ok i am in class, but here is a pending list of the things I need to switch up on the Character Improvement Chart.
Umm how do i change the title of an existing thread? lol
Edit first page to include new rules (splitting ranks into multiple groups to allow more challenges, adjusting the matches needed to play{FT10+win by 2 etc}
Posting a pic of the current ranks
adding a list of challenges so people are aware of who is challenging who.
If i missed anything, please feel free to make more suggestions or remind me on this thread.
Im glad most people are seeing this as just a way to play more people in our community and get to know others. Its really not ment for bragging rights (although that is an incentive to play harder) its not gonna be some end all be all ranking of NW.
You dont have to participate, but i promise you…when the bugs get stamped out…I see everyone getting into this. If not, u are just gonna miss out on a new fun NW event…its just like Tournament Wars, but u dont have to use money. hehe actually iv never seen so many people bitch about an event that cost no money. Its like…seattle kats bitch about 10 dollar tourney, now they bitch about a free event i mean lol…Seattle really is a depressed assed city lol. We need to squash that bullshit.
Cole: To change the title of a thread you started, go to your first post, click “Edit Post”, then “Go Advanced”. You can edit or change the title there.
IMO you should have Zach close the thread and start a new one. If someone has constructive criticism for the event they can post their disagreement, otherwise keep it out of the topic.
Deezo - You are reading into this wrong and reading what im trying to say wrong. Im not angry at all…what on earth made you think that? I will call u as well, I said id call mechanica and mickey to talk to them about it cause they were the first to speak up. Mickey I couldnt get a hold of but mechanica talked to me. You were not in the mix but ill give you the same respects as well and would much rather talk to u personally.
The thing i was just trying to get across is that nobody is forcing you to do anything. Once again the ranking number means NOTHING, but u are still trying to use that as a base of your argument. fuck the number of rank, who gives a fuck its just a reason to get people to play. Im HELLA happy that you took my idea and made it something personal for u by creating your own list to challenge. THAT IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUt. But dont go crap on my idea, i mean maybe people read your post wrong or i did, but You could of been like “Challenge system is not for me but ill have my own challenge list, good luck to everyone leveling up” or be like “i dont dig the challenge, i prob wont participate but here some ideas that might make it more appealing”
I mean the only thing im getting at is, why cant people just be supportive of the things NW tries to do. I mean Frank started Tournament Wars, I didnt see anyone bitching at him and talkin smack about it. No we all discussed it and here we are today. So its like, the only reason people are pointing the finger (although we shouldnt) at u and mickey, is because of the energy from the post. The post just comes across as u guys thinking 1) im forcing people to play 2) these rankings mean something 3) That im angry cause u wont play in my event. All that shit is so fuckin false, and i think thats all people are trying to get across to u and mickey. Is like, fuck man we are so fuckin tired of drama…cant we all just be cool act like a family and be supportive for anything our scene tries to do in order to improve it. I mean i dont care if u dont enter the ranking gig…its just a way to help our community.
I mean dont u remember when I was first talking about the dojo Deezo, and I was saying i had all kind of different events I wanna “test” in order to help everyone improve on our game. I mean all you guys were so all about it, its just strange to see u guys take this the wrong way then have some standing on why u wanna do things your way and u shouldnt have to be froced into something. Man nobody forcing u to do nothing…lets end this bickering its so unprofessional. I also will not have any more crazy posts like this. Please call me if u have anything non constructive to say about it. Otherwise lets work together to turn this into something that works for us. If it doesnt work then im gonna drop kick this event and start something that will help us.
Bottom line here Mickey and Deezo, im sorry i came across in a bad away or if u misunderstood my intentions. You know me, u know what i am about you know my passion. You guys should never really have to question what im doing…but if u do…man call me. Id LOVE to talk with u guys all night about what i can do different or what we all need to do to improve our scene. Cause I know for a FACT that you both are very passionate about building up this scene and bringing it back to the days of Marvel where Seattle dominated and was completely united!
We NEED to get united! We can NOT let our scene get destroyed from within. We are way stronger than that.
Once again Deezo, I apologize for not giving you a call and really hearing what you had to say. Now that I re-read some things, I know i misunderstood how u are coming as well as i feel u kind of misunderstood what this event is really trying to be about. Ill give you a call after class my friend.
Cole said he wouldn’t read any other shit, but this is to give insight to others as well as himself if he’s willing to read it. I didn’t spend an hour on writing something that isn’t going to be seen or heard.
I?ve never once ever doubted the fact that it?s ?our? responsibility as top players to help out our community ?for the greater good.? Can you really say that I have? I?m 100% positive that I?ve helped out a good majority in Seattle in some form or fashion, whether that be through answering questions or giving tips to those who asked for it, or by pushing them through other unorthodox methods like acting like a prick to people to force them to beat me to shut me up.
Now I will admit, though my methods may be far different than others that ?level up? the community, can you REALLY say that I?ve not done my part? Random people tell me all the time that I?ve leveled their game up from my videos or blog entries or posts in SRK?I have 1 to 1 sessions with people in our scene to level their game up and push themselves?there are even rare times where I?ll gain everyone?s attention to focus on a ?lesson? I had cooped up?I ran a fucking website dedicated to Seattle?s fighting game scene paying out of my pocket on a monthly basis to give us a place where we could gain assemble as a COMMUNITY.
Now whether the level was raised or not, or whether the website did it?s job or not, one thing is for sure?I make a GIGANTIC effort to push the community from not just a local scale, but to a national level. Don’t make assumptions just because you haven’t personally SEEN what I do to help. Yet how you worded this statement, it?s as if you accuse me of turning my back on the community so to speak, accusing me of being selfish of all things now?
Cole, this was very clearly stated to you not only over the internet, but in person when Mandel and I talked to you on the phone last year in regards to the 5v5 team…that I can’t focus on the community before I can focus and improve on myself. At the time, you were all for it and completely nurtured that train of thought…but now it changes? And what for? Because it’s my “duty to give back?” Because I need to become “a family” with the people in my scene? I think not, it’s because you took my post as “shitting” on your system. Let me clarify:
First and foremost, is me…period. Done and done. I don’t care if the scene is “larger than you or me” nor do I question it. I care about MY ability to improve and become better before I care about the scene and it’s affairs. This doesn’t mean that I’m turning my back on my scene…it means that I’m getting my self up to gear so that I can do what needs to be done…for me AND MY SCENE.
With that, here’s something you should know Cole, The Dojo is NOT Seattle. And as much as you’d like to say that you never said this, the sheer fact that you accuse me and Mandel about “being selfish for not giving back” and that, we’re not seeing “the bigger picture” it sure does make it seem like what you say is law in the city of Seattle…and just because we don’t agree completely with this system, or we have reserved opinions about it, all of a sudden WE’RE enemy of the state (or rather Seattle’s scene) and we’re shitting on the community now? So now, the dojo = Seattle or rather “the NW” as you say? A bit arrogant to say that isn’t it?
I stated in my previous post that I wasn’t going to challenge anyone unless I knew that it would benefit ME. With that said, I also encouraged other people to challenge me if they thought it would push them…that offer still stands. From the get go, I’ve been accused of “shitting” on the system for saying these things and “not giving constructive criticism” yet all I said that I was going to participate in this system the way that I wanted to…
You’ve shown a fairly different color than the Cole that I knew. Personally, I would have thought that you understood Mandel and my intentions/sentiments towards the system much better then you’ve shown. We’re not attacking you, we’re not shitting on your system and we’re not turning our back on the scene…you know us better than that, so don’t put us on blast like that dude. The mentality that you’ve been showing ain’t cool man…and I’d even go as far as to say it’s been closed minded. I’d love to talk to you about it over the phone, and maybe it’d be best to hold a conference call with me and Mandel to better express my thoughts and feelings.
Regarding the most current post, I never once questioned your intentions, but YOU QUESTIONED MINE dude. I’m ALL FOR people playing and pushing themselves for those that don’t know how to. But that’s not in question Cole, what’s in question is the fact that you equate ME saying “I might not participate very much” as “Fuck Cole and his system, that shit’s bad for the community.” I merely expressed how I was going to handle it.
I’m not a fan of bickering either, but you gotta understand that you took what I said as “pointing fingers” and replied by putting more fingers at me. With that, you’ve also said a lot of things that can’t really be shrugged off so easily such as calling me selfish and accusing me of shitting on the community.
The ranking system is fun for some and serious for others.
It’s just like all the tournaments in our area, none of them matter. The only tournament that really matters is Evo. All of our tournaments, events, and sessions are merely practice for the bigger event (Evo).
People can choose to use the ranking system as a way to see where they stand amongst their peers in the scene, but also a way to keep track of their improvement. Other’s will merely use it to play more, play to have fun, learn that match-up experience prior to Evo.
Do what you want, no one is going to be subject to come out losing sleep, money, or time from their daily lives that they don’t want to. No one is holding a gun to your head, so don’t pretend it is as such. If you don’t care about the ranking system, then you don’t care, nothing will change your perspective on that but your own free-will.
At the end of the day it’s Your Choice, and whether you choose to play at home online/by yourself/with friends, Go to GameWorks and arcade it up, or choose to go elsewhere to feed your need for Street fighter/competition… It’s YOUR CHOICE, no one will be affected in a negative way for going or not going to the Dojo or playing anywhere else.
Good luck arguing over something so trivial as the semantics of the Seattle Scene. The Seattle scene looks worse and worse and will more than likely be divided up by the Divas of the NorthWest rather brought together by the hungry of the NorthWest.
Like Mickey stated, the Dojo isn’t the end all or is the only place to play at, and as of late it really seems like that’s what is going on. The only person that plays Tekken and still comes to TW’s is Robert. What happened to the sessions at Tanaka’s place? Or the freedom bunker? We don’t even get a chance to try and send invites because we get bombarded about the dojo.
We should’ve seen that this was going to happen, it’s like the 5v5 all over again. Claws are coming out and for what reason? There is no reason. Do you even know why Mickey and Mandel are going the path they are going? Because there are individuals in our scene that are expecting them to make it out of pools this year. I can totally see where they are coming from. They see it happening to me, I catered to the scene with TW’s and to keep our scene alive, but at the cost of me focusing on myself. It’s go time as everyone has said and honestly no one should be tryin to diss on anyone about their methods to get ready for the big show. Do you however you want, and that’s it. I tried to get this thread back on track once. Let’s try that shit again.
first post changed with new rules. Give feed back. Mickey I apologize to u as well. I havent read the post but i will and will give u a call. I dont want anymore drama, we gotta be constructive u know.
Jared…I like the chip bag addition to the seth av…I’ve been meaning to say that the past few days
second
wtf seattle…this is weak
the dojo is tight for one main reason it gives an open outlet to serious non casual play on a broad spectrum of people. If you don’t wanna participate…good for you…no one is shedding a tear…you may be missed but eveyone is easily replaced…there is always someone better…lets lvl up…we got 3 months…
you don’t like it…oh well…coles call…he’s takin input because he cares
Frank is the same way with twars ultimately he calls what happens…the more shit we have goin the better…just enjoy it…and do work
If you’re gonna say something than call it like it is buddy, why be coy with it and say it out the side of your mouth? Call it like it is and say it to me directly. And if you’re not targeting me, then say that then, but I took it as such due to our recent past.
Alright, I wasn’t targeting anyone in my post directly, because there have been multiple people to say something negative here and there and post different insights, which is why I didn’t directly specify the post being directed at someone.
If you’d like me to, I can do it like this: Mickey, you’re an arrogant prick who pretends you’re the most important person in the scene. Your attitude is nothing positive, hell I don’t even like hanging out with you in public because you complain about shit left and right. You can’t even wait for a table at Beth’s without being a rude piece of shit. Honestly, you’ve done NOTHING on your own to further the scene outside of start a website that simply produces an article here or there which has had very few occurrences that have been worth more than SRK’s front page.
I’ll say it in person if you’d like, but I was really trying to squash the beef we have had previously by inviting you out this Friday. If you still want to come, by all means, it’s a free country, but please believe I will say this same shit to your face if you continue to act like a fucking prick.
I think he just means everyone involved in the topic, not pointed at anyone directly. Everyone in this topic is reading too much into every post, and making assumptions.
Mickey came across in a way he didn’t mean to (to Cole, at least). It happens. A lot with sir baltazar, actually.
So did I and so did Cole though. I don’t think Cole means to give the impression he’s trying to monopolize the seattle area - I thought it was obvious he’s just really excited about having the dojo up. He’s had this thing in the works for a long time now so he’s just stoked and is trying to get people hype for it. Perhaps it is a good reminder for him to hear that it’s not THE seattle location, though. It’s obviously going to become a great opportunity for a main beacon for practice in the area, but if someone wants to host their own thing, hopefully the dojo’s plans won’t step on anyone’s toes.
And I think Mickey and I were a little grossed out at the way things started with the ranking starting from the tournament ranking for the test night. We weren’t trying to shit on the entire idea, it just started out rocky and was unappealing that players had lost their hard-earned spots. I think it could’ve been avoided had it been more deliberately labeled as a separate entity.
Lastly, in the same vein of things lost in translation via internet, Jared your post was… unnecessary. Everything you said in the post had been said previously and is already understood. The other parts are just insults. Y’all are drama queens, the NW is going to split like the red sea - no one wants to hear that. You’re really just encouraging the “drama” and misunderstanding by chiming in and telling everyone they’re drama queens. Long story short, they’re not trying to argue about the semantics of the scene, they’re just trying to make sure they are communicating correctly and getting their thoughts into the right words. There’s nothing wrong with that. Yes it got a little dramatic or hostile, oh well. The way you chimed in there does not help the situation is what I’m trying to say.
EDIT: Oh. Cool. This is also necessary. It’s also the appropriate topic for it. I tried to offer a constructive viewpoint of what I think people are trying to say, and here comes a post which directs the topic in the opposite way.
Yes, I very much would like to talk with both of you on the phone. Cause there is a tremendous amount of misunderstanding. You are right to preach on how I responded to you Mickey. I posted to hastely after things started to escalate. I never try to push that the Dojo is the new Seattle, This is why i accepted your suggestion on changing the name. Cause it gave that impression, i changed that immediately. Also, there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a little “me” time. Everyone needs it, I also know your situation so its very valid for you to be taking that stance. Im not mad at you for it and nobody else should. I think what needs to be done is people need to read posts like 4 5 or 6 times lol before posting a reply…at least i do. Once again, sorry for the misunderstanding Mickey. I definitely want to talk to u and mandel cause i feel we all have gotten really disconnected. It went from us always talking and chillin like 24/7 to like…the only time i see u guys is randomly at Tournament Wars, thats not good for peole i consider really good friends.
Lets cease all the back and fourth and get back to what matters most within our community…playing Street Fighter.
How about the Seattle Level Up Tourney? Or the Level Up Character Improvement Dojo event?
Or the Play ASet Together event. So we can apologize & put all this miscommunication behind us? Hopefully we can have people who don’t get along but can still act like adults (welcome to the free world where you don’t enjoy everyone’s company). On the real though there are so many people I’ve never played a proper set with that I would like to. There is a lot to learn from playing sets with people. Even watching sets. I would love to play sets, give advice/suggestions as well as get it; I would also love to watch sets and give advice to either players. Perhaps in between matches or I could wait 'til the end.
Sorta like the homework idea we had, where people would critique each other. If anyone’s interested in anything like that, let me know when we play or if I’m wherever you are playing. I don’t always wanna critique people I’ve played if it’s not asked for 'cause it comes across in an insulting way to some people. I play a lot of characters though and am always down to share knowledge. I try to keep it to simple ideas that can be easily remembered. I’ve noticed people trying to help people improve but just overloading them with tips.
I am all for an awesome acronym for this event. I’ma keep thinking up awesome cheesy ones. Belie’ dat.
EDITO DESU: The Experience Matchups Project?
Ya thank you for that post Mechanica. That is exactly what is going on. Lets all be the bigger man here, apologize (we have no ego) and lets move forward. We all know each other a little better know, we see the passion oozing out of control with no direction. lets get a little direction and support each other. If u have nothing nice to say, just hold it back. We know seattle has a problem of getting emotional…so lets work on not letting that effect our friendship and our drive to improve our game within a community we all know and love.
So, with that…can we get to the feed back on the new rules? lol
Cole
ps - What makes seattle is TourneyWars, Pats, Kieths, Zachs, The Dojo, Deezo monday nights, GameWorks, GameClucks, HeavyDs shit the list keeps going. THATS Seattle. This is our community, i mean look at how much shit we got going. So many places we can go to and play and chill, so many people opening their place up. Dojo is just another on the list. Seattle needs spots like this, no 1 place is greater then the other. Think about that for a second, our scene is bad ass, we just gotta get united…AGAIN. Cause right before EVO, we were all fuckin on POINT. You peeps forget our showing at EVO? How JEALOUS people were cause our scene had unity and support. Even fuckin SHIRTS!!!
