Official AXISdapter Thread: SIXAXIS/DS3 Hacking Made Easy (ONLY PACK A avail)

Curious, it’s a shame that it effects VF5 as that would be one of the games that I would play with it …
But a wireless stick is SO cool, hmm will give it some more thought, it has to be said that this AXISdapter is awesome. Out of curiosity do the Sixaxis or the DS3 run over USB when connected or are they only charging? If they run over USB then I could plug in for VF!

Sorry on a second read through your post - clearly it’s an issue with the bluetooth in the Sixaxis and the DS3 more than AXISdapter

thats odd because i thought there were tests that indicated wireless was lagless. now im starting to doubt if i should use this axisdapter in my te stick.

Here’s the link to the thread the test results were in.

Cheers for that that confirms it - I’m going to butcher a sixaxis and get a AXISdapter from ShinJN! Thanks for the responses!

Cheers

Nice … its going to sweet when its done. Looking forward to seeing your build.

You are correct in what I used for my charging cable. I can’t remember where I got it. I just googled USB mini cable 1 ft.

The battery life is awsome! I have been playing MVC2 and thirdstrike for about 5 hours and it shows that I still have a full battery. Not sure if it’s single cell or not. Toodles said it would work so I gave it a shot. Thanks Toodles! The only caveat is that you have to switch the black and red wires on the sparkfun battery. easy to do though.

I’m glad it’s working. You said you switched the black and red wires (which is damn odd you’d have to), but were you able to use the connector that came with the sparkfun battery, or did you have to use the one from your old original sixaxis battery?

Yeah, I used the same connector that came with the sparkfun battery. When I first got the battery I just plugged it in to my sisaxis pcb. A couple minutes later it smelled like something was burning (electronic burning). I quickly pulled the sparkfun battery out a realized the issue. Come to think of it, my battery could have just been assembled incorrectly at the factory. It was easy to switch the two wires at the connector. pics don’t show but I used velcro to fasten the battery. works good.

New batch has been ordered. Should be here by end of next week. The special feature… new color and it will feature my new logo. =D

pretty sure its been clarified that its a wireless connection regardless of whether its plugged into the ps3 or not, but is there any way via modding or something to set it so that its wired only?

hmm… no… if you plug into the PS3 with a uSB, its gonna switch to wire. The signal will be transfer via USB
so no mod is required

you are probably thinking about the wireless 360 controllers

anyway, ShinJN, care to give any emphasize on the new wireless adapter?
or we just have to wait and fine you

I can’t use PM’s yet can you put my name on the list - check me out on Ebay or Rllmuk and NTSC-UK forums (same user name).

I assume if you PM me I can PM you back!

It definitely communicates over USB (I just checked) if my Devkit at work doesn’t have the BlueTooth ariel plugged in the pad only works of it’s plugged in over USB!

Heh it’s going to be a little while in the making - although the wife has expressed an interest as she loves woodwork (and I suck at it!). I’m currently trying to find an off the shelf solution for a case (not a Norris) but finding sloped top boxes in a decent hardwood is proving to be a challenge.

currently torn between Sanwa non transparent buttons and transparent Seimitsu buttons apparently Sanwa are better but I like the aesthetics of continusing the artwork on the buttons!

Definitely, seimitsu for aesthetics. I have a modded DC agetec with the seimitsu & lightup mod; looks great with the continuous art. But I don’t actually use it at all. I find the seimitsu buttons too hard and almost exclusively play on my full sanwa mods. I only bring out the agetec when I want to be “geek” cool with m friends :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Just a few more day before SFIV and wireless sitck goodness.

yeah when u gotta sanwa’s lying around seimitsu’s somehow doesnt feel that good…

I figured the general consensus was that the Sanwa parts are just better, think I’ll adjust my artwork choice accordingly and go all Sanwa. As SFIV, I’ll be playing wired through an adapter on my trusty old PS1 Namco arcade stick.

Quexes, you’re added to the list.

As for buttons, Sanwa’s are generally softer to the fingers tips. I’ve only used the clear seimitsu buttons so I do not know if their slight stiffness is universal amongst all seimitsu buttons. But when comparing the two, Sanwa definitely is softer to the fingers.

As for the new adapter, nothing really has changed. It’s the the same shape but is a new color and it now has a logo I created for myself. It also has an additional hole where resistor hole “8” is right now. What that lets you do is fold the board onto the left analog peg and secure it with a twisty tie or something. You’re going to have to find a way to prevent it from pulling on the stick though. In addition, you’re going to have to solder the screw terminals on the bottom instead of the top. I also added pin out numbers to the underside just in case you do decide to go this route. It’s not as clear as labels, but at least you’ll know what wire goes where easier.

Thanks man, that’s one step closer my first custom stick build!

so are there any people making wireless ps3 sticks using this yet??? i want one!!!
