ESPN has the worst scoreboard graphics ever. Why is that shit in the bottom-right corner, and why is shit so tiny on it?
Anyone got predictions for playoffs? Mine are:
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Indians
AL West: Athletics
Wildcard: Rays
NL East: Braves
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Dodgers
Wildcard: Phillies
WS: Yankees vs Cardinals
Explain yourself.
one of the best 1,2,3’s in baseball in cabrera, sizemore, choo. better if they get rid of hafner and move laporta into the 4 spot
average pitching masterson should be a beast though
shitty division
I don’t see a lick of good pitching on that team. They’re going to have to mash to win games in 2010.
No one in the AL Central has good pitching except for the White Sox, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Either way whoever comes out of the central is most likely a first round loss.
BTW if anyone likes twitter and starting lineups, i set computer to autopost lineups to twitter @MLBStarting9
Also for individual teams at @NicknameLineup
like @YankeesLineup
only ones that are different are ChiCubsLineup and DBacksLineup
Damned injuries.
Ian Kinsler… DL
Lance Berkman…DL
Jose Reyes…DL
Someone could have conceivably had all of those players on their fantasy team. That’s someone in for a world of hurt.
I’m thinking Sigley is just a closet Indians fan…i think last year or the year before he picked the Indians to win the Central and they finished like 4th, this year will be no different.
My picks:
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: White Sox
AL West: Rangers <<< going out on a limb, tough pick
Wildcard: Red Sox
NL East: Phillies
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Dodgers <<< tough pick
Wildcard: Braves
Well last year the Indians got so many injuries, it was as bad as what happened to the Mets. Then they traded away all their decent players (Cliff Lee, Pavano, Martinez) since they were going nowhere with the injuries. Add in a horrible bullpen and yea they ended up in 4th.
Just a shitty year for them. Not a fan though, I only watched one of their games last year and it enraged me to no end. Bet them big and they had like a 9 run lead or something ridiculous against the Brewers and the bullpen blew it in one inning.
edit: found the boxscore, it was only 5 runs but stll rough
Very well. I will also play the prognostication game.
AL
East: Yankees (just too good)
West: Angels (they always come through)
Central: Twins (Liriano might be back)
Wild Card: Rays (Boyz II Men)
NL
East: Phillies (As usual)
Central: Cardinals (Fantastic Four)
West: Rockies (Team is loaded)
Wild Card: Dodgers (Oh my god the only switch from last season)
Of course most of these picks will be wrong but I’ll probably forget them by July so it wont’ really matter.
I see the Rays being nice as hell, they have a lot of young talent BUT I can’t for the life of me see the Red Sox missing the playoffs, they are loaded 1-25 with no real weaknesses. The Yankees are the favorites but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Red Sox take the East and even win the World Series.
As a Yankees fan, I don’t like what the Red Sox have done. They got rid of the big boppers and built a team around solid pitching and good defense. As a Yankees fan this scares me. The Yankees always have trouble with those kind of teams. (Look at our historic problems with the Angels.) The Yanks love it when people try to outslug them, because they can match up against that so easily.
On a sidenote, how high do people value the closer position in fantasy? Like, if there’s a guy who’s gonna have a 5 ERA and 2 WHIP but end up with 30 saves vs a setup guy who will have a 1.9 ERA, just as many innings pitched, about 60 more K’s and a WHIP at around 1, who do you take?
^_-;
Who exactly are these big boppers that they got rid of? just Jason Bay?
Baseball isn’t like football or basketball, where teams matchup man for man. I don’t like that whole “we match up better against a slugging team than we do a speedy team”, just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
I’m wondering why people are saying the Sox are JUST NOW becoming a team built around pitching and fielding. With the exception of Julio Lugo, the entire Red Sox infield for the past several years has been brimming with quality fielders, including Youkilis, Pedroia, Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek, all four of which have won gold gloves. Their OF has never been particularly horrible. Manny obviously never won a gold glove, but Ellsbury, Coco Crisp, JD Drew, Jason Bay and the plug-ins they’ve always worked with are always solid. We all know the Sox have been a very strong pitching team the last few years.
They ARE better defensively and their pitching IS deeper than in previous years imo, having Dice K as your #6 says something…
I think this is their best all-around team in the last 5 years.
I pick them to win the WS this year.
Yeah, they are better defensively and their pitching is deeper…
That doesn’t change the fact that they’ve been a pitching-oriented team with quality fielding for a while now.
The race between the Yanks, Sox and Rays is gonna be interesting, especially since they’re all gonna mash the shit out of the crappy Orioles and Jays lol. As a Yankees fan, I pretty much have to pick the Yanks and Rays and say fuck the Sawks lol.
I’d like to see some of the Yankees catching prospects start to get more time this season. Posada is getting old as fuck, those knees are gonna give out eventually.
So i was busy on draft night and i had someone who knows nothing about baseball draft for me, they ere the only person i could get to do it. They drafted Chad Moeller, Jermaine Dye, Gary Matthews, Julio Lugo, and Bobby Parnell. I am trying to make my team better. This is my first year doing fantasy baseball, i guess we will see how it goes.
umm yeah, ima guess you woulda been better off with autopick
