you can just go straight into 236236K, or heat up + 5D -> 236K and then proceed to do a full romance wing combo (which is a string of six 236P/Ks that juggle)
one of urs’ biggest strengths is that he has verifiable combos off of close 5C. it’s kinda like a cammy close fierce in cvs2:
5C -> link 623C
5C -> link 623C -> 236236P
5C -> link 3D
5C -> link 214K
5C -> link 236K
5C -> link (heat up) + 236K (hard, but you get a full heat up combo from there)
5C is a high parry. to mix it up you have a verifiable low combo with 2B 2B -> 623C -> 236236P
on block, you can use the frame advantage off of 5C to do all sorts of other offense
in heat up mode, urs can chain-kara cancel his attack chains into 236K for a wall bounce and lots of damage, but that’s really hard to do
also, i can never seem to catch anybody (except brand new players) online. add my gamertag people: buktoothSRK
Oh shit I started using the girl with the skull thing and she’s hella tight. This is like one of the few games where I feel I can bounce around between characters comfortably.
Aksysgames started their own podcast, which can be found on their main site. They got an interview with the translator of Battle Fantasia too… it’s pretty interesting to listen to if you’re a fan of the game.
played some online games, got my ass beat but it was still fun. i sorta have to pick urs to survive, but id like to learn other characters at some point
there’s nothing wrong with picking top tier. in fact, i think it’s more silly to pick low tier for no other reason other than because they’re low tier. what are people trying to prove?
the most important aspect in fighting ashley is stopping his jumping 2C. if you can’t stop that, he gets in basically for free and things get ugly
parrying it is not the answer. ashley can just vary the timing of when he does the J2C, hit your whiffed parry and get a full jump-in combo. also, bounce parries aren’t fast enough to hit a J2C, and regular parries usually don’t guarantee anything meaningful to most characters
you’re going to have to rely on good old-fashioned anti airs. urs and marco’s 2C works really well. olivia and odile’s 5D also works well if you’re fast enough. cedric’s 28K works too. donvalve’s 4C is iffy
everybody else doesn’t have a solid answer for ashley’s J2C. meeting him in the air and interrupting is usually the best option if you don’t have a solid ground anti-air, but in order to do that you generally have to anticipate and just blindly jump forward at ashley and hope he jumped too. this can lead to all sorts of bad things if you guess wrong, though
characters that can’t stop ashley’s J2C generally just have to out-offense ashley, since ashley’s defensive measures aren’t all that great either
thanks, ill try 2C next time i play against an ashley. im guessing you gotta do it early since 2C looks like it has a lot of startup. also what do you do when ashley spams j2C on your wakeup? just block it? it seems to cross up and i havent had much success trying to reversal DP it.
Im not saying its good to pick someone just because there low tier. I honestly think that considering teir when picking a character is dumb (im not calling anyone dumb, im just saying). BUT i do give more respect to someone that wins with lower tier.
donvalve’s anti air super is actually a hit, and thus can be parried
there’s nothing wrong with picking top tier because they’re top tier either. in a match, you do whatever you can to maximize your chances of winning. no reason to not apply that same philosophy outside of a match
