080p.
You kids and your 1080p.
But for real, build yourself (or buy) a compact desktop. Silverstone makes some outrageously slick compact desktop chassis that take up absolutely no space. You could spend that 1k and get a great machine perfect to LAN.
D3 isn’t going to be demanding enough even for that lol.
Get Yourself a GTX 560 or ATI 6950 and just some sort tri / quadcore AMD setup based on parts from newegg and you should spend < $700.
Jay Wilson gives some tips, but they are rather obvious. There’s footage of inferno though and if you look at the health bars it seems like them having shitloads of hp is very true, since the monk was doing multiple hits and stuff and wasn’t taking huge chunks off.
I would definitely take slow time for Wizard. In d2 slow missile was a great one point wonder in helping dodge projectiles and I remember from my time playing Titan’s Quest that on higher difficulties, enemy archers just take chunks out of you, so having something to help against them was very good.
First one, looks easy to pick up though.
I guess there’s also a huge thread on enrage timers.
I think it’s interesting that it’s brought up as a “strategy check” instead of just a “gear check”. I’m not a hardcore WOW player or anything, but since you are rather less mobile and had to rely on just skill rotations and gear to get by, then the point of the enrage timer is just to make sure your gear is up to par.
But since Diablo is way more action oriented, I was thinking that you don’t need to eat hits like WOW. They say the enrage is to prevent cheesing. I play a decent amount of DMC and I was thinking it was like Devil Trigger on the enemies on DMD mode. If you try to cheese the enemy by doing weak stuff like trying to rapid fire pistols instead of getting in there, then they DT and get much harder. But the difference from my understanding from what I hear about WOW, is that once enrage timer kicks in, the boss becomes impossible and starts one shotting people. In DMD mode, once DT kicks in, it gets harder but you can still do it if you are skilled enough. I really hope Inferno rage timers are more like DT than a WOW raid.
I’m also worried about another point about enrage on inferno in that running past normal enemies. If you just speed run an area and mobs are chasing you, then say you run into a dead end, you might have to deal with a shitload of enraged mobs at once.
I’m just bored, so you guys can pitch in some thoughts, since I never really played WOW or spent my time in traditional MMO end game raids.
As in the badass lil’ card Sager is packing into their M11X killer np6110:

I was never a hardcore raider in WoW, but enrage timers basically worked as you described. Unlike the DT thing you described in DMC, enrage timers in WoW merely acted as a clock that gave you a certain amount of time to kill the boss. Once the boss enrages you’re pretty much screwed and everyone starts getting one shot. Unless the boss is at 1 or 2% their practically impossible to kill. Enrage timers seem to be intended as a gear check for dps, otherwise dps could easily get carried by tanks and healers.
I can’t believe this is finally coming out. Would an old gtx 260 and core 2 quad cpu @ 2.50ghz be able to run this at all?
I am not a fan of this MMO aspect of the game.
I’m really hoping it’s more like devil trigger on Dante Must Die, where the aggression and skills will be amped up. Since the example given in the thread, sounds like it’s something better than just getting one shotted, I’m remaining hopeful. Since this isn’t like a normal MMO, you don’t need to eat hits, so I hope you can just overcome it with skill even after enrage. Like in the first part you might want to play faster, but after you see him enraging, you decide you have to change it up and try to play smarter and safer.
Do you STILL have to be ONLINE to play the game OFFLINE?!
You have to be online to play the game online.
There is no offline.
So it’s 100% an MMO?
This is news to me, I havn’t checked into DIII since Nov/Dec 2011.
Looks like I’ll be getting two summer jobs.
Yes, it’s an MMO just like Starcraft 2.
Not heavily into vidya so if that’s sarcasm, I don’t know a thing about SC2 either.
He means its not an MMO. You create a game and play. You don’t have to play with others.
