props for entering the tournament! i’m avoiding all arcades here in korea until they get super in. no way am i going in and fighting with 1.0 dictator against like 1.0 sagats and giefs lol. i actually went and played a bit a few days ago and i just got pissed off at stuff i know won’t work anymore and just left before the weekly even started haha. anyways most of this is going to be criticism. later on if you need you can also get help regarding specific things in the other threads like fundamentals and setups in psycho science, matchup specifics in the matchup thread, combo info in the combo thread, etc.
1:07 you did two jabs but did no follow up combo and just did roundhouse scissors. rh scissors are unsafe.
1:10 cammy got a counter hit, i’m assuming you were trying to crouch tech or just pushing buttons but she still had to walk up to you to do it from that range. then i see a jab come out for no reason. too many unnecessary whiffed normals.
around 1:20, more jabs into nothing.
1:24 or so, tried to slide for some reason.
roundhouse scissors again at 1:30. cammy is in the corner and for some reason you walk away.
1:39, roundhouse scissors again.
bad punish attempt at 1:41.
2:03, roundhouse scissors AGAIN, on a combo you probably didn’t hit confirm. bad punish again on cannon strike soon after. then all of a sudden you just start to let her do cannon strikes without punishing at all.
lucky slide at 2:24, bad idea unless you punished her on reaction.
roundhouse sk AGAIN at like 2:33-34. bad devil’s reverse soon after. you cant do that in this matchup. nice punish of the canon strike after though and nice chip ftw. nice slide on reaction at the opening of the next match. again roundhouse scissors that weren’t in a combo. next, you can’t crossup cammy like that. the only jump ins you want to do on her is a safe jump after a throw.
3:10 AGAIN with the roundhouse scissors.
bad random EX SK for no reason at around 3:19. bad slide at 3:23.
no punish at 3:25. you got hit by a FA for some reason soon after. then you slide again for no reason.
3:54, RH SK again. jab jab PC for some reason instead of a combo. random mp xx pc soon after. badly timed ex HS after the throw, unsafe slide after that.
overall you i’d say you need to
- learn combos
- learn what is not safe and what is safe and what the spacing for those specials are
- develop a wakeup offensive game
- try and control yourself from doing random stuff and if youre going to make a guess try and make it a more educated one
- learn what to punish with what
- develop a better defense and learn how to tech throws
- overall learn your spacing
- learn the matchups and what you can or cant do in them, how to punish and what to punish, spacing, etc.
i’d say its most important right now to just take it a bit at a time and start by learning combos and do’s and don’ts of a matchup. then you can combine what you develop by working on those two things and develop an offensive wakeup game by learning how to safe jump, time your meaties, frame traps, etc. all that other stuff i listed kind of just branches off from learning combos and getting your execution solid and do’s and don’ts.

Thought I’d comment on your ryu fight since I’m not familiar with the other matchups. You’ve probably noticed some of these things on watching yourself but anyways… Sweet maul, really had him pressured for most of the matches. Might want to consider just walking fwd sometimes though instead of ex psycho Walking also gives you a chance to react to fireballs. I noticed a few times you had an ultra and missed fireball punishes while rushing in. Be careful with spacing your slides. Good shit overall.
First off you put up an amazing fight against that Dhalsim, honestly I thought you were pretty done after the first round. Good calls on your PP attempts. To be honest, I really don’t have that much to say other than remember your psycho crushers. Even though it isn’t really pushing your opponent to the corner, remember you have the ability to cross-up crusher now and that every crusher is relatively safe if well spaced. Other than that, pretty good job and better luck next time again that Ryu, definitely gave you a good run for your money.
hey guys, with the replay channel and ‘my channel’ being so fucking rad, why don’t we try and maximize its use for criticism and when a bunch of us are online we can hop in a party, head over to someone’s replay channel, watch matches and critique together. slo-mo, pause, inputs and all of that good stuff will be a huge benefit to analyzing matches. criticism can happen as a group and in real time and it’ll probably be fun as fuck to boot.
so yeah maybe you guys can keep this in mind, whenever you see me online feel free to invite and we can do some back and forth critiques of our play in this fashion.

i think you can save every one. ive only played like three ranked matches though. too much to do in training mode!
You have to save your replays from the “Battle Log” to “My List.” Then go into “My Channel” and send invites. Then pick the replay and go.
I think Battle Log holds like the last 20 matches you’ve played so if you wanna pick out the Bison ones to save up, do it before you use other characters. :o
