lol?
Its kind of a non-issue because a megaman match up won’t just appear on XBL and if you’re an E-athlete ugh needs better term then just get the PS3 version or keep playing Marvel or SF4 KOF or whatever your playing. Its gonna take months just to have a vague idea of what every character can do and even without the bonus 5 i bet this game will have its fair share of hakans and dans
I understand the importance of match ups, but sometimes they can be put way outta proportions. Just read them up and you’ll have a decent idea on what to expect.
Does this work with movies, too? I want to be awesome, can I just watch Jason Statham movies until that happens? PLEASE?
If people don’t want the exclusives to be used, just use 360 ver. Though that depends on if tournaments use them.
Console exclusive = insta-ban.
No major will allow them since they don’t want to risk not being part of EVO (which will most likely ban them).
And any minor that allows them wont be taken seriously.
That’s fantastic and all but don’t you think we could rethink it for this game? The gems already make this a rules nightmare, this game needs to be thought over by Tue tournament organizers and we need a standardized ruleset. We also have to see if Cole,Mega Man and Pacman are any good. They may be weak as shit! Who knows?
Wow I thought they were exclusive to the portable version? This is on console? They gotta do something for MS…
Well MS wont pony up the $$$, Sony did.
Rules are pretty clear, console exclusive = insta-ban.
If a character is actually GOOD than knowing what they are capable of is not enough to consistently defend against it. You need experience and an understanding of the spacings that different options win. Trying to find a way to out button someone if your go to button doesn’t work mid-match is not something easy to do against even an average player.
Console exclusive is banned generally for that reason.
I understand banning console exclusives in games like MK9. There was one character that could not be played, if you wanted to play competitively just don’t chose Kratos. However, here we have a 5 character difference. If the 360 had exclusive characters of it’s own this would have been different, but it has now moved beyond an issue of console exclusive characters. The PS3 version is clearly the advantageous version. I’m sure if the 360 had any other problem with it that made it the worse version to play, such as input lag, that people would have no problem making the PS3 version tournament standard.
I know that they are going to be banned and that nothing I say is going to change that. I just hate to see so many characters never even get to see the light of day.
I don’t get this argument, we’re talking about matchup experience, no?
So, why should we ban 5 characters because they’re exclusive to a console in this instace, no really, why?
SFIV had no banned characters in any major Western “international” tournaments, even those where Japanese players were invited to attend.
Even though, all Arcade players (A HUGE majority of asian players) had limited/no matchup experience with/against:
Fei Long
Sakura
Cammy
Seth
Gouken
Rose
Dan
or Gen
Why do Xbox players get the privilege of having characters banned to benefit them, yet Arcade players got no such privilege?
To make things better, this continued all the way through SSFIV’s life cycle, with the additional console-only characters of:
Adon
Makoto
Ibuki
T-Hawk
Deejay
Hakan
Juri
Cody
And Guy
I very much understand the point of banning characters like these, players should have an even ground no matter what system they play on, but why has this only applied when console players are the one’s being inconvenienced?
I would really like an official/educated answer on this, not just a “banning 7 characters is much more severe than just banning 5”
Because EVO is a console tournament, not an arcade tournament.
It is also a "PS3 tournament"
It gives 360 players the privilege of banning characters even though they aren’t playing on the 360 at the event, specifically so they have an easier time with matchups.
They did not give the same privilege to Arcade players, even though they specifically invited a lot of arcade-only players.
In the end they’re still playing the same game, but you only get the matchup privilege if you don’t play Arcade.
EVO is a PS3 tournament, not a 360 tournament. Your logic applies just as well to why we shouldn’t ban them.
I wouldn’t call it a “not 360 tournament” as much of a “PS3, unless…” tournament, they have 360’s at the event if they want them for specific games, but the same applies to using arcade machines for games like T6 pre-console.
I think Pacman and Megaman will eventually get released as DLC on the 360 anyways.
So why exacerbate the issue by forcing tournaments to carry only PS3s, especially when this will call into question every other game with console exclusives?
Because people want to see these joke characters on stream.
Make PS3 standard for this game since it offers more. 360 offers nothing so it doesn’t get the nod. Pretty simple.
You weren’t born with the innate right that ‘you will be allowed to 100% fairly compete in any given video game tournament by purchasing only one console’. If you like this game so much, you’ll play it on the tournament standard.
What about people that own a Wii? They bought one console after all. All games not on Wii should be banned from tournaments? Ohhh it only counts if you bought a PS3 or 360, since in your mind it was an either/or decision and there should be no drawback or benefit derived by either.
Sony is obviously shelling out bucks to get these characters and therefore helping Capcom make the game a reality/commercial success (in their eyes). Yet people want to keep supporting the company that hasn’t invested anything in this particular game. Hmm.
