Wish I could have found a shorter video but weirdly enough this is the only one I’ve found which has the music.

hahaha we can have differing opinions and still be cool friend. When I was younger I used to have too much fun pissing pac man off and making him run through the town doing stupid stuff, or eat fruit that would have him lose his mind.

Is Phantasy Star 4 obscure? Whatever, it’s awesome. Here’s me playing it: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoy2tCqTI_SqIPGJEzTbUztXLMUmRMlGe

Can upcoming unreleased games be obscure? The maker of IWBTG is making a game called Brave Earth: Prologue. It’s awesome. Here’s me playing it: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoy2tCqTI_Sp__rQfJR9i5OGLZIaX_ZUh

On that same topic, Aces Wild, by Kicks. It’s awesome. Here’s me playing it: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoy2tCqTI_SoaVCkLTLH7JNWls7ud_9qb

Since nobody put these games up I will

Valkyrie Profile

this is probably my favorite Famicom game (it also got a PS1 release)

its been featured in GCCX i know, but it should still be under the “obscure” tag.

Phantom Dust

I don’t know how known it is but it’s one of my favorite all time.

At least it gave us one of the best walk cycles

Here’s a few of my favorites. I’ll assume they fit here.

Jetman (NES)

Shadow of the Ninja (NES)

The Adventure of Little Ralph (PS1)

Galaxy Fight (NG)

Battle Circuit (CPS2)

Skip to about 8:20 so you can see what the gameplay is like, then wait for the bonus round and hold on to your asscheeks.

When this game came out, it was my drug of choice. Plus weed.

Reminds me of Audio Surf.

That’s a good thing.

DYAD is also cool:

It’s ridiculous that they never (right?) made an iOS port of that game. Like, do you NOT want my money?

i have it on Steam but I’d probably play it a while lot more if I had it for my iPod.

Maldita Castilla, a GnG/other classic sidescroller tribute that not only retains the original series’ dark charm and difficulty, but also references 12th-century European myth and tales of chivalry:

Also uses real arcade sound!

La-Mulana isn’t entirely obscure, but deserves a mention anyway. Another homage to side-scrolling exploration games (especially Konami’s Maze of Galious, which should also not go unmentioned) that draws from various myths to form its backdrop. Also created as a response to the trivialization of death-and-restart that many games have taken in the past decade. The game creators also seem to have something of an MSX fetish.

Majesty is just underappreciated. Kind of odd in that you don’t directly control your units like you would in other Fantasy RTSes, so it operates more like a traditional sim with light RPG elements. I remember playing this in the time leading up to WC3’s release.
