Nubytech Street Fighter 15th anniversary stick

It’s a shame since this is my favorite style of stick and I switch out the art and buttons every month. When you have a good one it’s excellent for ps3. I just recently gave an incompatible one away and sold the other one I had. You do have options: hack a pcb there are great options psx, chtulu, axis wireless. Or–these have great resale value, sell yours off, or trade it and get one that works for sure off of eBay or the trading forums.

I have the nubytech stick and I can confirm that it works on the ps3 flawlessly with a HVG2 ps2 to usb converter that I bought from fry’s.

New to SRK. This is a great place. Had no idea such a forum existed. Anyway, just wanna add my 2 cents for those who own the Nubytech anniversary stick.

I own 2 of these sticks, and they are a bit different. The first one, I bought from EB Games in Seattle when it came out. This I modded with HAPP concave buttons and a HAPP competition stick (just my preference having played American arcades here in Canada). It works fine with the dealextreme adapter. No lag, no issues.

The second stick I received recently off ebay, I noticed it was different when I flipped it over. Bigger compartment for the cord, and the cord is 2 feet longer and a bit thinner. I opened it up, and it’s also different. Different PCB, different PCB placement, black on the inside, not using Bao-Lian green microswitches for the joystick. The screws to secure the bottom panel go in deeper as well. Oh, and Zangief has hair. When I plugged this into the same dealextreme adapter, I get the same problem reported here, where the Home button keeps getting engaged. So I try it on my original xbox, and it works fine. Tried it on my PS2, also works fine.

Those who have the stick with the bigger cord compartment (one on the left), have you had any luck with any adapters?

This isn’t a deal-breaker for me, I’ll keep the stick, and get it working one way or another.

Thanks a ton for the pic. I had forgotten about the other PCB. I had the one on the right (now replaced with a 360/PS1 PCB) and it worked fine with adapters.

Could you post another comparison picture of this? It sounds like it’s the only external way of telling which stick you have.

I didn’t take a close-up pic of that, but I’ll definitely do it later when I get home from work. Unless someone beats me to it.

I use this puppy: http://www.made-in-china.com/image/2f0j00vtTECyQJsanTM/PS-PS2-Controller-to-USB-Adapter-JT-0902601-.jpg and it works very well. I haven’t done any official lag tests on it, but my experience with it tells me it does not. It also accepts two PS2 controllers at one time through one usb. I use it with my SFA stick and there are no known issues with it.

Thanks. That should help people when buying a stick used off eBay, etc. It may not be easy to distinguish from a little picture, but it’s at least a question you can ask the seller without having them open it. Should make for an interesting conversation as well:

Hello, I was just wondering if the character Zangief (juiced-up Russian guy) has hair on the art work for the stick that your selling?

My SFA stick has a bald 'Gief. It’s got the Bao-Lian parts inside. I always thought that was a big oversight. Now I’m inclinded to believe that it was intentional.

I don’t believe there is an external visual cue to tell if one pcb will work with adapters or not. Big compartment versus small cord compartment. I just recently had 4 in my possession all with the small compartment.

Opening it up the pcbs were definitely different. One had a 3.5v designation. The other had a 7.5v.

any information will help. I just had no idea they had made these differently. I’ve had 4 in my possession as well, and 3 with the small compartment and yellow board had no problems with the dealextreme adapter. I’ll check what voltage designations they have.

Aha didn’t notice the color… (edit: Color does not matter; Voltage is the important designation.)

How are you guys coming into possession of 4 of these things? I was having a hard enough time trying to find a second one without shelling out for it.

1st one, like I mentioned, bought in 04 at EB Games.
2nd one, bought on ebay 2 years ago for my brother so I can kick his ass in Street Fighter fairly.
3rd and 4th, scored on ebay a few weeks ago.

What’d you pay for these? I’d been trying to get another one for the past couple of months and finally gave up until the SFIV hype is over.

I paid $60 (shipped) for my first one on eBay and then saw them consistently selling for $150+ They may have died down since.

If you’re in Australia I’m honestly considering selling mine and looking for alternatives

basically $175 CAD each, including shipping and after exchange rate conversion (man the Canadian $ is sucking more each day!). One is for my cousin though, and he’s willing to pay the $175. I sold an XBOX 360 SE Fightstick and made $50, so I didn’t mind spending a little on the anniversary sticks. The TE sticks are retailing for $190 CAD plus tax here. And IMO, the SFA sticks are a better stick. I personally prefer bat tops over ball tops, round gates over square gates, and concave buttons over convex buttons. I’m willing to accept the price of sticks is not the same as it was before SFIV.

btw, here’s the pics comparing Zangief’s hair/no hair.

Even had it on the front of the box, so if you’re bidding on an auction, and they only have a pic of the box, look carelfully.

And another thing I caught, one side of the box is different. The left is the one with hair. But the box on the right, the picture of the poster shows Zangief with hair. Go figure.

^Ok mines didn’t have Zangief’s hair, and included a poster, and it worked with my adapter. Also it has a smaller wire compartment and a yellow pcb I think.

I’ve actually owned six of these. And tried to sell them all off with NO LUCK. I would just sit and look at them and think why did I buy these?

Before the sfIV hype you could score one of these from $50-75 dollars if you were lucky.

I currently own 4 now. Sold only 1!! Gave the other to my brotherinlaw. Plus, I’m always on the lookout for these. craigslist etc etc. These sticks are notorious on this forum and the bad pcbs are documented. But they are a fave among happ fans since they are also one of the easiest to mod.

But they are fun for sfIV and am happy I never got rid of them.

They pop up on the trading forum every once in awhile at a good price modded.

Didn’t get a chance to compare pcbs yet guys. Maybe tomorrow.

Check to see if Zangief has no hair, and also check out the pcb if its yellow then you probably have the same model as mines which works on an adapter. If its a green pcb I guess you wont have any luck.

just confirming my zangeif has hair lol
I also have the green PCB
