OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

 Nice!

If one of Rocket Raccoonā€™s assists is his Log Trap special move, itā€™ll work really well for Wright.

It is. Shown in one of the gameplay vids.

Done and done. Wright/Strange/RR day 1.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Fuck Doom, I might be running a West / Wright / Coon team.

I was thinking of running frank on the same team as PW, but they both seem like they should be on point.

I was thinking about team building as well. It seems like PW is going to primarily be a user and is going to want a strong battery (such as Wesker) to build up the meter for the level 3 and well as a fairly defensive assist character to help keep opponents off him while collecting evidence.

Thinking about teams like:
PW(Missile) - Wesker(Samurai Edge) - Haggar(Lariat)
PW(Missile) - Wesker(Samurai Edge) - Ghost Rider(Whatever that hell spire-looking assist is)
PW(Missile) - Wesker(Samurai Edge) - Strider (Teleport Assist)

Wondering if anyone could give any thoughts on these

You seem pretty bent on using Wesker, but Iā€™ve been enlightened by Ghost Rider lately. He seems to fit PW pretty well as far as your qualifications go. This is the team I plan on using:

PW(Missile) - Ghost Rider(Spire thing) - Strider(Teleport)

That way you get two different defensive assists, but Spire also OTGs and (possibly) continues combos. At the very least itā€™ll serve as a way to land an OBJECTION!

Ghost Rider strikes me as a great battery character. He does indeed use meter just like Wesker does, but the sheer amount of meter from blocked fullscreen attacks will, in my mind, build a ton of meter. At the start of the match, play PW and gather evidence with the aid of Maya and those two assists. Then find a way to safely tag out into Ghostie and chip away until he dies. Also, Ghost Rider benefits from Missile greatly with a full screen unblockable and Iā€™m sure heā€™ll find some use for Striderā€™s assist. Then when Ghost Rider dies, youā€™ve got PW with (ideally) full evidence and at least 3 bars, and youā€™re free to go for that level 3 as much as you wish. And, if that backfires on you, you have Strider, level 3 X-Factor, and Ourobouros to make sure that meter doesnā€™t go unspent. If at any point in time your order gets disrupted, Strider will benefit from Missile assist as well, with teleport and wall cling crossups/unblockables.

As far as DHCs go, you can probably go
PW (Maya) -> Ghost Rider (Bike with Wallbounce) -> Strider (Zoo)
PW (Gavel) -> Ghost Rider (Tornado thing) -> Strider (Zoo)
Ghost Rider (Bike with Wallbounce) -> PW (Maya) -> Strider (Zoo)
With probably more possibilities in the corner, mainly with Strider starting.

On day 1 I might sub out Strider for Nemesis so I can focus on learning PW with the help of an armored assist and easy combo anchor before I try to learn Strider fully. Depends on how difficult and unforgiving Striderā€™s low health is.

So guys, I may have posted this before, but hows this for a little Phoenix wright strategy?

V.Joe/Wright, get a hit in using Missle for unblockable/pressure, then finish the combo in a Viewtiful GodHand (causing SLOW) DHC into Wrights Maya super, then get the evidence I need while Maya beats up the opponent+ they are slowed. Genius, unrealistic, whats up?

Iā€™d put Wesker first. Wright doesnt really need an OTG as he can do it himself plus Wesker gains a bunch of meter and Missile can help you continue combos or unblockableā€¦ as for the last character, Strider seems to be the best anchor if you have meter.

Yeah Wesker has been a staple for my teams since day 1 of vanilla and Iā€™d hate to have to drop him (especially considering he seems to have been buffed in many ways). Even though, admittedly, Wesker has never a great choice to DHC in damage-wise.
Part of me has been considering seeing if Strider/Vergil could fill in his spot.

I am really excited to see how well GR and PW work together though. Things like the missile assist with GRā€™s 3/4 screen j.S seem crazy if the opponent doesnā€™t respond fast enough. And PW seems like he pretty much is going to need OTG assists to make him at all viable for damage output while in Investigation-court room modes.

I havenā€™t done too much research on Ghost Rider yet either but Dhalsim is my main in AE so Iā€™m hoping I wonā€™t have too much trouble picking him up. Heā€™s like a Dhalsim that can actually do combos. Looks like a beautiful thing to me.

And Iā€™m totally with you about focusing on learning PW day/week 1. As a standard 360 pad player Iā€™m going to be switching LT to the ā€œSā€ command to make things like MP+S actually possible.

Iā€™m loving the sound of it. Weā€™ll see if itā€™s actually practical in gameā€¦

As someone with almost 0 Viewtiful Joe experience the only ideas I have for PW and Joe would be Joe using the missile assist for red hot kick unblockables (probably only really helpful if Joe can Dash out of it after it connects and, like I said before, I have no idea how Joe works).
It seems like after a Maya Hyper, a slowed character would probably be unable to do anything before PW could get at the very least 3 attempts at finding good evidence?
Iā€™m also wondering how the missile assist and the Joeā€™s bomb could work together.

Wow, I actually forgot about Red Hot Kick, which is weird because I use it all the time. Having an unblockable with m/h red hot kick+missile would be too goo.d I was more thinking along the lines of Jump S though, as its 3 hits and has higher priority now. But I think both options will be good. Multi hitting high moves make it easier for missile to create the unblockable.

And yeah, that was my reasoning. Not only does Wright recover before Maya (so he has a chance to nab some evidence there) but the slowed character is VERY slow and is like that for a good 10 seconds.

I dont really use V.Joeā€™s bomb, so I have no clue.

I feel like wesker will still be good, so dont think about dropping him just yet. Plus hes admittedly a really badass character haha.

My team is going to be V.Joe/Wright/Frank West. West is mostly for his camera assist, it tracks plus it OTGs and may level Frank up too. So itll be helpful for zoning or combos, for both Wright and V.Joe.

Ah yeah Definitely go with the j.S for some reason that never crossed my mind. Iā€™m curious how the removal of post-airdash blocking will affect Joeā€™s increased priority approach. I guess if timed properly with the missile assist it could become fairly safe against characters with poor air game (Iron Fist comes to mind)

It does affect him, but not as bad because most the time I airdash foward Iā€™m using a normal.
I plan on using Missile for zoning too. Joeā€™s VRangs are actually very solid tools. Frankā€™s Camera will be what I use for characters that take to the skys, while Missile will be for lockdown or ground based approaches. My team is built with both zoning and rushdown in mind

Will Phoenix Wright be better on point to gather evidence asap and then switch him to wait for the level 3 x factor?

I think Wright works better in the second slot to take advantage of his assist and also a good DHC to Maya super will at least give you time for 2 evidences and the last evidence should not be hard to pick afterwards

one thing to think of is that he really doesnā€™t have many options to deal with mixups as he comes in. If heā€™s good and not put first, youā€™re going to see a ton of tactics developed for the other phoenix, but more effective 'cuz he canā€™t airdash or teleport.

Ghost Rider: ā€œDo you have any idea how many lawyers are in hell?ā€

LOOOL Ghost Rider definitely has the best quotes in the entire game
