The Thrashers get bigger and blacker and sign Donald Brashear, trade White to Rangers.
I don’t come from the camp that thinks Chicago is considerably worse after all the trades, I even consider Turco almost an upgrade although you gotta wonder how much gas he has left in the tank, but they lost all their intangibles.
Part of me is worried that the Hawks made the right call, and that next season Antti Niemi will turn into a bust for another team while Turco revives his career in Chicago and brings the Hawks back to the playoffs.
Part of me now thinks the Predators will win the Central.

think niemi will be solid wherever he goes though, really don’t think it’s possible to “fluke” through the playoffs and win the cup for your team. hope turco can be solid for us, don’t know too much about him yet.

Niemi had excellent D in front of him, he was hot at the time and there was a few times where he had some amazing luck (There were a few Canucks rushes where the puck bounced around like crazy in his crease only to be cleared by Seabrook or whoever was on the ice)
It kinda boils down to “Do we want a good goalie in the playoffs or goalie that goes on streaks and hope he’s hot in March?”
Cheap mid tier goalies are gonna be big for some teams in the upcoming years.

Although the complete over time rule sounds kinda far out the idea of seeing 2 vs 2 in the nhl sounds kinda cool from a fan stand point. I wonder if teams would use D pairs or fragmented forward lines.
It would be cool as a Vancouver fan because our 2 on 2 team would be the Sedins. THEY WERE BORN FOR THIS RULE.
I bet Detroit would use Datsyuk + Zetterberg. It would be super star time for 3 minutes, pairs like Crosby Malkin, Toews and Kane, Alfredsson + Spezza ect ect.
all of those are shit, except no touch icing. Atleast they stopped with the fucking bigger nets though.
the only things they need to do is get rid of the OT point, the instagator rule and add touch icing.
OT should be 5 on 5, especially if it’s only a couple minutes long.
Also, the 3 shooters in the shootout rule is gay too. Teams that have 3 solid forwards can destroy in shootouts and get a lot of extra points in the process. It should be 5 shooters (also giving teams/players leniency to try something new on the shootout, when you each have 5 chances to do so). No touch icing is a no brainer (also I would like to see the Goalie trapezoid eliminated…unless no touch is brought in instead).
well the whole reason its only a 5 minute ot is because of TV time. The didn’t want the games going on to long. So adding an extra 2 people doesn’t make sense. If the teams are tied they keep going anyway. Plus just cause you have good forwards doesn’t mean they are going to be good at shootouts…goalies win most of the time.
i don’t mind the 4 on 4 OT, now a days it’s just a buffer till the shootout anyway…i wouldn’t be suprised if one day they mention taking it right out (which would be gay) The only OT i care about being 5 on 5 and 20 minutes is playoff ot
