Obscure (But Awesome) Video Games

I have played most of these or heard of them at the very least. I will say though, there was a fighting game that I used to play at a friends house , but now neither of us can remember the name of it. It was for the PS1, came out mid 90’s in one of the “long case” and it was 3d. I don’t remember much about it aside from the fact that there was one level that was in space and you fought on light blocks that changed color between rounds. Had mechanics similar to Tekken. Anyone have the foggiest Idea what I’m talking about?!

That’s 'cause Treasure (Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Ikaragua) did it.

Also what GBA was great. Unless you’re thinking of the late years of.

Well, I know all these 3D fighters had long cases:

Zero Divide (Saturn version in the vid, but I’m guessing the PS1 version is exactly the same)

Any of those look familiar?

Recently picked up Maken X.

I discovered the game while lurking about for Shin Megami Tensei related info. After watching some gameplay videos, I concluded I’d get it. Moments before ordering it, I casually mentioned it to a friend, who turned out to have already played it and thought it was awesome.

I haven’t played it yet, since I’m a bit busy atm.

Obscure and awesome? It’s not either. I remember this being hyped as hell.

I know some guys who still think it’s awesome. Not obscure though.

Or maybe obscure now.

Maybe not so much obscure and awesome (I know a ton of people had it, plus it was in a bunch of kiosks in just about every KB Toys/Toy ‘R’ Us at the time), but I’m just brainstorming to help TBF08EU identify a game.

Although, for what it’s worth, the soundtrack is great. I don’t think I ever bothered to learn any special move commands since the game had most of them macro’d to the shoulder buttons I think by default.

off topic but what the fuuuck is up with that your quote.

Topic about obscure games people probably don’t know about. Posts picture in a language 99.9% of them can’t read as well. Brilliant.

I dont know why people arent just posting a quick youtube clip of the game so people can see it real quick.

Because that would be smart?

You mean like what 90% of the posters in this topic have been doing?

yes some people have been but others are posting pics like described above or are just typing a name of a game. The point is these are supposed to be obscure and not very widely known about titles so posting a quick clip of the game you post lets us see it.

You mean the sig? It’s a quote from another forum that I found hilarious.

Before Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Uniracers for the SNES had the best stunt/trick mechanics and of course the obscure N64 puzzle game Tetrisphere

Ninja Warriors, a great arcade and SNES game that probably would have been a classic had they had 2 player support or got a sequel that offered it.

Nope, that was on the PS2, you might be thinking of Muramasa: The Demon Blade which is a side scroller and unrelated.

While the Kunio Kun series is no stranger to anyone who’s vaguely familiar with the NES and SNES, many of its entries aren’t discussed regularly. I played this game with another person through netplay the other day, and while the game had a lot of syncing issues, the moments in which it did work were very fun. It’s a beat-em-up following the usual KK format, with more RPG elements like shops, a world map, and a leveling system blended in.

If we’re going to be citing relatively-known surreal RPGmaker2k3 games, you might as well include Space Funeral.

Jumping Flash, I loved this game.
