First off I want to say that i’m chippin in $5 in gas to every multi person vehicle who shows up from out of town. I know gas money is hard to come by these days and I don’t mind helping out cuz I want everyone to show up. I got some other things to say besides this that though…
Naysayism…i really think it’s best for you and the Louisiana gaming community if you come to this tournament. Houston will always be there, but it’s very rare for us to have events in Louisiana. With the way things are going, i’m not sure how much longer things are going to last.
It actually makes me pretty sad to see the state Louisiana gaming is in right now. Before i peaced out for a couple of months earlier this year everyone talked to each other and we were pretty much one big happy family. Now it seems like everyone has their own seperate cliques and no one really cares about gaming with the others half of the time. New Orleans stays in New Orleans, Baton Rouge in Baton Rouge. This ain’t how it should be. Everybody used to chat in the IRC room, but now we barely talk to people from different cities anymore. Even when we have events like tournaments and stuff people don’t show up or don’t even consider going in the first place. Back in the day EVERYONE came and everyone at least knew each other a little bit. I seem to notice even now when one city visits the other it still seems like strangers playing strangers and not that much of a gathering of friendly gamers. I know to some of the newer people like LimeGreenNinja, Nay, Lame Dawan, and Knives (not new, but wasn’t around when Louisiana was gelling together real well.) it might seem like i’m rambling off a bit but man things used to be a lot better. It’s pathetic that there’s even a chance that no out of towners would show up to this tournament. This shouldn’t happen. We gotta get our shit together, seriously. I know a lot of yall are probably thinking “wtf? i’m having a lot of fun gaming”. But this ain’t nothing compared to how it was or how it should be. I take a lot of that blame on my shoulders since I used to be the one to sorta get people organized and what not in the past, before i peaced out for a while. I’m gonna try and hold a get together at my house so peopel can hang with each other for a whiel and really get to know each other better. It’s been a long time since we had a real get together. Man…seems like i was rambling a lot in this post but hopefully yall kinda feel what i’m sayin.

Man i know just what you mean, back in the day everyone came to everything weather they played the game or not. Turny in N.O br was there. Turny in br, N.O was there. Get-together somewhere everyone show’d, now it seems to be “I play this and im only coming to this if there is comp better than myslef and the pots decent”. Or “I’ll catch it next time”, I know there are random travels from here to there going on but its nothing like it use to be. Granted everyone has changed(grown)alot in the last for years. Job, school, and women have taken the frontline more so than gettin better at “insert game name here” And thats how it should be to a cetain extent but it just sucks that in the free time we do get we don’t attemp to get together at all or have a “big event” for LA.
Thats why imo Vs is LA last hope at becoming a big hot gaming spot. There’s really no reason we shouldn’t be we got some of the best mvc2 players in the US here. And up and coming 3s kings too, (#r is on a come up as well) Its run by guys who didn’t open looking for major bread, but for the love of the game. Its also everything we all ever wanted under one roof…Monthly turnys, reg comp, great sticks, and its run by people who have a love for the game 1st and formost. I’m not sayin this from and employee stand point either but from a guy who loves games.
I think If we wasn’t so cocky in or respective games i think La as a whole could be alot better. And ish talkin is cool just as long as it stays in the srk forums. When u meet someone in person the srk talk should stay on srk. (unless u really just don’t get down with the person lol)
