Official AE Juri Changes Thread

Having a HK Release that juggles into anything will completely change the matchup against dive-kickers IMO.

This needs to be true.

We already have a hk release that juggles into a lot. Just hitting the hk release takes good reads.

Now if you mean the store kick I’d like to hear more about why this would help vs … Say… Cammy or Rufus.

I was talking about the release, as Juicebox said, HK Release > Dive Kick 3 hits, so one good read would end their momentum completely or lead to some high damaging stuff.

I think it was seen in one of the first videos from AE that HK fuhajin is pretty much the same old.

Just grasping at straws here, it’s not like there’s any kind of info that I can look forward to aside from frame data, which we won’t be seeing for a while.

It looked the same, but I just want to confirm the juggle properties, if possible.

right guys be a little more specific, what do you want to find out about :hk: release combos. Be precise about the conditions of the combo for example:

  • midscreen :hk: release hitting the opponent in the air -> jump forward -> divekick (1hit) -> ultra

stuff like that.

As far as i’ve observed the strength of the kick doesn’t determine the height of the launch

It’s too slow to really do anything vs dive kicks except high as hell dives or happy accidents.

Don’t be too eager for frame data changes. I dontthink anything else changed I’m curious about fuhajin changes. Maybe better start up? Better recovery? Hoping.

Juri needed one thing improved imo. She was alright in a lot of ways but not awesome in one way. Now she’s a corner beast.

Fuhajin store xx release is great for cornering your opponent. And store xx store is great fr corner mix up.

I’m telling you guys… Ae she’s gonna be really good. Her corner pressure will surprise people.

Pretty much that kind of combo. HK Release against midair opponent > Divekick 1hit/3hits, etc.
I just want to check if you can juggle anything - even normals - off a HK release. Testing with a dive kick should be enough to be certain.

well in SSF4, after hitting an airborne opponent with :hk: fuhajin you can:

  • (dash) :mk: super
  • dash -> ex fuhajin
  • dash -> ex pinwheel

corner

  • :lk: pinwheel
  • ex fuhajin
  • ex pinwheel
  • (close st.:hp:) :hk: super
  • (close st.:hp:) ultra 2

According to juggle data HK Fuhajin (air hit) > close.HP shouldn’t work in vanilla SSF4, although I haven’t checked it.

You could try:

[
]HK Fuhajin (air hit) > jf.MP
[*]HK Fuhajin (air hit) > shikusen (1-hit)

Any of those connecting would indicate something changed. Probably need the corner for some of those.

You could also try:

[]HK Fuhajin (air hit) > LK Pinwheel (in SSF4 it should hit 1 hit only, total 2 hits for combo, so if it hits twice, for a total of three hits, somethings different)

]HK Fuhajin (air hit) > MK Fuhajin release (air juggle) (This is likely to connect, unless they only changed juggle properties for Low fuhajin.)
[*]HK Fuhajin (air hit) > LK Fuhajin release (air juggle) (This should connect, based on what we’ve seen)

:hk: release to :lk: pinwheel doesnt necessarily need to be in the corner currently. I’ve landed it in other situations.

Let’s see how the twins turn out, I don’t expect them to be too horrible. And I keep hearing their dive kicks aren’t safe. I guess they have around similar advantage as Juri’s dive kick, if not worse?

Really interesting indeed. I guess her buffs are really starting to make a difference matchup-wise. I remember reading their matchup thread a while back - I love doing this btw, love to see what other subforums have to say about us - and they didn’t seem to regard us as much of a threat.

And about the twins, while I do think they are OP - as in too good but not “too good” in a sense of being broken - their flaws, while not many, make up for it.

They are definitely really strong, but they shouldn’t be more of a problem than Rufus is right now, specially considering their dive kick isn’t as useful - altough still pretty good. Just don’t get hit because their damage potential seems huge.

Also, Yun seems to have crap defense. While Yang can use his EX command dash to escape pressure, Yun doesn’t really seems to have something like that. Add the fact that he has crap health, and he is pretty balanced overall.

I do that occasionally too, in addition to following several other character forums regularly since they’re my alts :slight_smile: Although, I think the best advice in a matchup thread I’ve seen so far is something on the level of “vs Juri: I think EX Pinwheel is punishable”, I guess they haven’t run into trouble vs Juri … yet!

Akuma’s thread says something like “EX Pinwheel rapes crossups!” Hopefully they will never know…

Curse the utter lack of arcade cabinets in this country! I’d much rather be trying this out myself, rather than reading and speculating about it. Especially now that I’ve completely fallen out of the loop. I seriously need to get back to this game.

Hazama is pretty similar to Juri, isn’t he (in terms of personality and playstyle)? I can never get the hang of controlling him, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hazama’s Drives are so damn annoying -- and his combos are just hella annoying as well…even to watch…launch into j.ccccccc forever… ugh i guess im just salty about hazama because i main Tsubaki -- but i cant really talk about annoying drives because i also use Lambda…a lot. Lambda <3

actually thinking about it now…I use lambda for all the matches that i cant rushdown with Tsubaki…meaning most matchups…lol I can only really rushdown vs like…Noel…Rachel…Mu…and sometimes Hakumen…his normals are so slow -_-
