I understand Mtl hates Boston for knocking them out but really? You go and cheer against them? Wouldn’t you want the team to knock you out to do well? That way you can at least say you lost to the champs and not to a shit team (making you even shittier)?
I think this is why I don’t follow sports seriously, things confuse me.
There’s roughly 70 years of rivalry between the two teams. Why the hell would you expect any self-respecting Habs fan to cheer on a team they hate that much? It makes good sense to me to wish ill-will on the team that took you out of the playoffs, regardless of the sport.
So emotion > Logic then? See when I say I don’t follow sports, it really is because I’m missing the attachment to a team. I don’t have that passion for any of them in any sports. Hell my reason for wanting the habs out are purely selfish: so restaurants won’t be full and loud on game nights when I go out. It’s most likely why there’s plenty of things I don’t really get such as this.
And yes, emotion > logic in sports.
Only fairweather fans are the opposite. Like Edmontonians cheering for Vancouver, or Panther fans cheering for Tampa. Ask Biggzy if he is cheering for the Bolts.
I realized last week that quebec city doesn’t have Boston fans. There are plenty of people sporting Boston gear but they aren’t fans of the Bruins, they are Nordiques fans who hate the Habs because they don’t have their own team to call their own. That’s kinda sad o.O
Hehe yeah I’m cheering for the Bolts in the East. Buuuut I was also born in Tampa so I guess that’s another reason. I know just about all of my fellow Panthers fans are rooting for the Bolts too.
Tonights Flyers Bruins game should be good. The Flyers are so damn stupid, I’m so glad they’ve never realized that you need at least decent goaltending to go anywhere in the playoffs.
