Oakland 3s, SSFIV, MvC2 and much more

Hi, I’m a regular at EU scene.

Aside from the NORCAL Install event (which is actually dustloop/IPW’s event, not dkl), our weekly sessions are purely casual (though we do have players training up to become competitive). Right now, we’re in a state of transition from using the xbox setups provided by EU (which charges an hourly rate), to bringing our own setups and paying a much cheaper venue fee. The $3 fee isn’t a ‘buy-in’, it’s to cover using EU’s space and outlets. :bgrin:

SSF4/BBCS is the game most of the regulars want to play, but we’ve been getting requests to also run MVC2, and 3S was well-received at our previous session and we’re looking into making 3s a permanent part of the rotation. I personally missed out on CVS2 and would like to give that a try, I’m also keenly interested in Melty Blood too. But we have to acquire a few setups before we can do anything, heh.

Just thought I chime in a clarify :chat:

Oh, god no; we welcome players of ALL SKILLS and of all fighting games (but we need a primary setup for SUPER, of which I’m trying to take care of right now).

The “buy-in” is primarily used for payment towards renting the space (I don’t think there’s a place in the Bay Area that will charge you this cheap for such a large amount of space); there are no cash prizes and whatnot and we just wanna sit around all day and have fun (which has been happening for the last several weeks, but the $16 day passes are pretty expensive and it’s hard to get casual players to latch on… at $3 for [supposedly] the entire day, it’s easier to catch random walk-ins, which is what I’m trying to do).

We did have a $2 money match at one point, but it was primarily for the lawlz and ROFLs.

ALSO, I seriously want to play 3rd Strike in tandem with SUPER…

Even if you can only make it until after 6, this means that I get to play 3rd Strike for like 4 hours and I’m down with that.

We primarily need TVs though and I’m not sure if you have enough of those…

IN ANY CASE, feel free to scope out the scene in the next few weeks and see what it’s like.

My only difficulty is the time you guys meet up at… I work from 10AM-6PM ([SHAMELESS PROMOTION WARNING] at Dr. Comics and Mr. Games on Piedmont Ave. in Oakland [/SHAMELESS PROMOTION WARNING]), so I’d only be able to attend the tail end of the gatherings as it would take me at least an hour to go to my house, get my equipment and head to Berkeley (I live near the Montclair/Piedmont/Oakland boarder)…

That being said, if something was able to get started on Sundays, generally speaking my Sundays are wide open and I’d have my equipment available for more than a couple hours.

We’ve established Saturdays, but I don’t know if enough people are free on Sundays…

We were thinking of doing it on both days at one point, actually…

But, I think it’s primarily Saturday right now mainly because I show up guaranteed on Saturday, so there’s always someone to play with…

THAT SAID, let’s ask regulars if they’re free on SUNDAYS (might be hard, however, since it’s generally before a school/work week)

THAT SAID, EU is actually open until 1 am and you can continue with the epic long after I leave on Saturdays; a lot of gaming can get done from 7pm-1am.

i have a box now that i can bring also a small tv if that helps add me up on da box lets get this crackn

If you’re interested in contributing your setup to our Eudemonia sessions, post up on our thread. We’re planning to reboot our session structure on the 4th (flat venue fee, bring our own setups, etc)
