"Now, face the mighty Bison!" - Video Critique Thread

yeah I know I got lucky about having a good SF scene here in Dallas. But I found the scene by looking in the regional matchmaking threads on srk. If you haven’t found your local thread I def recommend it, there might be more people in your area than you think. I just found the local scene about a month and a half ago, and it took time to make friends because they all see so many faces come and go, but if you find dedicated players you would be surprised how much better this game is offline when you have solid competition and good friends to play against.

lol wut?

How far are you from Toronto? I know some people who go to school there, and they have a large, very strong scene. They have pretty big tournaments there every once in a while, so it might be worth checking out.

i’m about an hours drive away from TO, so yeah…not really worth the gas just to get a few games going, even though that pretty much is where you will find any good SF competition.

Hey guys,

some videos of my bison (SF4): http://www.youtube.com/user/gw1nn3rs

tell me what you think.

Yeah I only watched the sagat fight cause its vanilla… do people still play that game? DAMN THAT SUCKS. But to be more on point, your had a pretty solid bison, Sagat is a joke to fight against in vanilla and you still managed to pull out the win. NICE read on that clutch ultra. I don’t know why the sagat player was scared to do anything after HS? When you jumpin with mk, it doesnt have enough blockstun to be added to your blockstring(same in SSF4) so watchout for that because its an easy reversal on block.

Yeah i know that I was trying to bait him for a reversal. It worked a couple of times.

Check out my over videos as well and tell me what do to you think of me combo wise…

I am on the pc thats why I am still playing vanilla…:frowning:

I need a cheap solution to capturing my replays. With the new replay system in SSF4, I have no excuse not to upload my bad matches.

You can pick up a Dazzle capture card for real cheap, but they only do SD. You can get a Hauppauge HD PVR for under $200, which is the same thing Frame Advantage uses for their tournament captures.

Or if you have a digital camera that captures video, just buy a 2GB+ SD card and a tripod. Which is what I do. Keeps things real simple, and is plenty good for posting up critique vids.

My crappy digital camera doesn’t go over a certain amount of seconds so I stopped trying to use it.
I can settle for something that records DVD quality resolution, doesn’t even need to be HDMI.

I felt like this belonged in the critique thread more than the video thread because I lost and because I don’t know if I could of jumped out of the ultra at the end with better reaction…?

So I was having kind of a bad day with the game, but I felt like I did everything right to my knowledge of the match… I don’t know when the next time this situation will arise for me but I would like to know the answer before I see it again. My question is, could I of jumped out of that ultra at the end if I didn’t panic, or is it a reset and I needed to tele behind her to avoid it?(because I havn’t learned it all the way yet, and i didn’t have charge to EX PC/SK out of it)<or would that of gotten beaten too?

I’m pretty sure they hold tournaments in Hamilton. I joined the GTASF facebook group and i’ve gotten facebook invitations to tournaments that were in Hamilton, held by “Pownz” or someone like that.

Apparently they found out that ultra 1 can punish a lot of unsafe stuff ranging from like -1f to -2f so they a lot of Ibuki players have been using it lately, but it’s only if you are standing next to them after the move.

Ok but how about after reset, like after her target combo reset that she does? does that make it a free ultra for her if she starts her vortex? hmmmm maybe I should ask this in the Ibuki thread…

Resets and frame traps always allow reversal-type reaction (reversal specials, backdash, jump…) that can usually beat command grabs.
Recovery gets grabbed, however !

Ok so I asked the Ibuki thread and they said that if I jump or backdash you will only eat about 200 damage of it or so. Tele would work well and is probably your best option on reaction.

Check out the Easycap USB Video Capture Adapter it’s super cheap but you might have to put some work in to get it setup at first.

Picked up a Diamond VC600 USB Capture.

Loved it
