you hit confirm into anything that can combo into the launcher. You then use the jump cancel energy javelin. It will groundbounce them, you centurion art.
infinite.
There you go, perfect, thanks.
I saw it on flyingVe Vid, you should watch tem, tons of sweet nova stuff ^^.
Oh I did, that must’ve slipped my mind.
Actually, it’s a bit easier than that. Hitting R2 (or whatever the 360 trigger is) at each point of contact will work as well. That way you don’t need to worry about switching up directions/buttons as here.
What do you people think of Nova/Frank/Spencer? Is Spencer still viable as an anchor or has he evolved into a gimmick that somehow combofiend got to work in vanilla?
being a gimmick doesnt mean it’s not viable, Phoenix was a gimmick thourought vanilla and…Wolverine/Akuma mixup on incoming char was one too…
Spencer anchor is still very strong.
Nova DHC into franck for lvl 5 is still very strong.
Nova can use a lockdown assist like franck cart really well.
Spencer is still best combo extender for Nova.
Franck can manage without assist if he is lvl 5, and i’m sure spencer assisit can do some good combo extending stuff.
they all DHC well into one another.
Yup, I’ve been playing around with this team and I’m pretty happy with how well they sinergize given that they’re basically just 3 characters I really enjoy. Gotta hit the lab with it. Thanks for the help
Yeah I was playing lots of Nova Frank Hawkeye and it worked really well, and Spencer is even better for the team, I just don’t really like him. I see Spencer as a Frank replacement, but see no reason at all why Nova Frank Spencer shouldn’t be good, especially since Shopping Cart can help Nova a la the missing Hawk arrows. The only downside I can imagine is I dont know how helpful Spencer’s assist is for Frank if Nova dies, though you could tag Spencer in and play him with Shopping Cart. I often did that with Hawkeye if Nova wasnt long for this world.
I’m still playin the Nova xx Hawk shell, but am doin Dormammu in the middle and liking it a lot so far!
Question, what does Nova have that’s safe on-block? I need to find a way to end strings in case my opponent blocks correctly because his normals seem unsafe to me and I have no idea where to find framedata. Any help?
somebody said his c.h is -3 on block dunno how ture that is mind you
5B, 5C, 2C, Red Pulses, H Pulse.
For what it’s worth, I’ve also seen Combofiend cancel into Energy Javelin on block. Definitely not safe, per se, but likely a mind game against someone who knows better than to mash buttons during a block string.
What flyingVe said plus gravimetric pulse L with red life. (it’s plus on block so you’ll beat mashers).
I think that Nova has some pretty good options with an assist covering them, although he’s not Magneto-fast. My main tool for approaching is an assist with :d: since it moves Nova so far and he can cancel into many moves to make it safe ( :h: is -4 on block,:d::h: is -3 on block, Grav Pulse :h: is -1/-1/+1 on block depending on red life, and Grav Pulse :l: is -7/+5/+11 depending on red life).
If they block it I’m fairly safe, and the basic high-low mixup I sometimes go for is between :f:+:h: or a delayed :d::h:(both are -4/-3 on block respectively). As you bring your opponent toward the corner, Nova is a lot stronger. Assists and Grav Pulse :h: make things a lot harder for the opponent in the corner, and you can choose to do down air dash (no momentum) and choosing between a j :l: or an empty jump into :f:+:h:(Nova Slam or throw) or :d: or :d::h:. Remember that his lows all have a good amount of start up so without an assist he can get stuffed at close range.
His airdashes are fairly slow but Nova can still use them to pressure and go for throws (I find that his j:h: has a nice hitbox and you can get combos by hitting someone air to air with his moves).
You’re going to run into a bit of trouble with assists; if you use Frank’s shopping cart to cover Nova, not only will it kill your scaling but then you lose Centurion Rush for double snapshots after DHCing (you can use Spencer’s Alpha assist for 2 snaps, but then you lose the crumple for rocket punch. The circle goes round and round lol). And when you have Frank on point or Frank is KO’d neither of the characters will have good coverage assists.
Beyond that, I’m of the opinion that Spencer is an overhyped anchor (I’m a Spencer main, I prefer him on point). The team can still work though.
In the meantime I’ve switched Spencer out for Hawkeye. Maybe I’m just bad (it’s possible) but I find that even level 4 Frank needs some kind of assist to help him get in. Plus Hawkeye is cool.
you dont have to go in once you have level four frank his chainsaws have so much range and they chip. if you want to go in use nova overhead assist plus frank roll, for a crossup and go for unblockable
I like to go in and be agressive when I play Frank West so I prefer Hawkeye’s assist. I just feel more confortable using it.
Thinking of checking out Nova, but I hear his c.L doesn’t hit low? Does one go about opening the opponent up with Nova? What’s the general strategy?
