Plink dashing on a pad might actually be easier than on a stick because of shortcuts. I have R1 set to M+H and square set to L so plinking those two is actually fairly easy. I don’t have it mastered but I can certainly do it just fine.
My plinkdashing USED to suck, but recently I’ve really grinded it out and it’s payed off. Trust me when I tell you that this will improve your Nova significantly if your plinkdashing gets on point. I do still wavedash when I’m not trying to cover much ground and I’m moving back and forth, but being able to plinkdash to the other side of your opponent while on the ground is pretty great.
All movement options are necessary. Plinkdashing makes Nova very very fast.
Fully agree. Plinkdashing is easier to me than backward wavedashing because of the wavedash “glitch” (inputting a dash during the transition from back [4] to down-back [1] results in a forward dash). You should cancel the last dash while plinkdashing into a crouch as well, though, in general, for safety.
only thing i can think of aside from changing up your flight combo would be to alter your calling of jam session during f.H so that you can sneak in a launcher and then TK your dp.M!
Drop the first j.L for a j.M. No reason not to do two of them before the fly. Aside from that it’s a fairly standard combo. Nova is such a huge friend of Frank because (among other reasons) his setup is so straight forward. There’s a rawtag setup but it requires Cold star. Here it is:
Anyway @Marvelo I have a question. What do you think of Chris second in a Nova/strider team? Is his machine gun assist at all usable for Nova? You’d get high damage rawtag combos for it. What do you think?
I’ve experimented with it. DHCing to Grenade Super, you can actually do something pretty interesting extensions with flamethrower for TOD. Only thing is you lose TAC capabilities. Machine Gun assist is pretty decent for Nova, but it isn’t perfect. Try it out and let know what you think.
Maybe change your flight combo to “jh. xx fly j.h xx unfly j.h, st.h s j.h xx fly, jh. j.s.”
After f+h, call Dante later so that you can do cr.m xx srk.m, st.h xx srk.m or s xx tkd srk.m. I have not tried any of them, but I imagine that the first one is the easiest and most reliable.
Change the ender to srk.h, jump cancel, j.h xx Supernova -> Survival Techniques, call Nova, Snapshot, Tools of Survival M., Tools of Survival M. (which can be cancelled into Survival Techniques if you want) or srk.h, jump cancel, j.h xx Supernova -> Survival Techniques, call Nova, Snapshot, Roundhouse M., Snapshot (which can be cancelled into Survival Techniques).
For your second question:
Yes, but only if you get a confirm with the shopping cart assist. It’s most reliable in the corner.
cr.m + Cart, st.h xx Rocket Punch h., Energy Javelin, raw tag to Frank, javelin hits opponent, st.l, st.m, cr.m, cr.h (might be st.h, don’t remember), s, j.m, j.m, j.h, air Tools of Survival m., j.s, ender. As for enders, I guess maybe:
Call Dante, air Tools of Survival h., Zombie swing l., Tools of Survival m., Roundhouse m., Snapshot xx Survival Techniques (don’t quote me on this since I play Vergil, not Dante).
I’ve been grinding plink dashing too, and it’s really helped. Specifically “the Nemo special,” step back plink dash twice air grab, and especially OSing with backthrow upon landing to beat pressure. Looks so random when you get it, but isn’t! Running away is great too.
I guess I never practiced it enough before cause Doom can’t plink dash and Ammy can S plink dash which is sooooo much easier
