Obscure (But Awesome) Video Games

I’d say it was ignored more because “OMG HALOS!” than because it was on the Xbox.
And just because a game is packed in doesn’t mean people actually payed attention to it.
I just got my PS3 with Arkham Origins (aka pizza) and The Last of us and I’ve already traded Arkham Origins for Super SF IV.

The fact the original Xbox was over all ignored by the majority means JSRF was mostly ignore by said majority.

And that’s too bad Arkham Origins way better then Super Slow Fighter IV.

I agree with the first part.

I completely disagree with the second! Arkham Origins is so…meh.

Panel De Pon for the Super Famicon which got retooled as Tetris Attack in the US with Mario bros characters replacing the originals.
Panel De Pon had it’s own cast of characters I think Nintendo should never let abandoned.

The series took another hit when it got an surprising face lift as Pokémon Puzzle League (N64) and Pokémon Puzzle Challenge (Game Boy Color)
The N64 version is just awful as there more references to the Pokemon Anime than even Pokemon Yellow Version with actual cut scenes from the show. On a Positive note it had the best FMV for a N64 game having video quality that at the time was only seen on the PlayStation (PS1).

Pokémon Puzzle Challenge was not as terrible as it sorta followed the Pokemon gyms from Gold/Silver as the basis for the story.
Recently the series dropped the Pokemon theme (thank god) and just now as Puzzle League with no supporting cast or story.

other game which was really good but most people passed on it.

For those who have no idea what game this image is for

Too bad Square Enix’s Strongest titles was in the SNES and PS1 days.
PS2 had some decent titles but not in the scale the older titles did.

Another RPG I think deserves more attention

Golden Sun on the Game Boy Advance

Great Story and game play and for a GBA game it had effects just as good (if not better) that the console RPGs.

to me FF8 was the start of squre’s down fall, not a lot of people liked 8. Then FF 9 and chrono cross got a lot of hate. Speaking of squre

might be one of the best games on DS

The World Ends With You sold over 600,000 copies.

That’s not as much as Golden Sun, which moved over a million.

How do you know that? I mean, did you just go look it up so you could prove this guy wrong or do you just keep track of this shit for some weird reason? Just curious. Gamers are crazy to me.

I know all sales figures by heart, you ridiculous asshole B).

Edit: but seriously though. I looked up the figures to make sure I wasn’t falsely perceiving these games as anything but obscure.

Im not an asshole. Im not the one that went and looked something up just to prove someone wrong.

I’m too busy playing Gears of War to argue with you. It’s a cool game, in case you’ve never heard of it.

Gears of What?

P.S. You cant argue with me.

I could, but I’m not going to come up with a better punch line than “Gears of What?”

Anyway, I realize some games were mentioned because they should have received more accolades/attention than they did. I’d be keen on seeing some obscure games discussed in here, though. Show us something new.

and still a million times better then most squre games put out on next gen consoles at the time.

And by your logic sells makes a better video game? K, so CoD, Madden, GTA,series are some of the best games ever made lol. And yet a lot of people hate all those games

Yes, my argument was that sales are indicative of quality.

Wait, no it wasn’t. Here, let me help you:

i really dont know what your point was

Machines: Wired for War

Came out in 1998. I think this was the first strategy game that let you go into first person shooter mode for each individual unit.

Played the fuck out of it, I’m sure I still have the disc for it. Pathfinding was kinda ass sometimes but that was my only complaint.

I remember there still being a dedicated community for it a year or so ago, but can’t find it now.

Eschatos alone is the best new shmup release last gen hands down (I guess you could make a case for a few others but nah not me) . 3 awesome stgs in one package. Only $30 alone and region free this is just a steal. Not sure how much the Wonderpack with Ginga Force costs but Ginga Force was a great followup/sequel as well. I’m not as enticed to score in that one since its just single stage score attacks but it definitely deserves a playthrough.

Also DAT MUSIC.

I mean how can you not get hype to blow up some shit when that is playing!?!?!

Some other

I’m not so easily trolled. You’re not an idiot, right?

Ninja Warriors was a good beat em’ up and I never heard of it. Streets of Rage and Final Fight usually get the nod for the 90s but this one was a fun button masher 2D walkthrough also with cool death/destruct animations if you got beat. Alien vs Predator Arcade game…I never saw this in any arcades in the 90s. Fun beat em’ up rom to playthrough with a friend. Nostalgic stuff, makes you miss those 2D side scroller beat em’ up days in the arcade.
