Yet another av ruined. Your Valentine currently cannot shimapan.
I’ve seen those little level things on forums before but I was never a member of those forums. If you hover over the star is says “Level 1”, so maybe it’s like those other systems where it goes up based on how long you’ve been around and how many posts you make and likes you receive?
Climhazzardous is listed as admin and I don’t recall NickRocks being one also. Also saw a user called tick_tock listed as admin and those are just ones I saw.
I don’t how how much this has been harped on about if at all but for me it’s very difficult to sort between all the posts in any one thread. Like I can’t tell right off the bat that this section belongs to this user and this is where the following user’s section begins, and so forth. I see it as a lack of contrast at the border plus the avatar size being so small. Of course my monitor is at the highest brightness (fuck yo couch, darkness) so this may just be me entirely.
Hoping it’s something a theme option can rectify. On the other hand I’m feeling the simplicity, just got to find the damn manual.
Yeah, that looks like a good solution. Thanks for the heads up.
In other news I did not receive any notification that my post was quoted, I checked in on this thread of my own volition. Do I have to tweak some settings to get notified when I’m quoted, etc.?
That’s being worked on. The problem with Vanilla Forums is that the initial user set is very… vanilla. It’s bare, but that makes it FAST.
Being notified of replies isn’t a default feature (oddly enough), but it’s something the admins know about and is being added very, very soon. For now, you can just put an @ symbol in front of the user’s name when you quote them (as I did with this post) and people will get notified.
Well, makes sense to me. Thanks for laying it down; guess we just have to make do. Still glad to have SRK forums back regardless considering I was stuck at home during the blizzard and there was nothing on TV besides Major League Pro Fishing.
Sorry, that’s just the way it is. That’s like that on every forum that I’ve used my mobile browser on except for anything powered by Invision. I don’t know if it’s because of some kind of script for handling putting quotes into the text area field or what, but I suspect that’s the case.
Yes, a new phone would be wonderful, before you say so, but unless you’re going to pay for that phone for me, I have to conclude that in my case, Tapatalk is far better than the browser version here. I do appreciate this software having a mobile version though, vs. the last one.
To further my thoughts, I just think Tapatalk is better streamlined for my tastes. But there we go, that one will come down to taste. I browse multiple forums with the app, so I like the uniformity in forum viewing from my phone.
I got tired of answering the same questions over and over, so I just made a FAQ thread about the new software. If you have a question, it might be in here. If it’s not, ask me and I’ll look into it.
Actually I just found realized something about the new forum. If you change your av, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that it actually works on the first try without using that stupid gravatar shit. So kudos for that one. That was always a pain in the ass.
All new problems I have are likely to be resolved in the near future:
-Post formatting is atrocious and cheap/generic-looking. Universal font doesn’t help much, either
-The only background reduces the length of my visits because I have to douse my eyes in darkness after five minutes before they melt out of my head
-Notation emotes are gone, so now a lot of my posts look like goobledegook and are garbage to read
-Tiny avatars would be fine if they didn’t leave so much ugly unused space
Negatives aside, the forum should suffer less if any downtime now, right? I hope so since that was the only real issue besides the new adverts.
Something went terribly wrong with some of the forum sub sections. Things like Juggernaut appearing as a character sub forum under Sf x Tekken. Clicking on Dudley under the SFxT character discussions seems to direct you to the Third Strike Dudley forum.
