i actually think wright is going to be borderline broken in UMvC3. his pointy finger is amazing, and doesnt the air version cause ground bounce when it hits? hello 3/4 screen instant overheads! as well as it covering really good areas of the screen. people are gonna need a relentless offence to stop wright getting his evidence with maya shield+assist. since wright needs less than 1 sec per piece of evidence i reckon the opp is basically gonna have to rely on you being extremely unlucky with evidence.
i think i may have to put time in training mode learning how to BEAT maya shield +assist myself because there is gonna be a LOT of people using it. plus once you land objection you can just chill out and wait for the opp to press a button and just level 3 them on reaction.
i have a feeling i will feel extremely dirty using phoenix wright. may as well throw regular phoenix on the team as well ha ha.
one thing I thought of, unless he combos immediately (and barring low assists for unblockable setups) it looks REALLY easy to wait out turnabout mode, if you can just resist pressing buttons.
Giant fingers are long and do chip, but they’re not that fast coming out, and he still has that godawful mobility. I presume you can push the finger?
I am kind of worried about stupid-good Wright now. Of course, this could change in the final game (though doesn’t Maximilian already have the final copy?). I really feel like Wright should
Lose his evidence if an Objection! is blocked/whiffed.
Have to hit multiple Objections in a row to go into Turnabout mode. (I mean, in the games, you don’t just catch the witness in a lie once in order to win a case. You have to catch multiple lies.)
But this is assuming that he is going to be stupid-good. Need to see some high-level, post-release play, first.
Gragh, Nick is getting dirtier and dirtier but I still want a piece. I can’t say no, at the very least I know that PW has no reincarnation lols. Meat seems pretty low in appearing and as long as the opponent isn’t a fool, he can wait out the turnabout phase. When I think out it though, I always say the same about Haggar’s pipe only to get bunked. So if you really want to kill him, just hyper chip him to death and that’s that. Man, Nick is both scaring me and giving me goosebumps.
Wright’s biggest problem so far is what he can/cant do 1v1 against a jump blocking opponent. You can only get a air throw oh so many times before they catch on and start teching. In Turnabout mode, you can keep chipping them with fingers until you get a hit or they try to counter and you activate your lvl3. We really need to see what he can and cant do after an air throw. If he can combo after it (even if he has to be in a different mode than TA) then I can assume he’s going do fine in this game.
I love how stuff I’ve confirmed from watching videos are being officially confirmed by Seth8-)
What are you talking about? Capcom is great at doing whacky and weird stuff. I think they should do more whacky and weird just like real japanese developers instead of pandering to the ‘srsface’ mobs. Every time they try it the results are lovely. Just look at our delicious lawyer.
I usually don’t like to use dirty characters. But in this case, I don’t care if Wright ends up being the most filthy character in the game. I’m fucking maining the shit out of him.
why, because he doesn’t wear a trenchcoat, doesn’t have guns or a sword nor does he brood like a mofo? lol. Nick to me is another meta-character in the making, like Phoenix, where he’ll force you to change the way you play. Turnabout Mode is extremely dangerous and if you’re a low health character, which majority of the top tier is composed of, do not let Nick get his evidence otherwise one confirm into lvl 3 and you’re dead.
Even if he is broken, he isn’t dumb broken. Like Wolverine in vanilla for example. PW actually looks like it takes him alot of work to set his game up (EX, Having to look for evidence, the risk of good evidence vs bad evidence while trying to pick the mode and hyper you want from the judges hammer to maya.) And while all of this is happen your being attacked by teleporting and crazy reved up zoning in UMvC3. Even if some of the stuff he has like his turnabout mode make him broken, it is going to take some work setting all of it up and he won’t be some simple character that can be picked up in 5 minutes. I’m going to try to main Wright myself (Way before his trailers and stuff came out) And I’m going to work on finding two good assists that help him keep people out so he can find evidence needed and one to help possible combo potential. I agree with Seth that Phoenix looks to be a pretty good starting character, but it wouldn’t suprise me to see people find the evidence needed and then switch him out for the Level 3 X-factor + Turnabout mode for the sheer chaos of DARK PHOENIX WRIGHT. But we’ll see.
OBJECTION! Getting Good Evidence even while tossing bad evidence can be done in less than 3 seconds. And Keeping people out looks pretty damn easy as long as you spam Maya and have a good assist. the ONLY weakness I see in his game atm is keeping out teleporters.
Poor Phoenix Wright fans having to wait until this version for their character, he would have loved fully invincible Haggar covering the areas Maya can’t.
Speaking of his projectiles, someone outta test the durability on those beams in Courtroom Mode… (the evidence pieces themselves probably suck, but he DOES toss them pretty high)
