Grimmjow (and Ulquiorra) is assumed to be in it from a 2ch post but also the same thread say it may be Kariya. With Ririn being in the game the chance of that happening isn’t too far off. The sihoulette looks like it could be either of them.
As for gameplay changes they made alot of changes, I haven’t did any real research on it (I’m just getting back into the games myself nowadays) but this is what I heard:
air throws added
Throws in general are done with two buttons instead of holding forward + attack
The touchscreen can be used to do specific strengths of attacks of instead of always using the strongest version
there is now cooldown time on touchscreen use so you can’t just mash randomly on it to do moves rapidly.
Character changes, there are quite a few last time I checked and even more now, i.e. Uryu can only fire set of arrows at a time. Ichigo’s pillar super was changed, it now splits into two and goes across the screen alittle. His Reinforced Dwn, Dwn+Atk acts more like a tone version of his original pillar super. Kenpachi has a kick attack now for one of his basic attacks, Yachiru’s killer 1frame kick is replaced with some slower girly slap now making her less of a threat now.
There’s a lot of general gameplay and specific character changes from the original, when I find a good source I’ll post it up if no one else has before I find it.
It’s not worth getting the first game imo with the sequel being only a few days away, the gameplay seems to be going only up so there won’t be any need to play the old version unless you wanted to character changes first-hand or something.
And if you plan on playing this on wifi you won’t have any competition since everyone will be moving to the sequel.
Yeah, I’ve got no interest in seeing the changes made – I just want whichever versions of the game are worth owning… and from what I can tell, it does seem that this basically just replaces the first game. Saves me $50 at least… I can throw that at Real Bout collection and Fist of the North Star now.
If you notice, they also put in some generic characters (generic Shinigami, generic Nurse and a few Hollow/Menos Grande-spawn characters). Ehh, i would’ve liked to see some Vaizard and Arrancar…heck… even Bounto characters instead of the waste-of-space generic characters. Sigh. That’s 3 extra slots for more deserving characters, Treasure! shakes fist
Oh wells…don’t mean to nitpick. I’m still gonna play this shit regardless. I’m looking forward to collecting Friend Codes from you fellow SRK’ers when this is out.
Yeah characters like Generic Shingami caused quite an uproar for some people but like with the previous game since the joke characters templates are already in the game it doesn’t take much effort to throw them in…mainly people are pissed because the joke characters were revealed last as if they were important as Ulq and Grimmjaw (who didn’t make the cut btw). Oh well…
For Wifi, I hear once you make your Wifi Nick you won’t be able to change…so yeah think about that if you plan on playing vs. games alot that way.
Shipping Day, wheee…my order is currently on it’s way as I type. Looking forward to Hisagi (“Mr.69”), Ikkaku (with massive Bankai of win), and changes for old characters like Hitsugaya along with the general gameplay changes (air throws finally).
I just got this game…first things first, here’s the bad news:
The wallpaper(s) look like shit … i miss the wallpaper of locations from the first game
Character art doesn’t look like Tite Kubo drew them, although i could be wrong. They look OK, but not as good as the manga.
This new “theme song” in the intro doesn’t sound great either. (I think High and Might Color sung it) I would’ve strongly preferred YUI’s Rolling Star instead. Oh wells.
Absolutely no Arrancar/Vaizard characters :sad:
Now, onto the good things:
Some Bankai animations look re-drawn and re-done
There are new voices clips
Larger roster … duh (although you still have to unlock them one by one)

last section, crap looking shinigami with weird moustache
next to him, girl with pink hair next to the filler character
little boy(girl?) next to bonnie-chan
crap looking shinigami = generic shinigami
girl w/ pink hair = generic nurse / 4th Squad medic
little boy = Shibita (the kid who’s spirit was trapped inside a talking parrot that befriended Chad in one of the early episodes from Season 1)
FYI: The generic characters/Hollows are part of the story mode, that’s why they’re playable.
