OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

I have a feeling Zero will be a big problem for PW

Right, but that’s the bad evidence. There’s no reason to throw away good evidence other than a quick and easy projectile I guess, but you can anyway.

Also, it makes me sad that a lot of the evidence presentations in Court stance do a decent amount of damage and cover a lot of screen space, yet seem to come out almost as fast as some of Arthur’s projectiles.

Tutorial of PW and Nova starts from 19 min and ends at about 50…

(How long until someone youtubes this?)

The reason you’d want to throw good evidence is in case you wanted a certain combo of evidence for courtroom mode. When in courtroom mode his projectiles change based on the 3 evidence you have. Some players might just want to play full keepaway using a certain combination of projectiles, so they’d throw away any evidence that doesn’t give them the spread they desire.

Of course most of the time I doubt anyone will care what evidence he gets, they’ll just want to whack out the objection and start kicking ass, but it might not be the smartest thing to do. You’ll probably want to play lame for a bit until you can combo into an objection.

he will, like vergil and most rushdown characters that have bigger hitboxes than him

Two things:

>I have yet to see anyone combo into, or out of an ‘Objection!’. S-Kill couldn’t do it after (presumably) L, M. The move has some startup, so I think an assist may be needed there…

>Speaking of Vergil, don’t teleport characters essentially make Maya irrelevant?

teleports are punishable and predictable and if you throw out Maya you know your opponent is going to want to teleport. Stop gathering evidence and mash A accordingly.

It seems to block damage from both sides.

Problem is, if they’re not doing anything, or are doing something that can be TP-canceled, they can probably teleport when they see you duck and at the very least be safe. Especially if you’re using Maya as a zoning shield.

Edit: and you’re probably not gonna have time to summon her, run up so you’re inside the shield, and then duck. It doesn’t last THAT long.

You’ve seen how fast you can cancel out of the evidence move though. Unless the opponent predicts, by the time you use evidence gathering 1 and they teleport you’ll most likely already be able to cancel out of it. And what’s to stop you from having an assist out? Besides, you shouldn’t be gathering evidence raw anyway, see my earlier post.

The specific focus of the question is maya’s shield, which teleports do make largely irrelevant.

I don’t think they make it irrelevant at all. If you have the shield out that automatically limits several of your opponent’s options. They can’t wavedash up to you, nor can they attack with any direct, ground-based projectile or rush. They’re forced to either teleport past it, or jump and use an attack, both of which are going to require a commitment on their part.

Let people teleport right into Hsien Ko’s Gold Armor swinging. I don’t give one single fuck.

^ right. You’ll want to back up maya shield with something like Hsein ko assist, Shuma beam or Cold star to discourage teleporters (on top of Wright having nice cancel times off evidence gather)

But not as many as Nemesis.

For now…

Anyway, I missed the stream. I’m guessing his Lv.3 can only be done when he’s on the ground?

Speaking of his Lv.3, I love how instead of getting KO’d, the opponent just slumps over in humiliation and shame.

What the hell is his launcher? Is he sneezing?

So yeah. My questions weren’t constructive at all. But I’ll read up on him and probably have some legit questions tomorrow. Give it some time to settle.

he might just have a terrible terrible launcher.

At least it can hit people in the air.

Thing is, good and bad evidence changes from match to match. You can’t depend on three specific pieces of evidence to use, you have to roll with what you have.

yeah I realize that. it was late and my head was pounding. I’m a fraud, sorry everyone. lol

Yes!

Also, his sneeze is looking a little iffy to me. Seth was whiffing on Firebrand all over the place, so we’ll see.
