Sorry for all the noobish questions but would a PS1 (non Dual shock) PCB work if I were to mod it for a PS3?
So Based on this I got the recommendedadapter from ebay, the guy is a dick wouldnātā answer 3 questions on international shipping i dont care if he is the 2nd highest rated ebay seller, based on the following experience maybe not.
I had them forwarded to me via a mail forwarder, cost me more in shipping than the adapters them selves.
So I got them today, I hooked it up to by Nubytech SFAC and NO GO! DAMN
Why would that be? I got them instead of the INpin due people mentioning they will work.
How are they supposed to work anyhow, how are they assigned a port?
Should they work in the PS3 menu in the XMB? So do they only work when the game is launched? No instructions came with the adapter so I assume plug n play.
I have tried them with the downloaded SF2 HD dont work. Dont have a copy of SFIV yet.
The sticker on the adapter says PIII CONVERTER, Model: 538
^
yes jabz,
Those adapters probably do work on the sfac. Granted you have the SPECIFIC pcb installed in your stick.
So I was able to confirm the pcbs that work with adapters have the 3.5v designation. Look at your pcb where the main chord plugs into it. to the left of the white connector each wire should be labelled. Somewhere it should say 3.5v.
And the color does not matter. I have a green and yellow pcb with the same voltage. They both work.
Loving my Streetfighter anniverary stix !
Hey guys
It took some dedication and one destroyed xbox 360 pcb ! But I was able to make my SFA sticks and stock em with Happ competition stick and buttons. I replaced the plexi glass so I can have 6 button set up. I tried the button plugs and hated it. Now both of these stick are wireless.
The first was the chun li stick. I didnt add back and sinc buttons to that one.
second was the punisher stick. I added start, home, back, and sinc buttons to that one.
I finally got the hang of soldering. Next week My son wil bring me his SFA stick and an xbox 360 wireless controller. Then I will post picks of those. I love these sticks and there is plenty of room to work in the box.

Guess I should read a post of how to put pictures on post !!

Now I am a total noob at this so the xbox 360 pcb was soldered to each contact. I didnt know if it had a common ground or not so each button got two wires. It work flawlessly. Thats all that matters to me.
i have had one of these since the release and i can tell you, it is still my fav stick. I own a Hori ex2 360, Dreamcast agetech, TE 360 and none of them can shine this sticks shoes. I know people like the te for the buttons and the jap style, but i still prefer this over any stick. Not to mention the artwork is dope! Of course i understand people can disagree but its my preference. Nothing but good things for the nubytech.
Awesome, good to know itās just the voltage that determines the incompatibility.
I agree with you. Everyone I know here has requested for me to get them one of these sticks instead of the Madcatz ones.
I have this PIII adapter model 538 from eforcity, and it doesnāt work with the SFAC stick, but my TAC adapter works perfectly. And I got the yellow pcb.
Ok so I went ahead and hacked away at my PSone controller and hereās the result.
We didnāt like the idea of hacking up the original wiring so we wired together a little harness to the PSone PCB and simply plugged it into the SAFC one.

It works 100% lag free with my DX adapter
I have the hairless Zangief:

I tried this:

This converter did not work with my stick and my PS3.
I went to the store today and purchased a wired XBOX 360 controller and I think I may try modding the controller to work on my 360. I had fun modding my Hori EX2 and think this may be a fun project. A little challenging for me being that I donāt really know how to solder very well.
I guess Iāll upgrade the joystick and buttons as well. Anybody order their parts direct from the Happ website? How long are orders from Happ taking to process lately? This is the joystick to get:

And these buttons:

I ordered my parts for my Hori from lizard licks but they are swamped and will not be taking new orders until April.
Yeah I have that exact same adapter and It didnāt work with my SFAC stick. The TAC adapter surprisingly worked with the stick.
I purchased SF4 for the 360 since my Hori EX2 is for that game system. Its not really very important to buy another converter. Iāll likely just stick with the EX2 until I can get the parts to upgrade the Anniversary stick.
As hard as it will likely be for me to solder the 360 controller, I probably should of just purchased a used copy of SF4 for PS3 and tried another converter.
It would be cool to have two 360 sticks so I could play h2h with friends.
How do you go about testing controller input lag? I just got an SE Madcatz stick and it just feels laggy to me. Compared to the D-pad it is noticeably less responsive.
Where did you go to get these lag numbers? Thanks.

Edit:
Found the link to the lag test app after several searches if anyone else was interested:

iāve had this stick for years but never really did much with it, but i really hate the buttons it comes with.
how hard is it to swap out the buttons in this stick?
thank ya!
Ok guys
I have a SFAC: green pcb inside , V1.1 (not 3.5)
it does not work with a generic no name ps2-ps3 converter
i have read these forums over and over and have come to the conclusion that it does NOT work with either the TAC or the dealextreme (HAIs) converter
any ideas on what WILL work ?
thanks in advance guys
note: i have also posted this in the converter compatibility thread by kyle
thanks again
are you sure itās 1.1? check the writing on the PCB along the harness that connects to the cable for the PS2/Xbox plug
I made a post in this thread regarding my ps2-ps3 converter that works with my green PCB board. I also see the V1.1 but may need to check again on the value where the ground connector is.
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=81712&page=11
EDIT: Itās not V1.1ā¦itās 8V.
ok myabe i looked at the wrong thing for voltage
i will open the box up again and look at the cable instead of the pcb for the voltage. It is the 3.5V that works with HAIs right?
thanks for the info adroc but that link looks like a generic ps2ps3 converter. anything special about it that makes it work with SFAC green pcb??
thanks
