Jayducky,
can you post a more closeup shot of the battery terminals and which you wired as + and -? I want to order the battery but want to make sure that its wired correctly (in case it was a factory assembly anomaly)…
thanks man

USB. fun for you and fun for me!
Sorry for the blurry picture. The terminal on the left is from the battery
that comes with the sixaxis. The right is the sparkfun. very easy to switch the wires from the terminal. Oh yea… I’ve been playing sf4 all day and I still have a full charge on my VSHG. I can’t recommend this mod enough.
looks great. check your pm box shin
please add me to this list. I have been looking for this for long time. you my friend are a godsend.
Thanks Jayducky… are the connectors in the picture tongue side up? Any problems with recharge?
That looks so nice in there ;D! Love how tiny ShinJN made it.
Just wanted to reply and say thanks for the boards. They arrived last night and all seem intact.
DSlayerX: That looks real good. Hope you are enjoying wireless Street Fighter 4!
johnnywashngo: Glad the boards got to you
gns: I saw your stick in the other thread. Good work.
Jayducky: Looks like I’m going to have to get some batteries. Cheers.
Hey I realize this is a few pages back, but i just opened up both my DS3 controllers. Both have model number CECHZC2U. One has the 20 pin connector, the other has the press-on type. There is a big difference in serial number, and appear to be made of a slightly different texture of plastic. Can anyone confirm this theory??
The one with 20 pin connector has the s/n (smooth shiny finish):
8518011102647
The one that has the press-on connector has the s/n (matte finish):
0468110810379
DS3 mystery solved?
Ok since I have two dualshock 3 controllers, identical model numbers, one with the 20 pin slot connector, the other with the press-on connector, i decided to look carefully to see if there is a difference so everyone here can tell which one to buy for axisdapter and i think i’ve found one…
Heres a closeup of a DS3 with the 20 pin connector:
Notice that the piece of plastic separating R1/R2 and L1/L2 is removable… In the pic above, R1/R2 has the plastic “bridge” in place while for L1/L2 its been removed…
Now take a look at a closeup of a DS3 with the press-on connector:
Notice that the “bridge” is molded into the controller shell… its not a third piece…
Here is a pic of the two side by side… i’ve highlighted in red so everyone knows what to look for when buying a DS3… look for the telltale line! The newer DS3 plastic shell appears to be made with a different mold than the older one!
oh yeah, just in case anybody want to know
Sparkfun has 124 6Ah battery in stock
if you want one, get it now XD
Top work - that will make it a lot easier when guying parts to make sure we don’t end up with the wrong kind of pad - although I’d imagine that using a DS3 is a pretty expensive way of making a stick - although … thinks about having rumble in a stick … hmmm!
Anyone know if SF4 has rumble?
If anyone is from Toronto and needs a sixaxis, i’d be willing to trade mine for a DS3 with the press-on ribbon
Good job purplearms. Nice inspecting. =D
Edit: To elaborate more on purplearms’ observation… it makes sense why the 20-pin DS3 have the removable bracket that holds the R2/L2. All SIXAXIS only controllers have the exact same thing. Once Sony decided to make a new rev of the DS3, they decided to remold the controller housing as well. I’m going to add this information to the first post once more can confirm this method of DS3 spotting. Kudos to purplearms.
Thanks… I just found and bought two more controllers with the old controller housing, and both use the 20 pin socket, and cracked open my friends’ newer model DS3 and it had the press-on type ribbon. So far the method looks reliable. The re-mold of the shell definitely uses different plastic (older one being smoother and shinier, newer one having a matte finish)…
Hey shinJN, I remember way back then I was asking for a wireless PCB, and you did tell me to stay tuned… I guess this is the answer! Question: when you’re trying to pair the controller up with the PS3, do you still have to hit the home button? Or do you plug it in VIA USB first, then pull it apart and let the good times roll?
I love this! I have been searching all over for a way to make use of my SIXAXIS PS3 remote controll and rig the guts into my old Street Fighter Anniversery Joystick I got for 3rd Strike. I tried to send a PM but since I am new to the forums I cannot PM you as of yet. I have been to shoryuken forums in the past just never registered my friend showed me how to swap out the buttons in my Joystick with Happs buttons.
Anyhow to get to the point. Is there anyway I can get put on the waiting list for 2 © Configured boards please. If so please let me know if not I’ll find a way not to anger all the regulars on the forums with nonsense rants.
Question for those that have done this MOD to their existing Joystick not sure if this is the right forum for it I would think so since this is where the mod exists.
Is there any difference in response time going wired or via wireless using this MOD?
