Am I the only one having a problem playin Groove on Fight on MAME? it plays…but the SFX are fucked, and it lags at times!
What bios and emu are you using?
i’m not sure what bios i’m using but i’m using NeoMame32X,i know I had to put some bios into the file in oder to get MAME to even recognize it.
I’m REALLY ENJOYING!? KENSEI SACRED FIST for the PS1, it’s the best Tekken/bloodyroar knockoff I’ve played I usually hate most 3d fighters that don’t cut the cheese or are poor or half assed atempts, but this one delivers imho
small dl too only about 20megs maybe less. also remember that 2-d cyberbots type SNES mech fighter by bandai IIRC everyone likes there are 2 or 3 sequels on the PS1 with some really nice pre-rendered grafix (donkey kong country style) seems decent enough, haven’t really cut my teeth on it yet.
Gundam - Battle Assault
Gundam - Battle Assault 2
seems decent enough
Now recently I’ve been playing Fighters Impact in ZINC it’s pretty decent strange Virtua Fighter/ TEkken mix I like it, one guy plays just like Chuck Norris and one of the other guys really reminds me a lot of Jackson from Bloodsport the spitting image I swear.
The game has a strange focus on real fighting but it is also pretty crazy weird.
and JOJO BIZare ADVENTURE with a PSX emu, and it is pretty disapointing graphically whoo, but still decent and fun to play I guess.
Still love kensei though.
Says that the game isn’t properly emulated, so that’s no surprised that your getting problems. Even with that though, I had no issues running the game with wolfmameplus. So maybe try that one? Goofy game btw.
Yeah Bloodriot, I’ve been lately playing PSX games instead of MAME. Right now I’m playing some Inu Yasha fighter. I didn’t think there’d be much depth to the combos, since they’re preset chains in the game, and specials are done by direction+special button, but the links help the combos from being so mundane. Unfortunately most of them I’ve found lead to infinites. Not that I was expecting this game to be good at all.
Kesei huh? I’ll probably check it out since I don’t feel like unlocking all of the characters for Inu Yasha.
It was also running fine for me but maybe a bit slow. MAME 99 or something I forget.
You don’t have to Clear Sky you can just dl a save game from GFS http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/save/563546.html and load it in your PSX emulator that’s what I did with Kensei/Samurai Deeper kyo and Shaman King it should work with Inuyasha but I noticed the game is in JPN so you may have to load the save manually IIRC.
usually I load the game then go to cfg mem card and select the appropriate save game file eg kensei then all charas should be unlocked… save state and when I play next I load the state and all is well.
Yeah you got to try Kensei it’s a good game that had a lot of potential imho.
That Inuyasha had a lot of nice hit spark effects etc, wasn’t it also made by dimps? so I can see a bit of the rumble fish in it.
I still have to try Thrill Kill, Wu tang, Shaolin and a few JPN only fighters and then I think I’m done with the PSX fighters?
Heh, I always wanted to try Wu Tang. Looks like it has some combo .
Nice. I totally forgot about Gamefaq’s save states. Thanks a lot.
Yes your right, the game was made by Dimps, but I don’t know what would that mean, since I have no idea what other games they made around that time and if they had quality back then.
Kensei, I’m trying it today…
Oh please now that ppl is trying PSX games dont miss the chance to play Slapp Happy Ryhthm Busters. There is a combo vid in youtube and a brief description by no other than MrWithefolks. Play that thing everyone!!
LOL…sure I guess. When I first saw his video it turned me off from the game. Good video though.
You weren’t kidding about Kesei bloodriot. Such a rip off of Tekken, even down to the gameplay. Like for instance, the game’s okizeme is just like Tekken’s. That’s pretty ridiculous, but then again, it is a Tekken rip-off. Straight down to even the backgrounds and the game cover. LOL.
So far, the only thing I’m not liking is that stuff like jabs have horrible recovery rates. Hell…a lot of moves on hit do too, so it’s pretty disorientating since you have to adjust to that because you can’t do so on a visual level.
Yeah looks like really crazy game I must try it sometime, thanks Hanzo I also saw a youtube vid for one piece grand battle and that looks freaking crazy, must also try that some day.
Yeah Kensei is quite a rip but some things scream quailty imo like the counters, some characters have like 4 or 5 different counter animations depending on whether they hit mid, low, high, side step etc
also some of the moves look really good and brutal I really like them.
It has Tony Jaa(ong bak) and Steven Segal (not many fighting games have a fat steven segal hmmnnn?) I hear what your saying CS but compared with DOA 1 and Tekken 3 at the time it is pretty damn good effort imo.
It’s also really good for playing casual games against friends who suck at fighting games but want to be able to play them because it is also uber user friendly. I also didn’t think I would be playing it for as long as I have been playing it, it seems like everytime I play I find a new move etc.
If they made a sequel they could have added new charas and fleshed it out a bit that’s kind of sad, because back in the day imo I don’t think DOA was all that great back then but it did get better and better as it went on, I mean DOA4 is quite a decent game nowadays.
Lots of catching up to do here. Started the thread as an Arcade fighters thread, but seems to have gone in a console, pc direction. Guess thats the obvious route as newly Mamed fighters are pretty thin on the ground and the are 100’s of home system titles. Wld b nice if peeps could make some decent list with links like the 1st post rather than just ‘do U remember X game on the PSX’ etc… anyway

I.G.S’s (of Knights of Valour fame) first fighting game, from all the way back in 1994. Am actualy pretty keen to play this. Never imagined IGS had been around making fighters for so long. They didn’t come to prominence till thier late 90’s PGM titles:
http://perso.orange.fr/windjammers-fans/pgm/index.html
and I’d imagined that if they did exist before this, they were some anonymous Jamma Mahjong manufacturer. Makes me wonder what else they did between this and ‘the Killing Blade’ in 1998. Intruging…
Crayfish.
Asura Buster is fun, got to play it with a handful of people online, but they seem to feel Rosemary is broken (or at least, overpowered). She almost has a standing infinite (on Taros at least) but pushback seems strong enough to keep it from being a real infinite, I could be wrong. Either way, she’s massively improved over her Blade counterpart. There’s tons about the game we don’t understand (what triggers Last Stand?), but it’s still fun.
It’s a shame both Blade and Buster (Blade especially) suffered MASSIVE speed hits from Mame 116~ and on.
Eye of the Typhoon!
I had know idea Eye of the Typhoon had a 3DO port?! Anyway, here’s a vid of EofT in action:

Looks interesting at best?!. :looney:
It looks like they took a page from the AOF book, as the more energy you loose, you’ll see your character start to breath more…
Fantastic find Nebuloso:)
I didn’t thenk we were ever going to see the PCB dumped, so amazing that it turned up on the 3DO of all places! Love that old style of gfx and character designs (the Big Mama and the Cheng Sinzan clone being my two faves), but the gameplay looks to kinda fulfil some of my worst fears. Looks to retain some of the sloppy hit detection and awkward moves of the orignal engine, only now that it has a scaling playfield, ala SamSho, there is added ‘floaty’ jumping around in acres of space thrown in too!
Now if there was just a 3DO version of ‘Warlocks of the Fates’ too…
I do like the character designs and graphic style as well. I left a message for gdraxa (whose video is on youtube) to see if he can record and show short clips of all the characters special moves and if they had supers and show the boss.
Plus he mentioned that there were a couple of hidden characters, which would be interesting to see.

About Warlocks of the Fates… I’m not sure if this is an actual version, or someone did a fine job with photoshop? But if you scroll down on the English AES side, you’ll see a link showing an AES version of the game, but no manual, so I don’t know if it was a MVS - AES conversion, or what:

Wow, fantastic stuff! I wonder if the old naturalistic shaded style of sprites will ever have a resurgence? They’ve been making retostyled games with a spin on 80’s pixel/vector art for quite a while now. Maybe at some point the late 80’s early 90’s style will get a modern makeover?
I wonder how complete Warlocks is and if we’ll ever see a dump? And love to see Tenrin No Syo Chicago too.
I really dont see any reason now not to dump the games… Im pretty sure its just down to those uber anal Neo Cart collector types who want to be the keepers of the ultimate SNK fettish object…
*offtopic- btw that unreleased Neo Pinball game looks awsome too.
Crayfish.
It appears Breakers went through a few name changes:
- Tenrin No Syo Chicago - http://emustatus.rainemu.com/protos/games/tnschcgo.htm
- Crytal Legacy - http://www.neogeoprotos.com/images/flyers/cl.jpg
- Breakers - http://emustatus.rainemu.com/games/breakers.htm
I must admit, I like the VS screen artwork in Tenrin Chicago the best. And it would be interesting to see if the games, graphics were changed/altered between development names. :wonder:
And I do remember seeing the Crystal Legacy name used in an issue of Gamefan magazine.
Anyone every played Ragnagard on the Neo Geo? 1996 fighter with rather newschool mechanics… it’s fun for an hour or two but it’s probably the ugliest fighting game I’ve ever seen. Toshinden-level 3D models converted to 2D sprites KI-style, except with the limitations of the Neo’s resolution and color palette…
