Official 2010 MLB season/fantasy baseball thread

Trolling protip: don’t make statements that everyone agrees with, including fans of the team you are trying to troll.

imo.

OH HELL NO! NIGGA!

Ohhh You did not just ohhh child you need the lords help! PRAISE JESUS!

You’re right about the beer and garlic fries though… :coffee:

Griff was the Kingdome era. We have Ichiro in the Safeco Field era now.

Tampa Bay Rays. Yeah yeah I know that they’ve won the past couple of seasons but since they play in the AL East you’ll always be rooting for the underdog. They have a stupid amount of young talent. Look at all the young guys they have coming up this year or later. Reid Brignac, Desmond Jennings, Sean Rodriguez, Jeremy Hellickson, Matt Moore, Tim Beckham. With the talent already on the squad they’re going to be good for a while.

WOuld like to agree dat PNC park is where its at, saw the Pirates beat the Yankees there which was lols

rep a team thats fitted matches most of your outfits

that is how i am now a tampa bay rays fan. nice shade of blue

Unless Selig’s latest bright idea happens.

LOL @ “contender” and “Baltimore” in the same sentence.

Thank you Matrix

rays/red sox making the playoffs this year anyway

no need to move the rays they winning the east

as a lifelong cardinals fan im positive they will win the world series this year lol

Just go with the Rangers. They were a decent team last year, and they’re under new ownership (with Nolan Ryan making important baseball decisions iirc). Plus, they’re the only team shown on Fox Sports Southwest…if you have cable, that is.

rangers not gonna be good this year though

no pitching as usual but they lost a lot of offensive power. no power at 1B and vlad at DH = game over

rich harden pitching his 4-5 innings and ruining the bullpen before his arm explodes. holland and feldman are 5 inning pitchers too

the bullpen will be dead before the all star break

No power at 1B? Chris Davis has 35 HR power…

The Rangers are not great but by no means should they be written off as bad. They definitely have a shot at winning the AL West this year.

more like low 20s even in the rangers ball park. add in 150 strike outs and a <.300 OBP, not really what you want out of your 1B man

david murphy is a better option at 1st but they’ll use him in the OF corners / bench

rangers gonna end up in 3rd or 4th, division is between the mariners/As

wow low 20s?!? He had 21 in 391 at bats last season at the age of 23…

hmmm i dunno dude, all the projections have him in the high 20s, but thats with them not having him play 1B the whole season. You give him 1B the whole season and he hits 30+ HRs easy.

He strikes out a ton, but his OBP is not below .300, yes he had a .284 OBP last year but ill bet u my life that wont happen again, that’s ridiculous.

Again all projections have him having an OPS in the above .800, with Bill James projecting a .877 OPS which is very nice for such a young player.

Take away his awful first half last year (this happens to a lot of young/first year players) and he was pretty good and has a chance at being very good.

EDIT: ESPN projects him to hit 35 HR this year, who knows if they know wtf they are talking about, but that says something…

You should check out Bill James’s predictions for Chris Davis last year. Oh wait you already did. He just recycled them this year.

Anyway, Justin Smoak incoming…

white sox should be a big surprise this year, i’m kind of surprised how little hype they’re getting

all chi world series in 2010! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am a huge Chi Sox fan.

Why do you think they deserve more hype? While the pitching should be sick as hell, their offense on paper is severely lacking and their def is average, give or take. Quite a few things have to go right for the offense to produce such as: Rios bouncing back, Q not getting hurt, Pierre not being complete shit, and the biggest factor is the DH not sucking too bad.

That being said, me being a Sox fan, I’m going to pick them to win the division lol especially after the Nathan injury. They arent going to win 90+ or anything, I think they win 85-88 games. I hope that’s enough to win the division… it should be.

so anyone see that nomar got signed to the red sox for 1 day so he could retire as a sox. i think thats pretty dope…is this sumtin that happens alot?

yes, plenty of “star” players have done it

Nomars peak years 97-2000 were pretty awesome, he was destined for the hall of fame but oh well.

Considering the Jays are yet again rebuilding (with what seems like a competent GM in AA), I am yet again hopeful we can be competitive in a few years time.

For now, I’m hoping for 70-75 wins and a solid young rotation to gain experience, that and hopefully Vernon Wells becomes somewhat decent again.

While this may be sad, at least it’s still better than being a Cubs fan I suppose.
