OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

throw is hard knockdown and you can combo after it in the corner (at 12:31):

edit: ^S-Kill’s PW breakdown. most comprehensive one to date as it goes through pretty much every special, super, and the properties of each of his stances. should go up in the OP imo.

“Hold It!” looks like a command normal to me, :f:+:h: I believe, and it will randomly put the opponent into stun state. good range (similar to Haggar’s pipe), but doesn’t seem to do anything other than cause hitstun. it turns into “Objection!” when you have all pieces of evidence.

:f:+:m: is the overhead attack, causes PW to trip on a banana peel. puts him into an air state it seems, and you can apparently combo off it by linking into his launcher + assist.

finding the right evidence seems to happen more than finding bad ones. it doesn’t take too long to search for them either.

If anyone is going to get to play him at NYCC or something, can you test to see if Maya’s hissy fit hyper stays on screen if you DHC out of it, like Trish’s spinning blade hyper or Hyper Sentinel Force? If it does, that’d be a great way to DHC into Hsien-ko’s Hyper Armor. And also check for certain if any of his assists have and invincibility on them.

Also, here’s to hoping he gets a Redd White color w/ April May colors for Maya. Phoenix Wright needs some pink :wink2:

You can raw tag during the hissy fit hyper so she’ll probably stay on the screen if you DHC, like Tron’s King Kobun.

As for the colors, does anyone have any pics of the Godot and Sissel alts?

So, land some combos and gather evidence after knockdowns if you can’t cover Maya with assists. Nobody should be picking up evidence without making sure the opponent can’t hit them first, I think that’s one thing that PW players will learn quickly.

You can’t use Maya moves in courtroom mode though :frowning:

In evidence mode he is basically Hsein-ko’s zoning game with a MODOK shield and an extra She-hulk slide assist up his sleeve. In courtroom mode he’s Arthur with a good OTG super. Sadly you’re going to have to pick between one or the other unless you’re a beast with switching between modes to call out maya, then quickly switch back to courtroom.

:open_mouth: no kidding? where’d you hear this? PW with bleach blonde hair, sunglasses and a bitchin’ red suit = best alt in the game imho.

I really hope that strategy of yours works as easy regardless of the long and slow animation he has.

Now that I think about it, how the hell did Seth do that 1.2kk combo with 4 bars and no XF? We’ll probably be able to combo after hissy fit in the corner. Hopefully it won’t be Turnabout-only.

you do realise that all of his gathering evidence animations (and all of his normal animations in general) have very early cancel times?

Seth was able to gather 3 sets of good evidence in 1 second just spamming the evidence move. It comes out faster than Dormammu’s powerup hands and can cancel into itself and other moves. His other moves can all be movement cancelled after the first few frames. You only get the ‘funny’ animations if you don’t do anything.

If Dormammu and Iron Fist can find time to power up without getting punished I’m sure Phoenix will too. You also get plenty of evidence time after landing Maya hissy fit hyper.

As for the 1.2k combo, I think it’ll be like this: with full evidence, magic series into Maya attack super, combo into aerial objection, combo into aerial ground bounce finger, combo into wall finger wall finger wall finger wall finger lv 3

I’m heard about them in the general thread. They didn’t give any specifics so I got really curious as to how would Godot’s color scheme translate into Nick.

Yes but according to you, i can’t just search for evidence unless i’ve knocked them down and to mention that it is random to get good evidence. I did see the Seth video but the opponent was just standing there so i don’t know how safe that is yet against aggressive and fast opponents.

This is still just like…the best thing. I don’t know when I’m going to get over this, if ever.

yeah the randomness is an issue, but you can fill up 3 bars of evidence after a knockdown, maya super or assist pressure easily enough. If you get 3 sets of bad evidence, just run away and throw them out (3 anti-air projectiles) until you get some good evidence and then either continue trying to get a full set or just work with what tools you have in courtroom stance. I don’t think gathering evidence is going to be much of an issue since you’ll most likely be able to just tack it on after a basic B&B combo in relative safety.

I think we will be seeing PW flowcharts in the near future, oh yes. In fact I might go sketch up a theoretical flowchart right now.

It doesnt seem like it matters to much though.

As soon as he gets to turnabout mode, he can pretty much fingerpoke/level 3 any character to death in one combo

right, so getting TO turnabout mode is the important thing here, and then getting a hit off it.

people shouldn’t be worrying too about safety of the evidence gathering. any hard knockdown, be it by throw or flying screen S, gives you a couple of in-game seconds to gather 3 pieces of evidence just like that. you can even have lockdown assists to force your opponent to block (Dante and Ammy immediately come to mind) while you gather evidence. it’s when you’re fighting characters like Strange and Vergil who have godlike teleports you should start worrying. his defense and zoning isn’t too good. Wright will likely have a relatively fair matchup against a good number of the cast imo, just as long as they don’t have tracking teleports to screw you over at the start of the match.

edit-- off the bat, characters to be worried about: Dante, Vergil, Wesker, Doctor Strange, Phoenix, Strider, and Doom. PW may be easy enough to zone out and open up into a combo with these characters. it’s a race to turnabout mode with these characters. if PW gets to turnabout, you HAVE to avoid getting hit otherwise, dead character. AND you won’t even need to burn X-Factor.

The person who was commentating yesterday said he has these alts. There’s no actual footage of them unfortunately, just the commentator’s word.

I guess you’re right. I think teleporters can be controlled with AAA’s, but the in the end i still see him having bad matches against X-23’s hop and teleporters. The biggest threat should be Strange because he can just throw out reflector specials, you won’t be able to get close to him due to the slow dash speed and slow normals (and what happens if Strange has Strider’s Vajira and hidden missiles as assists?). I can’t think of other options… if you try to call Maya to atleast pick up something, strange can just throw out a super.

yeah I can see him having a hard time Vs Strange and surprisingly Hsein-ko, who looks like she can reflect a good portion of his projectiles with gongs and happily dash through his shield.

I don’t know if we can really call Wright’s normals slow yet. A lot of them actually look very fast to me, they just have a severe lack of range outside of that sneeze.

Mind you, Strange’s reflector super only goes horizontal. I wonder if Maya will be able to block that too? Ironically I think the book is more dangerous.

WHAT! WHERE! I WANNA SEE!
If this is true I hope that the missile assist on Yomei (Sissel) Wright changes into the Missile from ghost trick as I do remember Seth Killian talking about dog alternates, though I thought he just meant colours.
