OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

comprehensive Phoenix Wright gameplay info.

interestingly enough, you can tag Nick out while in Turnabout and the meter won’t deplete… what would that mean for his assists, then?

You know Im on SRK too much when I thought you meant EX (as in a “EX” special attack) girlfriend:rofl:

Damn it, I just want to work on combos with him already. The way I see it, he’ll have a lot of bnbs to learn Day 1 and then advanced combos will depend on your assists. Bnbs for his throw in the corner, midscreen investigation and courtroom combos, a bnb to go from investigation into courtroom stance, etc. The only stance changing character similar to him in Vanilla is Ammy and pressing :d::d:+:atk: during a combo takes a bit of practice.

EDIT: I wonder how XFCing will work with Maya, it seems highly unlikely that she would just disappear off the screen but at the same time, it seems that the only reason to XFC during a combo would be during her slide or after the Judge hyper. Maybe you can use her slide and XFC into a jumping attack for a one time shot at a unblockable?

Honestly, if he’s broken or shit, he’s not exactly easy to pickup and play. So it’s gonna take a while.

He has 2 paper tosses actually. One is 236, one is 214. Covers different spaces (one throws from bottom, one from top). Forgot which was which.

Some of the new info I had was posted (like about stance change into hammer otg).

A psyche lock move was considered, but it was felt that it would slow down gameplay (info from the panel).

Wright’s looking like a shit battery so far. If there’s better combos, that would help that obviously though. Shame cause I think he’s best on point with all the backup. Though if you see a really bad matchup and better ones on the rest of the team. Then again what is orthodox with this character :P.

If I get to play much next time, I think I’ll try to write down what evidence is what. That’s going to be important I think for people to realize when he’s zoning in court mode.

Normals seem to have better priority than expected. Not sure of the verdict though.

there are about 5 pieces of good evidence so far, more or less: flower vase, photograph, autopsy report, knife, and cell phone.

Photograph- shoots five clustered beams that travel forward.
Cellphone- Dante’s Multi-Lock. orbs appear for a while then quickly track the opponent.
Knife- three beams that spread out, forward.

unsure about the flower vase and the autopsy report. I’ll have to watch more footage to see.

edit: Flower Vase- beam that travels in an upward arc, doesn’t track the opponent.
Autopsy Report- ?
Watch- ?

Bad evidence:

  • Wine bottle
  • Servbot
  • Sunglasses (probably Wesker’s)
  • Plunger
  • Steel Samurai figure (win!)

Meat is used automatically and heals red health. Seth says there’s around 10 to 15 kinds of evidence with different properties.

Evidence find can be linked together, so if luck is on your side, you can most likely find all three pieces in under a second or so.

…Full screen supers to kill assists?

I really hope those of you who are considering him nigh-broken aren’t basing this on the NYCC Tourney Footage. A bunch of the people playing there were pretty bad/new at the game…

That’s too bad. I’d have liked a Psych Lock command throw or something.

I also doubt Wright wants to do *any fighting *until he gets those pieces of evidence. Battery or not, he’s gonna be playing a bit of defense, I think.

Though the combo potential of Turnabout Mode looks pretty good. The fact that he can cancel his dash into a jump means Finger of Doom combos anywhere (like Hulk with a Wallbounce assist)…

Lol Not at all … just going to watch it pan out.

So after managing to figure out Nova’s health which is 900, I decided to take a crack at figuring out Wright’s health as well, since I am in love with both characters and I was very curious. Assuming theres no Magic Pixel bullshit in this game, I have come up with 950 health. heres my breakdown with images:

[details=Spoiler]

Full health wright, nothing to see really.

Wright’s health after taking 4 jumping gunshots from Wesker. none of them combo’d, there was no chip before any of this, and unless they changed the damage on his gun, each shot does 80, so Wright lost 320 health in this image.

I traced the damage to my best ability in photoshop, and then multiplied the pink box until I got to the end of wright’s healthbar. 320 X 3 = 960, but since no character has a weird number of health like that, we can assume he has 950.[/details]

I’d assume that his assists get the same buffs as the specials are on point…

<ignore>Holy shit. look at :21 in the first vid. Phoenix can airdash?!</>

@1:33 in the second vid. Confirmed: Wright’s crouching finger does not hit low.

Edit: My brain must not have been working last night. Blocking something while crouching doesn’t actually tell anything. sigh

That wasn’t an airdash, that was just the effect of the paper ripping in the background making it look like he dashed straight forward instead of the super jump arch he did.

No, that’s just his super-jump, Dazed.

I only saw a super jump

I’m a moron.

I thought it was an airdash b/c it looked like Wright suddenly moved a couple of inches right…

I’m still right about the finger though! Looks like there’s little reason to guard low while Wright is at an distance in Turnabout mode.

I think Maya’s shield has durability of sorts. in the second video, you can see Sentinel in XF3 kick her away (poor girl). from there, I’d assume it would take some time for her to recover before being called again.

edit: regarding what happens when Maya is pushblocked during her hissy fit super, Phoenix IS NOT affected. he’s not pushed back. you can basically throw out the super and wavedash up to your opponent for mixups or whatever.

My take on Wright is that he will be a threat in the metagame, possibly even a serious threat, but certainly in the upper half. Above average health (around 950k), a good assist, good damage, and arguably the best level 3 in the game. He’s got a lot going on for him. You pair him with a good lock down assist like Doom Missiles and he can really dig for evidence. Wright is going to be another character like Dark P. or Tron (Fire) in the sense that players will have to change up their game when attempting to deal with him.

He actually has a tiny of health bar left past the 960k mark so if we are lucky he might actually have 1 million health.
This means that he will be more durable than a giant robot, a god level powered being from the chaos dimension and an immortal superhero amongst others.

phoenix wright is the best character in the game.
