Refs gonna take heat for that game. Rivers got ejected in the first half on some BS (he called āand-1ā), then the cheap one on CP in crunchtime. More interesting though is if folks are gonna call her out for being oversensitive, since that clearly didnāt warrant a tech.
As for Curry, nobody was gonna stop him last night - defensive lapses or not, dude was in the zone. The surprise was that Washington hung in there as long as they did - dudes couldnāt grab rebounds, thatās what finished the job.
The days of people enjoying dominance are over. Think about how many people hate the Patriots, or the Yankees, or Duke basketball. Our generation enjoys watching winners take a fall more than dynasties forming.
The Warriors offense has a lot to do with as well, I started watching the game in the 2nd quarter and just heard on SC that 10 of his makes was uncontested.
I didnāt even realize that watching the game that is a pretty ridiculous stat considering heās the best player in the league.
Iāve yet to meet anyone who hates the Warriors. If anything, they have the biggest bandwagon going right now. If anything, folks are overly protective of them. Take this thread, I theorycraft some possible defensive options for their pick and roll and point some of their deficiencies to promote discussion - suddenly I hate them.
All three of the teams you mention have given plenty of reasons for being disliked. From the cheating Patriots who get the benefit of just about every whistle (and non whistle for that matter), to Duke who historically has always gotten the whistle and the Yankees who buy chips - though thatās just how baseball works, so Iāll give you a pass on that. Being from Philly, Iāve hated the Yankees b/c they got so much coverage. Our local stations were giving us updates on their games and the Phillies are in the NL.
Even as a guy who likes Lebron, I canāt hate on anyone who has legit gripes w/ him b/c heās given plenty of reason.
Will people eventually turn on the Warriors? Sure, but not because folks will want to see them fail for the sake of failing, but because thereās going to be another team that makes strides and become the āitā team and everyone will jump on that ship. Thatās when theyāll start bringing up their issues w/ the Warriors that were always there, but they chose to ignore.
Steph creates space with his feet a lot. Heās also incredible at jump shooting. How do you guard a guy that can shoot from the half-way mark as well and expect it to go in? Itās ridiculous.
Dray Green and Klay Thompson definitely do help though, thatās what happens when you have a fast breaking team of good shooters
i think dominance acceptance depends on if you are heel or face. and even then there are variations: how many people watch mayweather fights in hopes that he may lose?
i think its more that the warriors play exciting ball AND win. nba community has done a great job and making the league about highlights, and curry has at least one per game that would make you throw down your controller if someone did it to you in 2k.
People only started to hate Ryback AFTER he stopped squashing people and was forced to go into legit matches. Before that, he was pretty damn over.
Also whatās importance is context. People like squash matches, but they have to like the ones doing the squashing. It takes a certain swagger, and a certain performance.
Itās a lot easier to like the Warriors bombing 3s on everyone in the most absurd ways and positions, than it would be to see someone dominate with defensive mastery. It also takes a certain attitude.
I didnāt watch any of the game until the 4th, but on some replays there was one fast break where Washington completely left Curry open on the wing. 4 guys in the paint (the other lagging behind) and none of them thought they should probably pick him up.
Those are the things that really hurt their opponents - bad defense. If Curry drains a 27 footer in your eye, then thatās just what it is - but when four defenders decide itās better to stop the ball than pick up the best shooter in the league⦠yea.
